  1. Because of ash clouds the airspace over Europe will unfortunately be closed at that time so he will have to row his boat over after passing his facetime medical just in time.
  2. Not good if we wait until deadline day before making more moves. New players will need some time to gel in, and we're trying to turn the ship here. Also slightly concerning that we played a behind the doors friendly and conceded another three goals versus Bahia.
  3. Nicko saying young Arsenal striker to Sheff W. so that makes more sense.
  4. No one has been playing well.
  5. Sell Jan 31 and fail to replace him. Would be trademark Rovers. Do you think any or some of that money would be reinvested this window? Wharton's one of our own. Hate to see people trying to flog him like he's a commodity. If he develops further and has greater ambitions than Rovers, then fine, but we shouldn't be trying to push him out the door.
  6. We don't need another unproven loan signing right now. Biereth has a one in three ratio in the Eredivisie and Scottish Prem so it's a pass for me.
  7. Hope not. Not what we need at this point.
  8. One way or another something's not right with him. Might be ring rust or still not 100% injury free.
  9. van Hecke is a regular at Brighton. He played mostly in a three back system so it was easier to shine as it meant he could take more risk roaming forwards. Still a class player whose only weakness really is pace, but clever players find a way - look at Ooijer.
  10. We adapted more to the opposition and managed to shut teams out last season. Now we're full on attack mode on 2-0 after 60+ minutes exhausting ourselves and taking too much risk.
  11. Downgrade from van Hecke for me. He was pretty good last season, but gets found out in our current gung-ho system. Feel a bit sorry for him though.
  12. Who is better than Gallagher for £1m?
  13. Do you think Hyam was promised something entirely different when he entered the building compared to what has actually happened? He's been poor this season, but after his injury especially he's looked terrible. Disinterested and there's something off about him. Rusty, still injured or there's something else going on there behind the scenes...
  14. If you look at the overall contribution our fit strikers have made so far this season, and compare it to Gallagher's short cameo last Saturday, then it's night and day. He has his obvious shortcomings, but I think JDT rates him for a reason. Besides, why would Ipswich want him if he's that bad?
  15. Only way I can see Gallagher leaving is if there's a solid option coming in that's ready to go, with wages being freed up for another signing as well. It's looking like the issues with Venky's are being prolonged, or else we would never have shipped out Buckley and Travis under the current circumstances. While I don't mind Travis leaving, the timing is poor, and it's to a rival play-off candidate. Remember Rothwell and Bournemouth? I know we're on a bad slide here, but points-wise we're still in relative contact. Talk of selling Szmodics is madness btw, he's our player of the season and runs his bollocks off every game. Age-wise it makes sense to cash in, but think relegation to League 1 is more expensive than not selling him.
  16. Hope so. Doesn't suit our style of play.
  17. Gallagher as a striker now will do a lot better than the ones we've had for a while. He can also play instead of either ineffective wing as we need more physicality on the pitch. First and foremost Hyam has to shore up the defence and Pears brought be back into the team. Conceding cheap goals will take its toll on the morale.
  18. That didn’t age so well with Fofana going to Burnley 😂
  19. Fofana was a good shout on loan but I don't see the connection and would assume they still want a level higher than a (struggling) Championship side. McGuire from MLS was rookie of the year and I would gladly take him, but I think we have to look at that kind of pedigree or higher, or there's no point to making a deal really. Ole Sæter was mentioned in the summer but I don't rate him that highly. Good left foot and a strong finisher though. Signed a new contract in the summer after months of discussions/speculation but wants to try his luck abroad and Nürnberg in tier 2 in Germany have been lurking about. 28 y.o. so no resale value, and fairly untested.
  20. They should be interested in bringing him back now then.
  21. I'm grasping at straws here but Rory joined Rovers at 8 years old while Ash was 12, so hoping there's some loyalty there. Seems like GB/JDT are trying to show him there's a 'clear pathway' here too, so hopeful he's mature enough to try his luck here and he'll be replacing Tronstad in three years time.
  22. Sensible to try and negotiate the best deal for us. He won't go straight into the team anyway.
  23. Thought it was perfectly normal to divide payments into installments. Tbh. a clause like that should say directly that it takes £500k upfront for it to be triggered, and there wouldn't be much room for negotiations... could be that that's the story here and we're still haggling, which would justify some frustration.
  24. A lot more difficult to copy Brentford's model now after Brexit as well I believe. Some of the unknowns brought into that team wouldn't have qualified for a work permit these days, if I'm not mistaken.
