  1. When we were kids we once went to watch PNE v Burnley with my dads work in hospitality. After the game I managed to persuade my brother to ask Gerry Harrison for his autograph - on a poster of Mark Rankine. My brother didn't think to check the difference in skin colour before he made the request - he was mortified.
  2. I guarantee you're the first person in history to mistake Dwight Yorke for David Dunn
  3. Four league cup games - Walsall, Harrogate, Cardiff, Chelsea.
  4. Only team news we need to be concerned with. Is Tronstad playing?
  5. Whilst I agree with what you're saying in principal - in relation to preferring an experienced keeper... To say you've never seen anything like that in the pro game in 60 plus years is a stretch. Check out some of the errors here.
  6. I'm not comparing Friedel to Wahlstedt at all - just pointing out most keepers don't peak until 30+. Pears is still very young at 25 as well. David De Gea was a flapping liability when he first joined United. Looked awful on crosses. Went on to be their player of the year four times. Has he been good so far? Not particularly. Does it mean he won't become a very good goalkeeper - absolutely not.
  7. Whilst he's looked a bit shaky so far - it's worth remembering he's only 24 which is young for a keeper. He's not been as good as I expected - but I'm not writing him off yet. It's worth noting where this guy was at in his career by the time he was 24 - backup at Brondby with no appearances - and had been playing college football before that. He was 29 by the time he joined Rovers and his career really took off.
  8. I keep seeing people worrying about Ched Evans. He's played less than 90 minutes of football in almost 8 months. Let them worry about us.
  9. It would be 2/1 for all 3 outcomes if it was an equal chance. £10 on a 2/1 returns £30. So if you put £10 on each outcome at 2/1 - you'd get your money back. If each outcome was 3/1 you'd have some very poor bookies and rich punters.
  10. Well, I'm already starting to think I was wrong about Hill. Looks a quality signing and the sort of leader we've been lacking. Even when all our centre backs are available - I'd have him in the team.
  11. We should attempt to confuse their keeper by having a shot every now and again.
  12. Him coming into the side last season coincided with them having a good run. They won 7 of the 14 he started. It was the second half of the season when he came into the team. They won 5 of the 28 he didn't.
  13. Not sure if you're joking? He was tremendous for them last season - one of their best players in their good run.
  14. 5-1 up inside 24 minutes. I remember thinking we were going to score 10 the way we were playing. Playing with proper wingers and two strikers.
  15. Spoke to a Burnley fan this morning who has been to their last three away games. He reckons they've been totally figured out and the players are scared of the ball now. Think Kompany just stands there looking clueless and doesn't know how to change things.
  16. Duff was obviously the better player of the two - but I used to love watching Gillespie when he was on it. Very few players get you on the edge of your seat these days like him on his day.
  17. I'd have to check the numbers but suspect it would be more than 200 times ours.
  18. Hodgson's win percentage up to Christmas Day in the 97/98 season was 54.5%. From then until he was sacked it dropped to 26.8%. The table at Christmas Day 1997:
  19. Completely agree. For instance - Hughes inherited a bit of a shambles. Parkes was generally coming in to take over a bad situation. I still find it interesting to see how the win percentages compare though.
  20. It's an Alan Partridge reference.
