  1. I bought that Kooks album the other week and was quite impressed with it. Having completed the redocaration of part of the new house, I've unpacked all my old CD's this weekend. In the car now I have the Temptations, The White Stripes - De Stijl (my favourite), The Jam - All mod cons, Carter USM - 30something, Neds Atomic Dustbin and Gomez. There is nothing better than getting all your old CD's out every now and then. Even they are mostly crap.
  2. Dunny is the answer. If he's still fit in January, I can see us making a move for him. He is a wonderful passer of the ball.
  3. No need to be nervous. McCarthy has won the champions league for God's sake, so this tie will be taken very easiliy in our stride. I feel a rout coming on with McCarthy leading it. 5-0 Rovers, and we march into the group stages.
  4. Sutton is a total c*nt and does not deserve the honour of wearing the blue and white halves again. Is everybody on this board under 18? Does anyone else remember how he left? If he comes back, I will personally give Rob Coar and John Williams a right good shoe-ing, and they would thank me for it. It will never happen.
  5. Kevin Davies occasionally ran around a bit and boosted profits at Levers pie shop. Dahlin didn't even have the decency to do that.
  6. This thread appears from time to time and the same old names are always trotted out. The worst player we ever signed was Martin Dahlin. Every other clown we have had over the years has had some kind of redeeming feature. Even Grabbi had his moments. Dahlin however was a waste of Oxygen, and if I saw him in the street I would probaly try to run him over.
  7. Defensively we look absolutely shambolic. Ooijer clearly hasn't adjusted yet and both and Zurab need to practise communicating with each other and teh rest of the team. This is not helped by our right back being completely unaccustomed to the role. Bert is not the answer to our full back woes. That said, we have signed Henchoz who as soon as he is fit should slot in very nicely at centre half. Zurab to full back and we are laughing. Going forward, I thought that Nonda looked very sharp, as did Petersen and Bentley. Tugay was clearly tired - two games in three days is clearly too much for the old timer now. Taking him off was the right thing t do, althoug I must confess to being a little retiscent when the Axe came on, but he was flawless second half. Bentley and Petersen look a real threat with their pace, crossing and range of passsing. Not sure if Reid will automatically slot back in. McCarthy has now bagged three in 5 games. That is what we needed. He and Zonda could well do a lot of damage when settled. I also thought that Jeffers had a few moments in the first half. On the whole, a good result, and promising going forward. Henchoz and Nelson would however both be very welcome additions to the team right now.
  8. We'll win this comfortably. City are a dreadful side at the moment, and there is clear division in their ranks. Rovers 2- 0. Neill pen and McCarthy.
  9. Lampard needs to be dropped in my view. Gerrard brought into the middle and Beckham re-instated on the right wing. Either that or give Lennon a starting birth out wide. Lampards performances in an England shirt have been woeful.
  10. Barca receive more money than any other club in the world from their kit sponsor (Nike) because there is no other branding on the shirt. The deal is up for renewal at the moment and I can tell you that the going rate is €27m PER SEASON. Putting a charity on the shirt, rather than a commercial entity simply allows Barca to extract even more cash out of the kit sponsor due to the additional coverage the shirt will receive. Nothing altruistic about it.
  11. The two gentlemen that are trying to buy West Ham are the guys who ultimately own the registrations for the two Argentinians that have just gone there. They also own an interest in the Corinthians club in Argentina. West Ham are a plc and so have to stay quiet until they have something concrete to announce, but lets be honest, these two guys would not have been told to sign for the Hammers if they weren't sure that the deal was going to go through.
  12. He was sold by both Charlton and Bolton for attacking his own teammates in training. He's a thug, end of story. That said, when he puts his mind to it, he's actually a very capable centre half who is a very valuable member of the squad. I would not like to lose him, especially as we have already sold Bellamy and Dickov - if we are not careful, we might start becoming popular and easy to play against. None of us wants that.
  13. That's a fair point Dave. They don't have to go back home and help out with the schools etc, so it is to their credit that they do. I know David James has recently set up a foundation for helping underpriviledged children, as has Quinton Fortune. It's good to see them using their wealth and success to put something back. Sadly, for every David James, there are about 100 Craig Bellamy's.
  14. Dave, Lets not have a debate about how bright premiership footballers are shall we? At the risk of making a sweeping generalisation (which is so unlike me) they are all as thick as two short planks but just happen to be extremely good at a sport that pays them vast swathes of cash every week. They are not curing cancer, or splitting the atom, there are probably less than a dozen in the premiership that have any kind of further education qualifications, and most them would be in jail if they weren't playing football. Sadly, if salary was linked to IQ, there woud be a lot of players on minimum wage!
  15. We were perfectly clear, unfortunately, your average australian isn't that bright and accordingly, Bert signed rather than the talented one. Still, I heartily expect Berts cell mate to sign in the next week or so. If they can't get out on parole together, I think they will both stay.
  16. It is great news about Nelsen, especially after Reid and MGP have also signed new deals. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it, but wouldn't it be super if Lucas followed their examples?
  17. I bought the new Razorlight album last week and was a bit dissappointed to be honest. I also thought the latest Snow Patrol wasn't as good as the first offering, although did have a few very good tracks on it. Picked up one of the older White Stripes albums as well - De Stijl. Absolutely excellent. Especially the opening track. He's a very clever lyricist on the quiet. Elephant is one of those albums that somehow never gets taken out of the CD changer in any of the cars. This morning I was listening to "A briefcase full of blues" by the Blues Brothers. Fabulous Live R+B by talented musicians, rather than what passes for R+B these days. Rubber biscuit is pure class.
  18. Where is Ashley Ward these days? He must still be playing, no doubt at his 23rd club.
  19. The club did a deal with sportworld that was too sweet to turn down. Sportsworld are desperate to get credibility in football with their own brand (Lonsdale) so they paid silly money for us, Birmingham and Sunderland. We are now the only premiership side remaining, and even we are costing them hundreds of thousands of pounds a year as they are not getting a return. Hence the kits are rubbish and will no doubt be delivered late. Sportsworld want out, so now is the time to get a proper brand on board with good quality kits.
  20. Click on the item, then click about the item. That goives you the detail. If you have collected the blender with the ice and cointreau, you then need to click on the thing that has lime in it. Don't click "about item", just click the icon so that the red square goes around it. Then click on the picture of the blender that is still in the main window. Repeat with rum.
  21. I found the key, opened the cupboard and found a locked metal tin. No suggestion of how to open it of course....
  22. I am absolutely stuck on this. I have four items left to find and I can't get any further. I've made half a cocktail and I have no clue what the book on the bar is for. All help gratefully received.
