When playing Villa. "Here for the money"
  2. The 'No Country / There Will Be Blood' debate is interesting. I've just added 'There Will be Blood' to the top of my rental list. I'll tell you if it's any good or not. My Decision is Final !
  3. Now I don't fancy that. Certainly not as much as No Country for Old Men. I presume your recommending it?
  4. This is true in a lot of cases. Only The Departed and the excellent Pans Labyrinth spring to mind as films I was expecting great things from and delivered in recent years.
  5. Bit behind the times but watched No Country for Old Men at the weekend and was a bit disappointed. It was a case of all the hype coming from it leading me to expect too much. It's not a bad film but, as everyone raved about it at the time, you just expect more. If I'd never heard of it and just watched it out the blue it would probably have been quite enjoyable. As it was I just kept waiting for it to take off and it never did.
  6. Joey Barton Speaks out:- "The first day's the toughest, no doubt about it. They march you in, hand you your uniform and force you to pose for the photographer while loads of fat, tattooed, skinheads shout abuse at you. That's when you know it's for real. A whole life blown away in the blink of an eye. Nothing left but all the time in the world to think about it. That's when it hits home. That's when you realise you've signed for Newcastle."
  7. I do.
  8. I think Wade bottled it again tonight. He was playing his A game early on ond was leading. However he seemed to get a little bit miffed with the crowd and, as soon as Taylor went in front, the self belief went from him. He won only 1 of the last 11 or so legs. Obviously a great player but needs to mentally toughen up a bit against The Power.
  9. Fair enough. I've never met him it was just how he seems to come across on camera. He's almost too confident of himself and has been making sure in every interview that people know he's the defending champion. If he plays tonight like he started against Mardle it should be a good final. However one of the reasons that Taylor has been so succesful down the years is because a lot of the opposition players bottle it and are beat before they get on stage. People like Part and Barney managed to lose that mentality. On past meeting I'm not sure whether Wade has. He's never played as good against Taylor as he has when hammering other players. We'll see tonight.
  10. Does anyone else find James Wade annoying. He just comes across as a bit full of himself to me. I bet he was a right pain in the backside in his pub league.
  11. This is now taken. Thanks
  12. I was going to put my hardback copy of Alan Shearers "my illustrated career "on ebay. However it very rarely sells I cant be bothered. If anybody wants it for free and wants to pick it up from Blackburn drop me a PM. Alternatively, if anyone wants me to post it to them and is willing to pay just the postage costs by paypal (I'll get the exact cost from the post office) PM me as well. It's in very good condition. First come first served.
  13. I remember being sat near the front of the bottom tier with the Rovers fans. As ever at Goodison the view was awful. When THAT goalmouth scamble happened you had no idea if the ball was 1 yard or 8 yards off the goal-line. The relief when it was eventually hoofed clear was almost audible.
  14. Wonder whatever happened to AC/DO , the Burnley based ACDC cover band. I only came across them months before they split. Shame cos they were superb.

I Took My Baby On A Saturday Bang Boy Is That Girl With You Yes We're One And The Same Now I Believe In Miracles And A Miracle Has Happened Tonight But, If You're Thinkin' About My Baby It Don't Matter If You're ... edit - never realised how sinister those lyrics were. Good job they weren't read out in court !!
  16. Not quite in the class of Pans Labyrinth, but Guillermo Del Toro's The Devils Backbone is quite good for anyone who's not seen it. Another subtitled slightly strange supernatural film set in the Spanish Civil War.
  17. I used to wind the Bolton fan up at work with that one. "Just because you don't have any rivals, don;t try and bully in and be ours".
  18. Lets calm down and see if we actually do appoint him. I still believe if the board really wanted him he'd be here now. If they're prepared to look at an unproven, inexperienced Alan Shearer first then they obviously aren't that keen.
  19. What a load of truths, half truths and codswallop. Still, some will believe it all.
  20. In that case you may have been a little bit blinkered for the past 12 months. You should have become hardened to the idea. He has regularly been letting slip comments about the lack of funding available to him at Rovers and how frustrating he finds it. These have been said mostly in the transfer window. It was also plainly obvious that he wanted the Newcastle job if he was offered it. If he wanted that job then it was always very likely that he'd consider the likes of City, Villa, Everton, Spurs etc..
  21. BBC are reporting that Hughes snapped up a bargain in Pedersen for £1.5mill. Think they'll find it was our previous trophy-winning manager who signed him. Not that I'm bitter
  22. I know it's been brought up elsewhere but I'm going to use this thread to re-ask this question:- After developments this week, would you be happy to see Mark Hughes still as manager of Rovers next season?? No in my opinion. Can't command respect from current and incoming players now. How can he persuade the likes of Bentley and Santa Cruz that this is the place to be after this.
  23. That is probably one of your best ever posts. Unfortunately I doubt many people will bother to decipher it.
  24. But he also did a cracking job for 80% of his time at Ewood and also won us our second major piece of silverware since the war so let's give it a rest eh.
