  1. Actually, I think I replied to the wrong post! Is the Queens Park game a royalist reference? Will that cause conflict on the board?
  2. A very heavy-handed approach, Mike. You would have to have had a complete irony by-pass to define any of those posts as political.
  3. Careful! I heard that celebrity Claret(lol), Livesey, actually bragging on radio that he "couldn't bring himself to say Tony Blackburn's name." Years ago, I remember reading about the trials of a lowlife Burnley thug, who was called Steven Blackburn- so there us a God! "Bill, George..anything but Sue.."
  4. Never tried to read Joseph Conrad then!
  5. Agreed. I think we have had a run of poor, inconsistent goalkeepers over the last few years. Before that, we were largely spoilt with the likes of Sir Roger, Arnold, Gennoe,Flowers and Friedel.
  6. Yes...but because we are now operating in a lower league/at a much lower level than when the owners arrived...
  7. I am on a high. God, I needed that. What a performance! I have watched the goals again and again and I have loved reading the site. Not unlike Leonard Cohen/Bob Dylan/Morrissey, perhaps some of us only write, when we're pissed off!
  8. Yep. I raise you Jim Arnold...Stafford Rangers, Rovers and then Everton with Kendall
  9. A bit strong? I just thought Travis went in to win the ball. Not sure the Wed player did much wrong from the video, though.
  10. Yes, I have tried too. There was another great Field TV goal on London region's Big Match. It was a brilliant lob at Vicarage Rd-a bit like Shearer's v Norwich (7-1)-and I remember his toothless celebration...and me and my mate miming it at a disco the following week!
  11. He got a two even better ones for us v Watford and Charlton around 1972/3.
  12. Pretty sure we were on the way up until he left that December lol
  13. Well, the evidence is certainly stacking up. So much money wasted on duds in purchases and lengthy extensions... And I can still remember how Lee and Furphy quickly put together functional teams through their own knowledge of players, who could do a job.
  14. Blimey, Tyrone, I can almost see you in The Snug in the other "Rovers", mouthing "Common!"
  15. But Lenihan is saying "Top 6 is still the aim" and Tony is "hoping history won't repeat itself!"
  16. A 12 points deduction would put them in the bottom 2. However, I noted that the expedient penalty for Brum was calculated, so as not to do too much damage in terms of relegation!
  17. The first thing not right is the length of the latest contract... Something certainly changed after that first game. I am assuming there was a row. I don't believe that it is the interview that is odd. TM just( rightly) omits what happened to generate the hurried departure in the first week of the season.
  18. Dustbin season-another one!
  19. Yep. I had to smile at a poster, who was watching a recent game on TV with his wife, who kept saying, "Why doesn't the one in the gloves try to stop the cross?"
  20. Agreed. Huge mistake to let Byrom go in the first place.
