And a great manager who knows what he's after!
-
I've only watched clips of him online, but he looks to have a bit intensity in his game. A few yellow cards, proper pace, just (probably) needs to work on his finishing as his record last season wasn't the best. I'd say £6 million for 8 goals in 53 games striker is pushing it, but in Mowbray I trust. Exciting times!

Wouldn't want to develop players for our rivals but the state of football is what it is. If we loan a Nmecha or a Harper from the PL, then I'm all for it, but when it's from a rival and without a view to buy then I'm a bit more skeptical. Older players with less potential resell value is a different matter though, although the modern game is totally bonkers and Mulgrew would probably fetch us a cool £75 million if his name was Carlo Mulagretto. ?
-
Didn't say I wouldn't. Just saying he's probably not on our radar. Doesn't have pace to burn but is still an exciting prospect despite a couple of uneventful seasons on loan in the Dutch Eredivise.

Not really the type of player we're looking at I would imagine. Sensible move for him though...

Where's the guy who took the day off work in anticipation? I'm not sure whether deals were tougher to make this window, or whether we really didn't want to spend anymore money but camouflaged it by having a few bids rejected late on. The way Tony Mowbray has been speaking about transfers must have left him just as underwhelmed as most of the fans. Will be interesting to hear what he has to say about the window as a whole. I wish they would just get rid of the transfer windows altogether.
-
He's got nothing that really stands out in his game, I agree with you on that. Doesn't utilise his physique enough, but as second fiddle to DG I think he'd be good enough. Loan with a view if he exceeds our expectations would be the sensible move here in my opinion.
-
Just about every Championship club looking for a striker will try for Abraham end of August. Big risk. Sam Gallagher seems like a sensible option. We know what he stands for, will chip in with a few goals and can play as on the flank as well. Not a dream signing, but we're not looking to replace Graham...yet.

Why do we concede so many last minute goals?
Torgeir replied to Alex Rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
As soon as Conway is subbed on you just know that the opposition is going to score. For an experienced player he sure makes a lot of daft decisions on the ball when we're trying to secure three points. No aerial ability either, can't figure out why he was given a contract extension this summer. -
According to his wiki page, Celtic had three bids rejected by Hibs for McGinn in July. Do we have the funds and would he want to move here?

Thought Nyambe had a worse day on the opposite side myself.

Armstrong will be the second best finisher at the club behind Dack. I'd like to see him get stuck in a little bit more than last season, he's Scottish after all so needs a little bit of grittiness. patrickvalery: It's easy to forget our terrible last season. We looked pretty damn solid, especially after Christmas. Mowbray will tweak the squad and we will stay up, I have no doubt about that. But if Dack emulates his form from last season he'll be a goner next summer, along with Mulgrew and Armstrong too if he continues to progress. It's going to be an almost impossible task to gain promotion from the Championship and I'm starting to wonder whether this season will be our best chance in a while...
-
Yes. But... We were relegated despite having a brilliant player like N'Zonzi in the team. Good on him for leaving the Keaning mess we were in then...
-
I think Samuel can fill in for Graham or any of the wide players. If he can pick up a thing or two from Graham, then he could develop into a decent player at this level too - needs to work on his decision making and finishing first and foremost for me. Plus, Armstrong can play as a lone striker if we want to catch teams on the break. Is Palmer quick?

And was raving about Fernando Di Santo!

Cheap in today's market perhaps? Cheap considering our budget? Not so sure. He's a high risk signing if we don't have much cash, and was only used as an impact sub last season in L1. After that he suffered back to back hamstring injuries, one of them required surgery and lengthy rehab. He's only recently started playing again, and who knows if and when he will break down again? I like him as a player, and I felt Mowbray didn't utilise him enough early doors, but at this moment in time he wouldn't be top of my shopping list.
-
I don't know the details of the budget, but I do know we need to make more signings before the transfer window shuts.
-
He initially signed a three-year deal with the option of a fourth. Perhaps there was a minimum release clause in there that has now changed? Or his agent has put some mild pressure on the club saying he was the league's star performer last season and will look for deals elsewhere if not offered improved terms - I don't know. Mowbray did say early on after clinching promotion that some players would be offered better terms - I think our wage structure was totally revamped after suffering relegation. I also hope the contracts the club offer the players now are heavily bonus incentivised.

Final Countdown is a classic. Never change.
-
I like the new shirt, but agree with the sentiments that the logo could have been better. Same colour blue as the umbro logo would be ideal.
-
I agree his injury problems last season is a worry, but he didn't suffer a recurrence of his prior hamstring injury but suffered a different (grade 2) one.
-
They have Mitrovic on their books as well. He was fantastic for Fulham and had a great world cup, so I think he'll be given the chance before Armstrong. Totally different players though, so you never know...
-
10? He has more than that, surely.
