  1. Yes. But... We were relegated despite having a brilliant player like N'Zonzi in the team. Good on him for leaving the Keaning mess we were in then...
  2. I think Samuel can fill in for Graham or any of the wide players. If he can pick up a thing or two from Graham, then he could develop into a decent player at this level too - needs to work on his decision making and finishing first and foremost for me. Plus, Armstrong can play as a lone striker if we want to catch teams on the break. Is Palmer quick?
  3. Cheap in today's market perhaps? Cheap considering our budget? Not so sure. He's a high risk signing if we don't have much cash, and was only used as an impact sub last season in L1. After that he suffered back to back hamstring injuries, one of them required surgery and lengthy rehab. He's only recently started playing again, and who knows if and when he will break down again? I like him as a player, and I felt Mowbray didn't utilise him enough early doors, but at this moment in time he wouldn't be top of my shopping list.
  4. I don't know the details of the budget, but I do know we need to make more signings before the transfer window shuts.
  5. He initially signed a three-year deal with the option of a fourth. Perhaps there was a minimum release clause in there that has now changed? Or his agent has put some mild pressure on the club saying he was the league's star performer last season and will look for deals elsewhere if not offered improved terms - I don't know. Mowbray did say early on after clinching promotion that some players would be offered better terms - I think our wage structure was totally revamped after suffering relegation. I also hope the contracts the club offer the players now are heavily bonus incentivised.
  6. Final Countdown is a classic. Never change.
  7. I like the new shirt, but agree with the sentiments that the logo could have been better. Same colour blue as the umbro logo would be ideal.
  8. I agree his injury problems last season is a worry, but he didn't suffer a recurrence of his prior hamstring injury but suffered a different (grade 2) one.
  9. They have Mitrovic on their books as well. He was fantastic for Fulham and had a great world cup, so I think he'll be given the chance before Armstrong. Totally different players though, so you never know...
  10. Stuart: Wasn't that our third kit? If I remember correctly it was our away kit from the season before, but with a different sponsor (Bet24?). A few years back when they did a vote I voted for orange, such a shame almost no one else did. This is my favourite of all time
  11. If it's on lower wages than before, and a pay-as-you-play deal then I'm fine with it. He has a lot to prove after the last couple of seasons in my opinion.
  12. He's the sort of player that has a niggling injury here and there, and really isn't the same player when he hasn't trained properly for a longer period of time. I'd offer him a 1+1 year deal, if he plays x amount of games then a renewal clause is triggered and he can choose to renew under the same terms. Was instrumental last season, and proved me wrong when I thought he looked over the hill in the first 3-6 games.
  13. Gestede's wages would be a stumbling block, and he's suffered a few nasty injuries lately. I'd rather we spend the money elsewhere.
  14. He'll tear this league apart, and I thought it was strange he didn't start ahead of Antonsson (another loanie) on Tuesday. That was my thought before the game, during and after I think Antonsson delivered the goods so can't say Mowbray picked the wrong team. With four at the back and Smallwood, Evans and Bennett in midfield, I don't see the big risk of throwing Chapman in there though.
  15. Uh oh, potentially one camera and no commentary then...?
  16. Anyone know how many cameras will be in use at Ewood?
  17. Q: What type of production quality can subscribers expect from iFollow? A: Every iFollow service will have a minimum of a single camera. Each club can choose to enhance the streaming production with more cameras and audio commentary, if they choose. Uhhh, one camera. Hope Rovers enhance
  18. A signed ball. My guess is it's a signed Mitre ball from the PL winning season.
  19. Most people don't commit suicide when they hit rock bottom. Usually it's when they're starting to feel better and on the up, as that's when they feel they have enough energy and 'confidence' to go through with it. I don't want to speculate on what happened in this instance, but I think the players union need to look at setting up an educational facility of some sort to help ex footballers. Being out of the limelight is a tough nut to crack for many former stars. They have been pampered for most of their adult life, and before that, by their mothers. So something to help them get settled into real life and how to manage the daily grind. I am by no means saying this is the case with Gary Speed, but his tragic death brought this issue to the front of my mind. My thoughts are with Gary Speed's family and close friends.
  20. Wenger said something along the same lines after the QPR - Chelsea game, and I don't recall anyone slagging him off. I realise Blatter is President of FIFA but still, Wenger is a big name in football as well. Here's a paragraph from an article from the Independent: "How much credit can you give to something that is said on the pitch in a passionate situation?" Wenger said. "How deep do you read?" He suggested, with a rather more trivial example than the one currently in the news, that insults on the football pitch are "reflexes" rather than considered speech. "If you have played football, you have said something to your friends sometimes that you are an idiot – but you do not really think that he's an idiot." During a football career there are quite a few 'heated' situations. Sometimes people say or do silly stuff but I think as long as people can shake hands afterwards and apologise when an apology is due, then one shouldn't read too much into it. There's a difference between one nasty tackle and being a nasty player. However, if John Terry denies having said something racist during a game and it turns out he did, then I think he should get a ban. Professional athletes are paid vast amounts of money too, and probably should be able to keep it within the rules. I don't like Blatter, but I think this particular hounding is over the top.
