  1. And of those - I think Brentford are the only ones to beat another side not in the bottom 8.
  2. Perfect opportunity to play Wahlstedt on Wednesday and as long as isn't at fault for 2 or 3 goals (Pears style) - stick with him in the league.
  3. I honestly thought this was a joke 😂 He should be fired for that email address alone.
  4. Where has this number come from? Based on the latest set of accounts available - 50% of our turnover is 8.3m. They have to have sold 166,000 shirts at £50 to reach that number. The only figure I can find online was that in November 2022 they were delighted to have sold a total of 35,000 shirts across their three kits. That would be £1.75m at £50 each.
  5. I like the way you felt the need to point out who Walton was 😂
  6. I saw a stat yesterday which said Leonard bad missed 5 big chances this season (highest in the division), which is quite impressive considering he's probably played less minutes than most.
  7. His weakness is his goalkeeping - as ridiculous as that sounds for a goalkeeper.
  8. 🎵 Whoaaaaaaaa, we're halfway there, whoooooaaaaaaaa, Wahlstedt over Pears 🎵
  9. We lost after being ahead 3 times in 55 games last season. Sunderland and Boro in the league - Sheffield United in the FA Cup. We seemed to lose few points from winning positions and win few points from losing positions last season. Sign of a brittle mentality.
  10. I remember the 07/08 Mark Hughes side - didn't know when it was beaten that team. Got 23 points in games where they'd fallen behind. Some real leaders in that team - particularly at the back.
  11. Took some of the early comments off the Sunderland forum: 5 minutes Blackburn look confident and quick Blackburn look class tbf. Best team we’ve faced this season look very decent these Can’t get close to them at the moment 6 minutes They look good. Playing quick and bypassing our midfield. Think Hedges is going to cause us problems These look good on the ball 7 minutes Blackburn playing really well so far tbf. We haven’t really got going at all. They’re the first side this season to dominate us with the ball like this in any game so far 10 minutes Jesus christ we should be 2-0 down or something here Fuck me. These are class Being taken apart here so far F**k me they’re all over us 11 minutes Why the fuck are Blackburn playing like prime Barcelona Keep this up and we will get beat 5-0 Just playing straight through us. 12 minutes How long to go. Could be 4-0 already comical this. they could have genuinely scored 3 or 4 already 13 minutes Should be 4-0 down How aren’t these 3 up? Should be 3-0 down Are these really Blackburn Rovers? Getting battered here. This is like Rocky versus Apollo Creed. They’re taking the piss. 14 minutes Like linford christie vs capt tom here 15 minutes Are we playing Man City?! They’re cutting us open everytime here mind. This is a huge test, best team we've played so far. I'll take 0 0 now. At the moment we're being completely outpassed. Looks like blackburn are on acid These look very good mind jesus i've never seen us get this battered for a while Is this Dalglishes PL winning team come back from the grave?
  12. Genuine question - is our style of play burning us out by half time? In the last 4 games we've had more expected goals in the 2nd half once - compared to the opposition having more expected goals in the second half in all 4 games.
  13. Rovers will start well - miss a couple of great chances - then Ipswich will score a goal out of nothing and go on to win 3-0. Hirst is nailed on to score as well just to rub it in. Pears will be questioned about his efforts for the second and third goals.
  14. Progressive passes – 2nd Passes into opposition penalty area – 1st Touches in opposition penalty area – 1st Non penalty expected goals – 3rd Non penalty expected goals per shot – 2nd Expected goals from counter attacks – 1st It's clear where the problem lies.
  15. I enjoy that game where you have to guess a player from his career path. I'd never have guessed this one in a million years. Years Team Apps (Gls) 2006–2009 Blackburn Rovers 0 (0) 2008 → Gretna (loan) 12 (0) 2008 → Accrington Stanley (loan) 13 (1) 2009 Adelaide United 2 (0) 2009–2010 North Queensland Fury 23 (3) 2010–2012 Central Coast Mariners 48 (4) 2012–2014 Guangzhou R&F 34 (1) 2014–2015 Perth Glory 35 (5) 2015–2016 Roda JC 18 (2) 2016–2017 Perth Glory 24 (3) 2017–2018 Pakhtakor Tashkent 16 (0) 2018–2022 Melbourne City 82 (4) 2022– Mumbai City 22 (1)
  16. I was just looking at the line-ups for Everton and Arsenal as Everton have some very obscure sounding players. Gone are the days of a top Premier League squad containing names like Tim, Tony, Jeff, Colin, Graeme, Stuart, Kevin, Alan, Mike, Jason, Nicky and Bobby. We had names like Vitaliy, Arnaut, Idrissa, Amadou, Abdoulaye, Nortberto, Youssef, Magalhaes, Oleksandr, Fabio, Jakub, Takehiro, Leandro and Filho on display at Goodison. Bring back the 90s 😂
  17. Maybe we should bring in Paul Ince for assistance on what to do when we get into the penalty area? https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EOAL1LXXUAEeA04.jpg
  18. I get it that we've got to make cost savings - but this is surely counter-productive. The alternative to making cost savings is increasing revenue. Making the tickets affordable and getting young fans/potential fans through the turnstiles is surely a better idea. It'd be like me looking to make cost savings at home and cutting my water off.
  19. We're at home and creating chances. We should play our own game and let them worry about us. I can understand changing things to deal with the opposition away from home...but not at Ewood.
  20. I get we're a town club and it's always going to be difficult to get big crowds (Birmingham doing poorly considering the size of the city) - but this paints a depressing picture. We're a similar sized town to Huddersfield/Preston - but they've obviously got their ticket pricing right.
  21. Completely agree with this. Szmodics would do a better job in the false 9 role than Dack did - but I'd still rather have him playing at 10 behind an out and out striker.
  22. It's probably worth noting that the Euro 96 team only had one player that played outside of the UK - Paul Ince. The English league wasn't the strongest in Europe at that stage - having not produced a Champions League/European Cup winners since 1984. We probably overstate how good some of those individuals in the 1996 squad actually were. 3 of the last 5 Champions League finals have now been won by an English club which to me suggests the Premier League is the strongest league in the world these days. Add the fact that the likes of Kane, Bellingham, Tomori, Trippier etc. are prepared to move abroad and gain continental experience stands us in very good stead. I think it was Graeme Souness last night who said England shouldn't even have to go defensive against the likes of France. We should play our own game and go at them.
  23. Southgate is my concern. If we don't win anything, the blame falls at his feet.
