2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂
Hasta replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There was no agenda against him. We knew we were short in midfield if we got any injuries, lost Travis to injury and then lost Baker who had been our first choice cover. We therefore needed a player who throughout January would be a first choice midfielder, and then would flit between first choice and cover for the remainder of the season. We brought in someone who couldn't get into the side at the bottom of the league. It was disappointing that again there was no effort made by the club to support the position the team had got themselves into. Forshaw then started some games and looked fairly terrible. His appearances lately haven't been so bad, but I still dont want him as 3rd choice midfielder who may well have to step in for long periods if one of Trav or Tron is injured. However I suspect he is quite cheap and willing to accept a short term deal, so fits with our strategy of unable to make long-term financial commitments. -
Tronstadt, Batth and Brittain are the standout 3. They would all have been deserved winners. Travis has been good. Hyam has been good except for the dodgy spell when Batth was missing. Ohashi has done OK but is nowhere near the top 3. Beck was outstanding for the first few months.

What do they expect? It’s not 1889 any more.

https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/april/26/tronstad-crowned-player-of-the-year-/ Sondre crowned player of the season. Fair play to him. Although for me it was Danny Baath. Amazed he wasn’t in the first 3 even.

Referee levels it up with a red card for Luton.
-
There’s no real difference directly for us if Luton win or draw. If we get to 68 then Coventry would need a win to be above us next week, regardless of them drawing or losing here. Indirectly though Luton winning is better as the more pressure on Preston to get a result at Bristol City next week the better.
-
Not wishing to be greedy, but could do with clawing back a bit of the Bristol City goal difference today. Coventry down to 10 men!
-
No surprise we’ve picked back up again since he came back from injury. Possibly my player of the season. Really hope we keep him for next season.
-
To be fair he’s only 22. Van Hecke made similar mistakes for us at a similar age. I’m sure he’s improved since.

They are missing quite a few, and have three lads 20 and under playing who don’t play that much. -

Why would Watford at home, a team in the bottom half of the form table and who have a poor away record, be tough to get a positive result against? -

They probably need Woodrow to score so they can justify offering him a contract for next season and get his agent his 15% -

A win today puts us one step closer to being Dead Rubber Champions 24/25. COYB -
Hope you’ve snapped up the 300/1 for us to finish top 6.

Stanley’s win today takes a bit of pressure off and keeps a decent gap. Otherwise it would have been a 6 pointer! Tranmere now shitting it,

The main point being everyone said before we got a new manager when we were 5th that we needed someone to motivate the existing group and not change it too much. But he changed it within 115 minutes for the next two games (and defeats). That (and dropping Tronstadt in some games and Gueye for Woodrow) just stick in the mind. I can’t recall other details. But presuming his job was to try and keep us in the top 6, he couldn’t have failed any more. Now the pressure is off it feels like pointless irrelevance. -

Stoke started a back 3. In his 2nd and 3rd game in charge he switched to an unfamiliar shape. Ludicrous having take over a team in 5th. Although to be fair to all managers, we needed competent cover for the New Year injuries and we got Forshaw, Woodrow and an unfit Dennis. -

But he talked about previous performances, not just the Swansea game. You could extend it if you want from 5 games, but it’s absolute nonsense to suggest that there were no good performances or results before Ismael came in. However when people eliminate the Lowe’s wins and only focus on the Eustace results to prove form had gone then that is clearly deflection And even in Eustace worst run of the season, he played tougher fixtures and generated better performances. Plus he wanted out and the players probably knew it. , -

Which was a bit daft considering what you replied to with your first sentences. But even under Eustace the Sunderland, Burnley and Leeds performances (without the key Trav / Tronstadt axis) were still decent. His penultimate game against Preston was also good for 80 minutes. It’s not like we were completely shocking. Lowe proved the spirit and mentality was still there with his 2 wins. A meagre 1 point per game return from the new manager would have still kept us in with a sniff, but we couldn’t manage that.
