  1. ***GAV`S £50 BET UPDATE*** Last nights mugging at the JJB was watched by a surprisingly low crowd of 23574. Most clubs sell out when they play the Buccaneers at home for the 1st time...but Wigan failed to do so. Nevertheless, Wigan`s average gate still went up & cracked the 21k barrier for the 1st time since they played Chelski on the 1st day of the season. Here`s how it looks:- Rovers average gate stands at 20242 after 13 home games. Wigan`s average gate now stands at 21048 after 15 home games (up an average of 180) (Rovers are an average of 806 behind) Rovers total attendances stand at 263149 Wigan`s attendances now stand at 315726 (Rovers are 52577 behind...with 2 games in hand) Both teams next 3 home games are:- Rovers ...Villa, Boro & WIGAN Wigan...West Ham, BIG CLUB & Villa
  2. A wonderful display yesterday. Shame about the final result tho At one point during the 2nd half, SKY stated that Rovers had over 80% of the possession, just before Bellamy levelled. Chins up guys!
  3. Jan. I work the 4 on 4 off shift pattern (12hr shifts) There`s been a few occasions this year i couldn`t go to a match, because i`ve been working. There`s also been occasions when i`ve missed a night match because i finished my day shift at 7pm, drove home, had my tea & was too knackered to make the effort to get ready to traipse down to Ewood. Instead (& if the game was on telly) i`d watch the 2nd half in the pub...all cosy & warm, with a beer.....all for a couple of quid. ...the 4 on 4 off shift pattern, also makes buying a season ticket (for me) a no-go....as i`d be working on alot of matchdays.
  4. Yes! Exactly!! instead of that bloody annoying "get into `em" You never know, some of the old songs might come back.... You are my sunshine.... No nay never.... Never felt more like singing the blues.... If i had the wings of an angel.... The east side...the west side.... I was born under the Blackburn End... I live in hope.....
  5. That`s why he`s so well respected on this board
  6. My mums hubby is a dingle fan (yes i am embarrassed ) but has actually started to watch Stanley on a regular basis. He`s from Accy originally but has supported the six-toes all his life. He`s started going on the Stanley with a couple of his mates this last year & says "anything is better than watching the crap served up ont turd" & "at least Stanley are showing some ambition". I dearly want to take the p1ss out of him, but i have decided to actively encourage his support of Stanley.....in the hope Bumley lose him for good! I wonder if Stanley would do a Tranmere of old........& play their home games on a Friday night?
  7. Why not have kids tickets on a rising scale? eg:- under 8s....free (must be with an adult......you get the adult ££ after all) under 12s....£1 (must be with an adult......same as above) under 16s....£2.50 students/OAPs....£5 The club could make these 'offers' to people who subscribe to a club membership scheme ...of say couple of quid a season. That would cover costs of running a database of fans.....(something the club can 'tap into' for future reference purposes) A database of information would also be useful to see if a scheme like this actually works over a longer period of time. Just an idea.......over to the wolves on here!
  8. hmmmm ...would i be correct in my assumption that the BBE drummers are people of the 'special' variety?
  9. Going to the Rovers used to be comparable to having a few pints in the local. Nowadays you can get well trolley`d for the price of a ticket. People are choosing the cheaper option......basic economics.
  10. When i was a kid (many moons ago) i used to go down to Ewood with a couple of school friends & their die-hard Rovers fan grandma It only cost something like 50p to get in, so i used to ask my mum for for pocket money (about £1) & tootle off to Ewood with my pals. I`d even get some sweets on the way there! Nowadays, it`s a bl00dy expensive trip for kids to see the Rovers. A quick glance on the official site says, juniors:- £15 -catagory A+ £12 -catagory A £5 - catagory B I have 6 neices & nephews who all support Rovers but very rarely go- mainly because those prices aren`t pocket money prices. It`s downright scandalous to ask kids to pay £15 FFS!!! Bellamy11 stated Rovers need to get fans in on a long term basis but also understands the short term needs. I agree, BRFC need the dosh but are losing the next generation of supporters coming through the gates. Clubs like Liverpool & Man Ure have a conveyerbelt of gloryhunting youngsters ready to take the place of any seasonticket holder who gives it up.....Rovers don`t!! As previous seasons have proved.....when we lose our fans, it`s hard to get them back & it affects gates in a big way. One way of turning BRFC`s declining gates problem around, is to get the kids into Ewood before they discover the bigger clubs down the road. A concerted effort by BRFC to offer kids tickets for a quid (for every game) will hopefully lead to a new breed of diehard fans they can fleece in later years! Why not just try it for one season??...if that don`t work, then we`re buggered!!
  11. ***GAV`S £50 BET UPDATE*** After Blackburn Rovers 2nd highest league gate of 22504 against Real Madrid conquerers Arse-nil (geddit? )...here`s how it looks:- Rovers average attendance is 20242 after 13 home games. (up 188) Wigan`s average attendance is now 20868 after 14 home games. (Rovers are an average of 626 behind Wigan) Rovers total attendances are 263149 Wigan`s total attendances are 292152 (Rovers behind by 29003 but have 1 game in hand) ...both teams next 3 home games are:- Rovers ... Aston Villa, Boro & WIGAN!! Wigan... Man Ure, West ham & the big club (i`d say 1 guarranteed sell-out there & 2 average gates) Q...How many tickets will Rovers offer Wigan?? 8k???
  12. Well done Rovers! Excellent result!
  13. The bet24 logo compliments the red away shirt...don`t you think?
  14. Newcastles all time record goal scorer. Premier league record goal scorer. England golden boot (euro 96) ...I`m sure Newcastle could fill their ground several times over to pay homage to their greatest ever player....& one of Englands. Cannot see why they should let in several thousand Celts & leave several thousand Geordies locked outside. Strange decision in my view.
  15. ....err and m...an@l $hit
  16. Thought they might`ve played the 1996 England team or a premiership XI.....or even a world XI
  17. How crap is Man Ure`s midfield? Liverpool only won 1-0 but they annihilated Utd in midfield. That was so good to see. Let`s now pray for a Wigan victory at Cardiff!
  18. ***GAV`S £50 BET UPDATE*** After a poor gate of 18220 against the league`s whipping boys Sunderland, here`s how it looks:- Rovers average attendance is 20054 after 12 home games. (down 166) Wigan`s average attendance is now 20868 after 14 home games. (Rovers are an average of 814 behind Wigan) Rovers total attendances are 240645 Wigan`s total attendances are 292152 (Rovers behind by 51507 but have 2 games in hand) ...both teams next 3 home games are:- Rovers ...Arsenal, Aston Villa & Boro (3 average gates??) Wigan... Man Ure, West ham & the big club (i`d say 1 guarranteed sell-out there & 2 average gates)
  19. I`m thinking Wigan are a bit of a mystery club this year. They are quite capable of taking 30k to Cardiff or sell out for Old Trafford, but they only managed to get home gates of 20553 vs Notlob & 20639 vs Rovers (2 traditional Lancashire rivals) which makes me wonder if they come here in their droves.....or just not bother . I think alot will depend on if they are still in with a shout of a European spot. I think you`re right with the Citeh prediction.
  20. Yeah, i`d use this option to get home ^^ Come off M66 at Junction 2 (A58) heading towards Heywood (Rochdale) & follow signs for M62 (junction 19). I reckon it`d save you a good half hour, rather than using the M65/M61/M62 option.
  21. I`m starting to think that aswell These are our remaining home games this season:- Sunderland (3k following) Arsenal (3k) Aston Villa (2-3k) Middlesbrough (2k) Wigan (2-8k depends if they`re chasing Euro spot) Liverpool (8k) Chelsea (2-8k...will have championship wrapped up by then, so who knows??) Man City (5-8k....depending on their results) ...If you add those to an average home crowd of 17-18k, it doesn`t look good for Gav`s £50 Yet, we still live in hope! **BTW**...Wigan only have Man Ure, West ham, Big club, Villa & Portsmouth left to play at home.
  22. An excellent marketing ploy! Well done Wigan!!
  23. It`s bewildering really, intit? How some players have to be 'lifted' & 'motivated' to play the game they are substantially paid to play? If they are lucky, they`ll play maybe 50 games a year, then they whinge when they get dropped.....then when they reach 'safety' they take their foot off the gas & saunter the rest of the season......whilst we freeze our nuts off supporting & clapping them. Come on Rovers players!! A run of half a dozen good results could put us in European spot, meaning you can sod the Intertoto & have a longer sunshine break in the summer! ....Now if that cannot motivate an end of season run......then we`re all DOOMED!!
  24. couldn`t have said it better myself!
  25. ***GAV`S £50 BET UPDATE*** After Wigan`s biggest gate of the season (probably ever!!) an attendance of 25023 vs Liverpool, here`s how it looks:- Rovers average attendance is 20220 after 11 home games. Wigan`s average attendance is now 20868 after 14 home games. (up 320) (Rovers are an average of 648 behind Wigan) Rovers total attendances are 222425 Wigan`s total attendances are 292152 (Rovers behind by 69727 but have 3 games in hand......that`s an average of 23242 for each game, as it stands now. Can we achieve that?? ) ...both teams next 3 home games are:- Rovers ...Sunderland, Arsenal & Aston Villa (3 average gates??) Wigan... Man Ure, West ham & the big club (i`d say 1 guarranteed sell-out there & 2 average gates)
