QPR have DS'd worse than us over the past few weeks. Their momentum has stalled massively and I imagine they'll be out of the playoff spots very soon.
-
The players certainly made their point in the second half, regardless of what was or wasn't said at half time. I don't think we'll see anything as jaw-droppingly stupid as Johnson at false 9 again this season, but am still fully expecting Sam Gallagher to be wide right on Saturday.

It was certainly curious as Mowbray very, very rarely makes subs at HT, let alone two. A message was sent from one side to another at HT. Whether that was from manager to players or the other way around, it saved us from another disaster of a result in the end. We can only hope some lessons were learned because we have no room for error now - as it stands top six is not even in our own hands anymore, so picking up as many points as possible during the run in is absolutely essential to give us any chance of getting over the line.

Mowbray's post match interview is bizarre to say the least. Can't really blame the players if they did question the manager at half time, it's long overdue considering how 2022 has panned out and Johnson as false 9... I don't even know what to say to that. As loyal as the players have been to Mowbray you have to think there's a point where the more ambitious lads at least say enough is enough gaffer, you're making a pig's ear of this and you need to have a rethink. Mowbray doesn't like being questioned and is pretty thin skinned so it would explain his second half demeanor and post match interview if something like that did happen. A combination of indignation and embarrassment. Anyway, we move on to the next match. Hopefully this marks the end of the latest DS and we go on a solid run now. We'll need to considering how many points have been squandered lately. -

Great to finally get out of the horrible rut we've been in. Just have to hope the past three months or so haven't done too much damage. Our buffer is gone so it's about handling pressure now, which typically hasn't been our strong suit in the past. -
What's funny is I rewatched the Nitro where Hall debuted recently (27 May 1996) and that show absolutely sucked before Hall arrived. WCW in general was pretty poor until he and Nash turned up. The product changed rapidly after that, and eventually became something totally different. Hall and Nash really did start the transformation of American wrestling into the beast it became in the late 90s. Without the Outsiders' invasion WCW never becomes cool and Vince never has a reason to start the Attitude era. I know ECW was pushing boundaries at that time but they were far too niche to ever have a major impact on the likes of WWE. Hall's place in history alongside Nash and the nWo really can't be overstated.

Gutting. Scott Hall was a huge part of WCW when I first started watching wrestling. An incredible performer who had the entire package, just couldn't tame his demons until his career was over. In the conversation for straight up coolest wrester in history, and definitely one of the best to never hold a world title in WWE or WCW. With his issues during that time period you can understand why both companies never put the main strap on him, though.

The problem is people have been saying this for a while, especially about the three home games we're nearly done with. So far one point out of a possible six. Games are only winnable if we can score goals, and we simply can't. At some point we have to accept this isn't bad luck, we just have a team who are absolutely useless at scoring goals without BBD in the side. Dack coming back is a welcome boost but we can't expect great things from him considering the amount of time he's been out and the two serious injuries he's had to recover from. -

The fact we have nobody else capable of scoring from 12 yards with a free shot is frankly an absolute disgrace. Dack having to step up 10 or so minutes into his return to the first team is a pathetic reflection on the rest of the team. He duly missed with a terrible penalty because he simply wasn't ready. -
You gotta be confident in your technique to pull off those kinds of suplexes. The likes of the Steiners, Taz, etc all had incredible technique to go alongside their strength. Holland maybe needs to leave moves like that alone until he's sure he can pull them off without injuring a colleague. Thankfully it sounds like Big E is going to be alright.

Not scoring from open play in 810 minutes? Yeah that's a pretty fucking glaring sign of something being seriously wrong. -

The fact Dack was the one to take it says it all about the rest of the team on the pitch today, and the levels of trust management has in them. -

Remember when the three home games were when the season was getting back on track? Players were gonna "step up"? 🤣 -

Another 45 minutes, another zero on the scoreboard. Mowbray has somehow managed to field what must be one of if not the least potent attacking unit in the club's entire history. Bravo. -
I think Regal is one of those wrestlers you appreciate much more when you're older and smarter to the business. As a kid, in WCW I always saw him as the British fella who worked slow matches that looked a lot more real than the other bouts, whilst in WWE he was just the comedy commissioner. That was about it. It's only now, much later, that I recognise how talented and underrated he was. Yeah this was seemingly just Meltzer's poor grasp of the English language causing confusion again - thankfully. Although Regal's fatalistic promo certainly added fuel to the fire. I think Regal is in the same bracket as Scott Hall - an insanely talented and smart wrestler who was held back by his demons.

Travis signed a new contract

Fantastic news. Travis' grit and fire is something we don't have in many areas of the squad, so it's great that he's signed on long-term. -
According to the Observer Austin has not agreed to a match with Kevin Owens, and it will basically just be a fight/brawl type segment. Probably for the best. William Regal's debut interview from Dynamite is worth a watch: Apparently his comments about 'not being long for this world' were legit, the Observer says that his health is much worse than is generally known 😞 hopefully he's still got a decent amount of time left. I first watched Regal way back in 1996 when he was with the Blue Bloods. I was a kid at the time so I wasn't looking out for workrate or promo skills, but obviously as he was a Brit it made his appearances more memorable to me anyway. His brawls with Fit Finlay around that time period were ridiculous, just straight up beatings delivered by both men to each other. He really came into his own in the WWE in the 2000s though, playing the commissioner role to perfection on Raw and later NXT. Never afraid to adapt and make a fool out of himself to entertain people. I have every confidence that AEW will give him an awesome final run.
