  1. Dailly was a panic signing after Hendry had left. The others really can't be excused.
  2. Would definitely take Khadra on a permanent deal. Has lots to offer and can turn into a real player. Stretches the opposition and has a good right peg. Decision making not the best, as pointed out. Wouldn't mind Semenyo from Bristol City or O'Hare from Coventry, not sure about O'Hares price tag though.
  3. I think Mowbray has taken us as far as he can. We'll never know where we would have ended up had he gotten his wish and offloaded Rothwell in January and used the funds to strengthen. Rothwell was also given time off against Luton away, a huge 6-pointer looking at it in hindsight. He also dropped the ball in bringing in another forward, and arguably Hedges has played one good match after signing (vs. PNE). How he has mismanaged Nyambe will never be forgiven in my eyes. Farke has ties with Dortmund and should have good contacts in Germany where there are many talents in the top two divisions. I'm sure he won't mind sunny Blackburn over Krasnodar either.
  4. Some good groundwork has been laid, even though we will lose a few of our established players. When/if we sell BBD this summer then hopefully a new manager will be given most or all of that money to reinvest. Handing Johnson or another cheaper option the job will be a red flag in that sense.
  5. Farke and Dyche have a proven track-record of getting out of this league and that must be exactly what Venky's are looking for. No compensation package for either, besides - Venky's refused to let Rothwell go for £3m in January so surely money can't be an issue here?
  6. Really should have someone lined up already but knowing Venky's it will be late August with no signings before then.
  7. Would take Farke in a heartbeat. Dyche at the helm thumping Burnley twice next season would also be something special.
  8. Fought well in the first half, difference in class in the second. Brereton's chances were a lot harder to score from compared to the ones that Solanke took well care of. I hope we're not stuck with Dolan, Hedges and Sam upfront next season. Sort of relieved to finally get it out of the way. It's been a painful few months now, but watching our in-form run earlier in the season brought brought a lot of joy back to my life as a Rovers supporter. Hope we get some funds to strengthen.
  9. Done well to stabilise the ship. Brought in some exciting young players, and a genuinely good bloke. Think he's a good man-manager but ordinary or worse tactically. A very good season cut short by some stubborn decisions from the manager and a bit of bad luck with injuries and when it was crunch time (missed pens). Thanks for everything, nervous about what's to come.
  10. Bournemouth was a must win however you want twist it. QPR not up for it.
  11. I thought Johnno's deal expires in the summer?
  12. We have been overcrowded in the middle of the park for months now, and Mowbray has not changed his system until now. We look a much better side when Travis, Buckley and Rothwell operate centrally. PNE away is a tough task, Boro will dread going there on the last day of the season. I think we will get beat by Bournemouth on Saturday but not without a fight. If it does come down to the wire, then Birmingham City away is similar to this one - we are the better side if we can find our mojo. Hedges looked a lot better from the start than off the bench.
  13. I wouldn't mind DJ taking the reigns for the remainder of the season. A new manager needs to be lined up early so we can start replacing all the outgoings. A lot of work to be done over the summer.
  14. A little bit crazy to have a player refusing to sign a new contract as our captain.
  15. We don't know how to control games, it's a bit like watching Manchester United under OGS and solely relying on hitting teams on the break. We have become one-dimensional, just like we were last season by wanting to keep possession at all cost not bothering about threatening the opposition's goal. Mowbray has zero adaptability and can't coach a team into defending and attacking well at the same time. This season for me it's obvious how much we need both Khadra and Brereton on the pitch, as they're by far our sharpest two going forward. Sticking with Bucko in the central role of the front three when we didn't look like scoring for a number of games was a big mistake when we still had a cushion to the teams below us on the table. We've had some harsh results but the air has been out of the balloon, we're not going up.
  16. He has looked totally lost since coming back from injury. Not dynamic enough to play in the role he's being asked to play. Think Edun is a better option there, but we need both a RWB and LWB for next season if Mowbray stays on and persists with the current system. The player who has let me down the most recently is Rothwell. Thought it was a bonus for us when he stayed past January, but don't see the big loss right now. Travis has had to cover a lot of ground lately, and while he's good at it, he doesn't have the pace to catch players once they ghost past him. Wharton also has made a lot of mistakes and luckily Kaminski has been great between the sticks and van Hecke plays well beyond his years centrally. Even if we make the play-offs now by some miracle, the quality of play just isn't there and we won't last long versus any of the other top six. A real shame we lost momentum, we only have ourselves to blame for not scoring a couple of vitals penalties and for conceding late. That confidence from run of form looks long gone now though.
  17. He has improved leaps and bounds this season and has started to use his physicality. Gets up well for headers and is a danger with both feet now too. I never saw Speedie play for us, but Shearer was an incredible finisher.
  18. Kaminski Carter/Phillips - van Hecke (hopefully) - Wharton NEW - Buckley - Travis - Edun - Pickering Dack/Markanday - Gallagher
  19. How so? They both help the opposition keep clean sheets now.
  20. Not on the front foot, starting games like last season gifting the opposition chances. Second half a lot better, came close through Buckley and Dack - not sure what Gallagher was trying to do. Is he doing a Duffy and confusing which team he's on? The referee let the game be way too physical and players getting away with blatant fouls. I really feared for Dack coming into this one. As much as Gallagher frustrates me I think him and Dack upfront unless Breo is fully fit is the way to go for Coventry. A lot of time for them both to train well and Dack makes his teammates so much better with his smartness. Rothwell is having a poor run, Dolan is highly ineffective most of the time. Wahhhh how we miss Breo in this team. Keep fighting and anything can happen, but this team has punched the air out of me so many times over the years - the 'false' hope is the killer. Oh, and Hedges is nowhere close to play-off level, I honestly can't see what he brings to the table.
  21. Kaminski Lenihan - van Hecke - Wharton Nyambe - Travis - Rothwell - Pickering Dolan - Gallagher - Khadra The back three are more comfortable travelling with the ball when they have sufficient cover. In a 4-4-2 they will have to sit back more, and we took a gamble against Derby that left openings they were unable to exploit. I wouldn't change so much the formation to start the game with as we can easily adjust it, but I would definitely start Gallagher down the middle and instruct him to hold the ball up instead of trying to turn each and every time. Dolan scored so should start, while Khadra can either run his socks off for an hour before being replaced by Giles, or we try the Giles to Gallagher formula that finally gave us a goal from open play again. On set pieces we're more dangerous with all three centre backs on the field. I like the look of this team (4-4-2), as Dack has great link-up play and it would give us three or four players in the attacking box instead of one or perhaps two. More options now, so that's good. Not that I think this is our starting eleven. Kaminski Nyambe - Lenihan - van Hecke - Pickering Khadra - Travis - Rothwell - Giles Gallagher - Dack
  22. We will see how things look come Reading away. Last season Mowbray looked deflated and was just sat on the bench similar to the second half versus Derby. He was also upset at the fans for the lack of support, and that could be part of the reason for his behaviour as the crowd was cleary upseton Tuesday night. From what I saw on RoversTV he didn't react with much joy when we scored either, and shook hands with the Derby staff before the final whistle - I don't know if he entered the pitch but hopefully there were some pats on the backs of players in the dressing room afterwards. I hope both him and the players return to form and come out guns blazing on March 19.
  23. Did Rothwell and Johnno swap positions without Mowbrays consent?
