  1. "I can see Big Sam waving goodbye, God it looks like Big Sam. Must be the clouds in my eyes"
  2. Let's go in on 18 minutes, get the whistles out on 30 minutes, throw a chicken on the stage and then leave on 75 minutes.
  3. Exactly as Andyroversmad says above. We have a shortlist of candidates we are interviewing to find the best man for the job. Suddenly a candidate becomes available whose last three activities in football has led Bolton to relegation, failed at Wigan and then left Houston Dynamos when they are bottom of the league. Despite all of the interviews being completed, suddenly this guy becomes available, becomes front runner and gets the job. It stinks.
  4. Barcelona need to beat Granada live on Sky Sports at 4pm to win La Liga. Only Ruben Rochina stands in their way.
  5. As Bolton have spent most of that time trying to build every other local team up as their 'big rival', maybe they can officially have Stanley.
  6. When they have had to replace guitarists and the drummer previously, they've always gone back to ex-members who have been in the band previously. Stevie Young and Chris Slade both had spells in the band in the late 80s / early 90s so, when they stepped in a few years ago, in a way it still felt like the same band. Alongside them, Cliff Williams and Brian Johnson had been in the group over 25 years each so they are no longer stand ins.I know there are no ex singers to turn to but turning to Axl feels completely wrong. It stinks of having 30 expensive sold out dates to complete and needing a 'name' to justify the huge ticket costs.
  7. Axl Rose now confirmed as ACDC guest singer for the remainder of the Rock or Bust tour. FFS
  8. You could see the fear in Stokes eyes as he prepared for that over. Bottled it.
  9. AXL/DC ? No thanks.
  10. Primarily Cole was quick and could be used as an outlet when under pressure. Once on the ball he could beat a man or hold it up and bring players into play. Not knocking Rhodes as he is probably the better finisher but Cole was far more of an all round player. I was surprised how good he was when he joined to be honest.
  11. Sega themselves were perfectly capable of utilising the second processor for 3D. The vast majority of the 'elite' games were done by sega - fighters megamx, virtua fighter, Nights , Panzer Dragoon, Daytona and the (for the time) perfection of Sega Rally. ID software also managed it with Quake and Exhumed. The problem was most third parties couldn't achieve anything like those titles. EA demonstrated this by making an absolute shambles of FIFA98, which was superb on the Playstation and the less said about the Saturn version of Doom the better !!
  12. One of the reasons I still fire the Saturn up is because modern games have too much story and cut scenes. Too many characters and too much plot. During most weeks, due to work I may only get 3 or 4 spells of half an hour long to jump onto a console. I want a quick arcade type game that I can chuck on, play and then come off. That's how it was for most games in the 80s and 90s. Now they are too deep. I do like a game with a story behind it (loved Deus Ex for example) but if you don't revisit it for 2 weeks you have forgotten what the hell is going on.
  13. Once you start to slip, getting third party is not easy. Sega lost ground with the Saturn, despite being powerful enough, was notoriously difficult for third party programmers to work on. A lot of these developers new really returned for the Dreamcast and without enough games and developers as system is dead. Whilst my old playstations, Xbox and Dreamcast gather dust in the loft, my Saturn is still active alongside my ps4 though. Prob my fave console ever :-)
  14. Good old Ciccio. http://youtu.be/aNrdEtCHrtc
  15. Do you know what. After the draw last Saturday I will probably have to drag myself down to Ewood for most home games coming up. If we actually gave some of these lads a go, at least it would provide some interest to proceedings.
  16. This has become almost fact now.We ended up 11 points clear of relegation the season before. He left in 2004 after 4 games, the last being a home draw against Manchester United. The problem was that people then still expected us to be challenging for Europe every season. We were probably too adventurous for our own good under Souness which cost us in a lot of games but the myth that we were doomed when he eventually went is bunkum.
  17. Agreed Bob. Superb evening for it, great atmosphere (especially when the sun started setting) and an electric performance.
  18. Not at Donnington although the Sunday looks great. Love the new Slash & The Conspirators album (far, far better than his last), saw them at manchester last year and they were excellent. Just wish One of the MC gigs was at a weekend other than London. Anyway getting ahead of myself. AC/DC first !
  19. I will probably see you there for that Abs. I've been a big Alice Copper fan, especially of his 70's stuff, but never seen him live. As a support for Motley Crue that's a no-brainer for me.
  20. Saw The Treatment again in Manchester last night. Quality young classic rock band who are decent in the studio but superb live.
  21. I would expect martin Ollson to be away before the end of the window so I am leaving him out of equations. If he stays then that's a big bonus. However Orr looked good going forward but, after a couple of solid early games, struggled towards the back end of last season. You can't fault his commitment but that will only get you so far. The same applies to Jason Lowe. Neither looked a premiership defender at the end of last season and I have no reason to think they will be top class in this league. Dann should be extremely competent in this league bit I thought he would be a good signing last season and he was a walking disaster. From what I remember a back four of Givet, Dann, Lowe and Hanley didn't cover themselves in glory at championship Cardiff last year.
  22. That's your opinion stated as fact. Personally I'm not too sure if Jason Lowe, Bradley Orr and Marcus Ollson are good enough to be in a top 6 championship side, especially with the points that onlyonejackwalker made above. Also the jury is out on Hanley. He may well join the ranks of Taylor and Broomes who had to step into the fold young and never lived up to their promise.
  23. Taylor beat Wade 10 - 8 in the Premier League final and hit two nine-darters along the way !
  24. Just watched it through again and thoroughly pleased for McCoy who is a genuine decent bloke. Well done to all who won. I was just beginning to get excited with Maljimar as I stood to win quite a bit if it even finished in the first 5 but unfortunately it slithered and fell at Bechers second time around.
  25. I've backed Maljimar E/W at 40's at the start of the week and also had £3.50 on The Package at 95/1 on Betfair back in January. I backed Big Fella Thanks last year (see back in this thread) and he ran well but didnt seem to last home and faed into 6th. I'll be a bit cheesed off if he wins this year. I'm off out today but will hopefully find a nice pub somewhere to watch it in !
