  1. He said he had spoken to the board who represent/speak on the behalf of the owners.
  2. I hope we're having a look at Kiwi international midfielder Joe Bell who plays for Brøndby. He's on a long contract after signing from Norwegian side VIking in January and would probably cost a fair bit, but he's a real prospect. Broughton would certainly know of him, and he should be no stranger to JDT either.
  3. Seeing as we're not really replacing players who leave for a fee, it's hard to see how we all of a sudden would be able to replace like for like (or better) players who leave for nothing. Rothwell was a goner in any case, but Nyambe especially at 24 I think it's criminal although I don't know what his agent has been demanding on his behalf. I have no hard feelings towards him as he was grossly mis-managed by Mowbray for large parts of the past five years, whereas captain Lenihan making a sideways move angers me a bit more. I can never fault him for his effort or attitude, but I would have stripped him of the armband a long time ago if I was managing the side.
  4. Above our pay grade. Good little player, but not PL material.
  5. The £4m or so that Mowbray accepted for Rothwell should be made available for a replacement. Then you have the Arma money… If the model is to make money off academy products then we just missed out on two of them. Give Nyambe and Lenihan new deals in Jan them blame the new manager when selling them in the summer. No business sense imo.
  6. Come off it. We're not signing Braithwaite.
  7. It was no more than a reality check. We'll know the answer once the window slams shut.
  8. Says me. We have failed to retain the services of three mainstays, while succeeding to renew the contracts of Kaminski and Travis. We can attract a few youngsters who are looking for a step up, but as I see things we're behind in the pecking order due to current wage structure.
  9. We won’t attract any top players with the current wage structure in place.
  10. That’s a big blow. Still only 24. What a mess…couldn’t we just have spent the Zeefuik money towards a new contract for Nyambe instead?
  11. In hindsight we didn't pay over the odds for him. Hopefully no more than 10%.
  12. Berget is not really a winger. I'd say he's a versatile attacking midfielder. Good on the ball, knows where the goal stands. Not the quickest or strongest. He was at Udinese earlier in his career as well, so talented but known to be a bit of a Bohemian.
  13. That would work because Dack is such an intelligent footballer. My biggest grief with Gallagher is that he very seldom chooses the easy pass but constantly runs himself into trouble. He has many attributes to make him a good striker at this level, and will probably benefit from JDT being a former (intelligent) striker himself.
  14. I don’t think we can fork out £4m for a player. We need to strengthen several positions. Twine would be a statement early doors though. Hull have their new Turkish owner and Burnley PL parachute money so can’t see us competing with that.
  15. Crazy. Armstrong has his faults but is a totally different animal.
  16. Fingers crossed, great player with still room for growth.
  17. We should look for £20m for BBD. Some daft money being thrown around in the Premier League and he's a real player. Don't rate Dolan that much, and at £3m I think he's easily replaceable.
  18. From here anything we see from Dack is a bonus. He turns 29 this year, has had a serious knee injury in each knee. No way should we plan/build a team around him. From the little we saw of him at the tail-end of last season he isn't ready to get stuck in, looked cautious on the turn - but was still one of our main goal threats.
  19. They just triggered a clause, so they will receive a fee either way. Cantwell will have a lot more to play for if it's a loan rather than a permanent deal.
  20. Cantwell would be a shrewd signing. Didn't impress at Bournemouth and they opted out of the £11m option. With one year left of his deal I don't understand why we don't just try and sign him permanently - must be on daft wages. Loan him and potentially sign him permanently if we go up, or let him leave elsewhere (or on worse terms) if him and we don't perform well enough. Just speculating...
  21. Of course he's anxious, who wouldn't be?
  22. Pickering was our second worst performer after coming back from injury, second to the super cameo false no. 9 Mr. Bradley Johnson. He's got a decent left peg but physically weak, positionally not the best and lacks pace for a modern fullback/wingback. Pedersen is strong and versatile but a bit old fashioned - no real pace on him either.
  23. Then he should sign a new two-year deal. I think he understands the situation.
