  1. Sometimes you have to take off your blue and white spectacles and say whats annoying you. I do hope that over the summer the club sort out David Bentleys tendancy to 'go to ground' easily. I don't like it when the likes of Ronaldo, Drogba, Diouf and company do it, I also don't like it when Bentley does it. He really has no need to. Eventually he'll get a reputation and ,unlike the players with the big clubs, will stop getting free kicks at all. I've seen games when Diouf has been kicked all over the pitch and the ref just gives him nothing. He didnt do it alot today except for when he wasnt touched by Thatcher for the first booking. I know it was a rash challenge and probably a booking anyway but had it been Diouf we'd have been going mad. Ultimately, it cost them a player and made our afternoon easier, but in the grand scheme of things I hope Hughes sorts it out.
  2. It was quite close to where i was sat. There was a disagreement between two lads which kicked off. The security came in and removed one of the lads. However on the way past the front of the stage he seemed to kick off with the security guy who was throwing him out. More security rushed over to help, then all his mates from the table got up and piled into them. Lloyds went off stage but Taylor stayed on and made a joke of it. Shameful really. I think that incident will be the end of Prem League darts at King Georges Hall.
  3. I'm on the floor. If it's the same layout as last year I'll be to the right hand side of the stage as you look at it from the floor. I've already booked Friday off work.
  4. Katchit and Ursis put me slightly in profit for today. Also won £30 on the quadpot. Probably somewhere in the region of £300 up for the week despite only having 1 winner. Off skiing tommorow so it pays for the flight and accomidation! Only 4 weeks to go to Aintree!
  5. Worst day so far on Thursday. Pity I didnt have the placepot today £8,800 for a £1 stake! Final Day picks. Degas Art & Katchit Flight leader Control Man E/W Ursis & Saintsaire Arcalis & Trouble at Bay E/W @ 100/1
  6. Not actually backing any winners, just a lot of places so far. These placepots are worth investing in though. About £880,000 in the pot both days this week. Even if a lot of favs place its still pays a few bob. Quicky:- Limited Edition & New Little brik Our Vic Black Jack Win & Temoin to place Vodka Bleu LAY Gungadu Mololith , Material World , Kadoun Be interesting to see how Rhinestone Cowboy goes in the last tommorow. Off track for nigh on 3 years after looking the best young staying hurder around. Disappointing return earlier this season but this is the first time he's got his proper ground. 14/1 now, would have been about 2/1 for this in 2004. Edit at 4.20pm. No placepot to save me today. Now added Material World and Kadoun to my last race selections. Can back a few in that as it's 12/1 the field.

  8. In the first novice hurdle I'm looking at My Turn Now e/w. Second race I think and hope Denman will win. I should have backed him as my mate has rode him and has been on about him for 2 years now. However all the price has gone so I'll leave alone at 11/8. If i have an interest bet it might be on Gazzas Girl to place at 9/1 Champion Chase I'd have liked Nickname but it's dried a bit too much so I'll leave alone. Powerstation and Nation State in the fourth Fifth is an amateur race which I don't normally back in. An interest bet would be maybe Lou du Moulin Mas but I'll have a closer look tomorrow. Leaving the last alone as there's little to go on. Don't think I'll be backing anything majorly tommorow though (unlike hardy Eustace today ). Could do with some rain for the beef.
  9. Not that bad actually mate. Won £105.25 on the placepot to a £32 stake (see receipt below , I've had to post it on another forum after being accused of aftertiming! Cheeky gits) Had Juveigner not got beat by a nose I'd have been quite up. As it was I'm about £15 in profit. I've already had a look through tommorows card. I'll post my picks up in a mo. Date & time:2007-03-13 13:44:51 Bet type:TOTE_UPLP Stake:£32.00 Stake per line:£0.50 Refund:£0.00 Winnings:£105.25 Settled:Y Leg type:W Number of selections:12 Number of legs:6 Number of lines:64 Number of lines void:0 Number of lines won:1 Number of lines lost:63
  10. Right then. Just had a nice look through tommorows card and here's my first day selections. First race a little EW on Tipperary All Stars. Currently 20/1 Second race Fair Along. Currently 100/30 which I think is a decent price for a C&D winner whose unbeaten over fences and has already beat his main market rival, albeit receiving weight. Champion Hurdle I've already backed Hardy Eustace at 5/1. He's still available at 7/2 so I think I'll make him my big bet tommorow. I know he's getting on a bit but Brave Inca is out of form and on Decembers running I'm fairly confident he'll beat Detroit City this time. Last year he was reported to have had problems all season and still came 3rd. Fourth race Juveigner and maybe Heez a Dreamer Wasn't going to bother having a bet in the last race but as Gracechurch is 110/1 on Betfair I've risked a whole £1.50 on him to win. Anyone else got any fancies tommorow. If you have stick them on here and lets all have a laugh at each other losing dosh. Good luck and enjoy.
  11. Cheltenham time again next week from Tuesday - Friday. Easily my favourite week of the year even though I'm having to give going down there a miss this year. Anyone got any early opinions or antepost bets on anything already. I've backed Hardy Eustace for the Champion Hurdle at 5/1 earlier today. Oh, and T4E - you know who runs on Friday! Edit - Just backed Mister Hight in Wednesdays Coral Cup @12/1 and Fridays County Hurdle @ 14/1 NRNB
  12. Johnson, Danns and Donnelly all had spells on loan, as have Derbyshire and Gallagher in the current full squad. I just find it a bit strange that Peter has never gone out to an English club on loan especially if as people say Hughes doesnt fancy him at all. Even Frannys now been shipped off to Ipswich. As for never showing anything, I remember being at Newcastle last January when we won 1-0 after MGP handled the ball in. It was a dire game which only swung in Rovers favour when Peter came on as a second half sub.
  13. Just looking through the Rovers appearance statistics for this year and I do find it very strange the Sergio Peter has made only 1 start and 6 appearances as sub. This is in a season when we have had crippling injuries in midfield and his main competitor for a first team place was badly out of form for 4 months. Even when Pedersen hasnt been fit both Berner and Dunn have been used before Peter. I'd be interested to see the number of times he's been on the bench and not been used. For some reason Hughes either doesnt fancy him or doesnt trust him yet. I think it would be in everyones interests if he was to go out on loan similar to what Gallacher and Derbyshire hae done in the past. It would give him regular football, a chance to prove himself and Rovers a chance to monitor him in competitive games. I personally do not know whether he is good enough for this level or not. I'm certainly not advocating dropping MGP (not any more anyway!). However, it's two years since Peter first arrived on the first team scene and he still remains something of an enigma to us all.
  14. I reckon the FA will drag it's feet a while to wait and see if the Hammers are going down. Once it's more or less a foregone conclusion they'll then dock them a few points. Should the Hammers somehow claw themselves to a situation where the loss of any points is crucial the FA will just fine them.
  15. Just for anyone wondering the Premier League Darts at King Georges Hall on the 19th of April doesn't clash with a possible Rovers UEFA cup game. QF's 2nd leg is the week before and the semi final is the week after. Phew.
  16. He's been very dodgy in the first three weeks. He could easily have lost to both Scholten and Preistley. Jenkins has started the tournament well. He bottled it a bit first night but did well to beat Scholten and played well against Taylor tonight in defeat.
  17. I'm glad I'm not a Wigan fan because after watching their game against Arsenal just now I was fuming myself so they must be really peeved. Shocking big club favouring by the ref. Firstly they should probably have had a penalty when Flamini tripped Heskey clean through. Although most of the commentators focused on Flaminis arm of Emiles shoulder, it was the contact with his leg that brought him down. It wasnt a nailed on pen but it would have gone against us and I imagine it would have been given at the other end. Then the referee take his time allowing an injured Wigan player back on the pitch. Whilst down to 10 men Wigan concede. To make matters worse the goal is clearly offside. Wigan had been wasting quite a bit of time (as most clubs would do away to Arsenal when leading), especially Kirkland. In a rather uncharacteristic way, Henry then pulled the ball out of the net, presented it to Kirkland as if to say "where has your time wasting got you now" and got involved in a slanging match with him. Bit rich after their antics at Ewood a few weeks back. Arsenal then score a winner whereby Rosicky runs 5 yards offside whilst the right winger is played clear down the wing. The winger cuts it back for Rosicky to slam home. One day some team is going to really try and explot this and deliberatly tell their striker to keep running offside whilst the other players know to play the balls down the wing. Arsenal infront, everyone happy. Injury time board comes up. Despite all the timewasting, all the moaning by Arsenal players and Wenger and all the jotting down of the ref and the forth official, now the Arse are infront - 4 minutes. I'm glad that wasnt Rovers.
  18. Knowing I was going to be off work for a while I bought San Andreas off Amazon a couple of weekends ago. I'd played, finished and loved GTAIII but borrowed Vice City straight after and got bored of it. The break sure has done me good because this game is superb. It's not just the Missions , sub-missions and races but the pure amount of freedom you can have to do whatever you want. For example at the minute I'm nearly clearing all the missions (I think) onSan Fierro (the 2nd Island). However I've spent most of the afternoon knicking various speedy vehicles, taking them up to the top of Mount Chiliad and then plunging them off various sides of the cliffs. So stupid, so childish but such fun. I only went right to the top of the mountain in the first place because I knew it was the kind of game that would reqard you for trying it (the parachute and the mountain bike race) and that the sick game makers would have put a big wooden ramp there for me. Unlike some posters on here (I've just read most pages out of curiosity), I like the fact that some of the missions are different enough to cause you to retry several times (mainly the Zero remote missions). My only slight gripe is that in the bars, its too easy to win at pool. A little bit more time spent on the ball dynamics would have been nice. Top marks. £12 well spent that has passed a very dull week. Anyone know when the next installment is due out on the PS3 or XBox 360 ?
  19. 2 quick points. First SWP. Can't get in the Chelsea side for two years. When he does get in the side he doesnt look anything like the player he was at City. Why is he being picked ahead of people in form (or at least not as out of form)? Secondly, and most annoyingly, how bad was Michael Carrick. I've not noticed him too much this season but I imagine he's being carried at Man U at the moment by Scholes, Giggs and the awesome Ronaldo. I know he's not meant to be the most gifted footballer but every pass he played was awful. Either found a spaniard or was wieghted suicidally. As an example, in the second half he played two cross field balls to the right wing that were nowhere near an England man and just dribbled out of play or to their goalie. He was completely inept. If that had been Owen Hargreaves (before we realised he was being played out of poistion and was actually quite good) he would be being lambasted on every forum and radio/TV talkshow going. But as he's a golden boy at Man Utd he'll get rated 5 or 6 out of 10 in the rags tommorow. Shocking performance. Worryingly unlike some players on that pitch I think McClaren might be considering him as a first choicer.
  20. I've always found that for England U21 games players try to do to much on their own. They seem to be trying to prove they are good enough for the elevation to the full sqaud and often teamwork goes out of the window. Skillfull players are not content with beating one man but they have to take on two or three rather than play the simple ball. Strikers tend to shoot from anywhere within 25 yards regardless of a teammates position (Stead used to do this for the U21's). They only start to play as a unit when they need to (i.e crucial qualifiers or when they are behind like last night) To his credit most of the times Bentley tried to drift past a player it worked and quite often he'd receive the ball from his defenders, turn and play it forward. That's why he looked so much better than the likes of Milner and Young. As we now come to expect, that ability to create a couple of yards on the wing and whip a dangerous cross in was again evident but as Gumboots pointed out an England player was never expecting this and they were always on the back foot. One other point, how bad did the Spaniards make Huddlestone look! (And he's been playing well for Spuds)
  21. Bentley is back in the Under 21's and is playing quite well at the moment, better than most other Englanders (we've been pretty poor at the moment and are 1-0 down.) This reminded me of the last few posts in this thread. It seems rather daft now that Peter Taylor actually dropped Bentley for a U21 qualifyer at the start of the season from the entire squad!
  22. Found this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vueRZaoX3q4
  23. I know I'm living in fantasy land here, but do the winners of the UEFA cup still play the winners of the Champions League in that European Super Cup thing in August? Bring on the Barca.
  24. I should have given up the day I started 10 yrs ago. Too late now! Swindon, Blackpool and Partick - treble One More round EW 3.25 Ling
  25. Nah 3 is the worst one I feel. Mr T just doesnt cut the mustard. As films go the original is probably the best, but for cheesy entertainment Rocky IV is best. My favs to watch in order are:- IV , I , RB , II , III ................................................................. V
