  1. From being a 500-1 outsider at the start of the tournament and ending up as a finalist, these championships will always be remembered for the underdog. After going 4-0 down, his confidence must have been at it's lowest so to get 2 sets in the end despite not playing as well as he has, he can hold his head up high. I think he managed to get 50k for that which was 5 times as much as he's received in his entire career so far (if I remember correctly). Well done John Part! Mr Shepherd, we'll see you next year!
  2. Jeffers scored to put Sheff Wed 2-1 up against Gallagher and Preston. Good to see Jeffers back on the score sheet after so many injures. Only 5 mins for Gallagher to bang in an equaliser! Edit: Maybe not, he just got replaced!
  3. It was lucky that the referee didn't book that American dude on their side for a high foot, otherwise Mokoena probably would have gone.
  4. The big guns are out... Painter (who looks like a fat Vinny Jones when he played for Wimbledon) for the title!
  5. It would have been quality if he got a bullseye with that throw. I'd have awarded the title to him straight away
  6. I think the trouble I sometimes have with Dunn is that he tries to play the same way he used to play when he was a top player for us however with injuries and how the game has changed, it just isn't as effective. He needs to adapt his game and become more technical not just with his football skills but mentally as well.
  7. Dunn's ability wasn't compared with Gerrard and Carragher because that would be stupid as they have pretty much done it all and although Dunn is a talented individual, he's not a world class player. The fact that they are local boys playing for their local clubs was the reason why I mentioned them in the same paragraph. It's important to have some kind of connection to the local community within the club whether it's players or behind the scene staff. Once a club loses it's link to the local community then that's the club on the road to it's death. Thankfully at Rovers we've got a couple of locals in the team, a great youth academy and the team is working with the community on a regular basis to maintain that link between us and them.
  8. The fact that he's a Blackburn born and bred fan who is playing for the club he loves means so much more than whether he's worth the money we paid for him. I know it's important to win matches and have a squad capable of challenging but sometimes football is not always about that. Personally seeing a fellow fan make the grade as a footballer playing for the team we both support is wonderful to see. Although i'll probably never know him, he still represents each and everyone of us and is living a dream we've all probably had at one point in our life. It's people like Dunny & Derbyshire who are the blood of the club. Similar to how Terry, Gerrard, Carragher, Cattermole are the blood of their clubs. £2m for Dunn. Money well spent.
  9. Joey Barton - A great role model for kids He needs to be locked up for his own good.
  10. It was either that or listen to the mother in law! I'm sure you would have all done the same
  11. Did anyone see the Inspector Gadget film yesterday. Probably one of the worst films i've ever seen!
  12. If that turns out to be the case then she needs to be given whatever sentence he would have got if he got proved guilty.
  13. Friends of ours said it was snowing on Corfu.
  14. If the whole team played well then Pedersen probably would have looked even better. He was one of our better players and I feel that he deserves to keep his place in the team. We missed Bentley a lot today. We had a lot of space on the right side of midfield but unfortunately Dunn and Emerton didn't quite link up as well as Emerton and Bentley do.
  15. I went to my mates for 5 minutes on the way home from work to have a quick look at Assassins Creed and ended up staying around there for quite a few hours. What a great game and the opening movie is truly brilliant, especially the close up of the eagle (i think). Can't wait for it to come out on the PC!
  16. IF England weren't so shocking during the last qualifiers then I'd probably say it was a great group to draw because they are all pretty much beatable. I also said that when the Euro 2008 qualifying draw was made...
  17. If he did, i'm sure he wouldn't have spent £6 million on Kenwyne Jones! Although saying that, Britain did own Trinidad and Tobago at some point in the islands histories so I guess technically you are right!
  18. Personally would like to see the return of the home nations tournament whether it's next year or something which is organised in a few years time. It will be great to see England v Scotland and personally i'd enjoy playing all the home nations especially as the games against N.Ireland and Wales in recent memory were very enjoyable and had great atmospheres at both games. When club teams have derby matches, form tends to go out the window and it's usually the team who has the greater belief who goes on and wins the game. Hopefully it would teach England what belief means and might install some into us!
  19. It takes a lot of balls for someone to take risks. All the big managers have done it but the trouble with McClaren is that they were risks taken at the wrong time. Thats the difference between a top class manager and him. When you get it wrong, it shows much more on the international scene because you don't get 50 games a season to make amends.
  20. The fact we had to rely on Andorra to save our chances sums up how awful we've been. Todays performance was totally disgraceful. I'm totally gutted after todays performance especially after the fightback. Why we sat deep after we leveled I will never know.
  21. I don't think someone like Shearer, who was a professional for 18 years & played in over 600 games in his career, needs to have managed anyone to get a top job because he's been there and done that as a player to gain that vital experience a younger coach probably wouldn't have had. He's been through title chases, relagation battles and world cups with various teams and has probably learnt from some of the best and the worst to add to his experience. Along with his experience, he is also one of the most famous players on the planet and would instantly command respect from the players, kind of like Hughes did when he first got into management. He wasn't bad for a first timer either was he ;-)
  22. Beckham on the left side of midfield?? or is that 1 Bentley up front and 2 goalkeepers?
  23. We beat Sheffield Wednesday 7-2 at Ewood, maybe thats why you're getting confuddled
  24. Israel and Macedonia winning was just brilliant but to see Scotland go out in the last minute just made it extra special...especially when my girlfriends family are Scottish Come on England!
  25. Looking good so far, long way to go though!
