  1. I imagine CB number 5 will be O’Riordan or one of the academy lads.
  2. It won’t have been my first game as Dad will have taken us to many games before this one and I would have just played down the front, but my first game I can recall being at is the Man U cup tie in 85.
  3. Is it based on average rating across all games? Or most POTM won throughout the season?
  4. Sanderson is a very “blood and thunder” type of player, but I’m not sure how good a defender he actually is. He did a job to cover injuries when we brought him in, but he’d be a 4th / 5th choice option for me, so I’d only bring in if it’s dirt cheap and we don’t fancy our academy lads as squad cover. (As per @Exiled_Rover post above which I’ve just read !)
  5. Kargbo might come on next season, but hasn’t contributed much this season and wasn’t what we needed in January. Rubeiro was the only bright spark in that window.
  6. From where we were at the start of the season , success From Christmas , failure.
  7. I wonder if replacing Baker with a suitable replacement would have been worth 2 points. Still, at last they saved a few bob to help towards their KPI's
  8. It’s not important. It’s just my preference.
  9. I meant the only reason for wanting United to win was to stop Spurs winning anything and keep that run going.Thats why I would be a bit undecided. Same reason I wanted Liverpool to beat Newcastle in the League Cup final.
  10. United have just got fortunate with opposition red cards in the last couple of games. Lyon would have beaten them with 11, and should still have beaten them with 10 but for a spectacular collapse. Bilbao went down to 10 and fell apart. Loving the implication that United have been regularly embarrassing themselves in the league infront of 70,000 paying home supporters, and getting dumped out of the cup at home to Fulham, just to concentrate on the Europa League. Spurs could still screw up an all Premier League final, but if it happens I’m not sure who I’d want to win. Probably Spurs, but I do like these supposed ‘giant’ clubs not winning things for years and years.
  11. Cantwell is OK but massively over-hyped. I don't know what he was like when he was younger to get the reputation, but he's just a decent Championship player. I'm still not sure what his best attributes are meant to be as he gives the ball away and get's dispossessed far too easily. Technically comparing him to Adam Wharton is clearly unfair, but someone like Tom Cairney was leagues ahead of him on a technical level. Rothwell had more drive. His vision isn't the best. When he signed I felt it was a coup and we were lucky to have him and that it would probably be for just one season. Now I'd be surprised if someone with genuine promotion aspirations came in for him. However, like Dolan, if he left the chances are the replacement would be unproven or unready.
  12. I didn't under Kean. Renewed the day he was gone. When we went down to League One, we had already removed Coyle and replaced him with Mowbray who was clearly a significant improvement. The possibility of a season against teams we rarely play, where we might actually be successful was quite appealing compared to just "giving it a right good go". Not that I'd want to do it again. Now though, the people running the club are openly admitting the Venues money has dried up, players will be sold, no significant funds reinvested in proven players and we will rely on academy more and more. It appears they are financially bonused to achieve running without investment. Add in managers are walking away because of the situation, players who are popular are being allowed to leave with no visible action to extend contracts and that they appointed an unpopular manager who collapsed our season and it's a perfect storm. That's before we mention Rudy, Suhail, Yasirs twitter exchanges etc. The last 4 results have probably done more to save season ticket sales than they realised.
  13. There was no agenda against him. We knew we were short in midfield if we got any injuries, lost Travis to injury and then lost Baker who had been our first choice cover. We therefore needed a player who throughout January would be a first choice midfielder, and then would flit between first choice and cover for the remainder of the season. We brought in someone who couldn't get into the side at the bottom of the league. It was disappointing that again there was no effort made by the club to support the position the team had got themselves into. Forshaw then started some games and looked fairly terrible. His appearances lately haven't been so bad, but I still dont want him as 3rd choice midfielder who may well have to step in for long periods if one of Trav or Tron is injured. However I suspect he is quite cheap and willing to accept a short term deal, so fits with our strategy of unable to make long-term financial commitments.
  14. Tronstadt, Batth and Brittain are the standout 3. They would all have been deserved winners. Travis has been good. Hyam has been good except for the dodgy spell when Batth was missing. Ohashi has done OK but is nowhere near the top 3. Beck was outstanding for the first few months.
  15. What do they expect? It’s not 1889 any more.
  16. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2025/april/26/tronstad-crowned-player-of-the-year-/ Sondre crowned player of the season. Fair play to him. Although for me it was Danny Baath. Amazed he wasn’t in the first 3 even.
  17. Referee levels it up with a red card for Luton.
  18. There’s no real difference directly for us if Luton win or draw. If we get to 68 then Coventry would need a win to be above us next week, regardless of them drawing or losing here. Indirectly though Luton winning is better as the more pressure on Preston to get a result at Bristol City next week the better.
  19. Not wishing to be greedy, but could do with clawing back a bit of the Bristol City goal difference today. Coventry down to 10 men!
  20. No surprise we’ve picked back up again since he came back from injury. Possibly my player of the season. Really hope we keep him for next season.
  21. To be fair he’s only 22. Van Hecke made similar mistakes for us at a similar age. I’m sure he’s improved since.
  22. Or we beat Sheff United and Burnley, already up, throw their game against Millwall to deny us.
  23. Bristol City have Leeds Away then Preston at home.
  24. Boro hit underside of bar from 8 yards in a practically open net.
