  1. Panama's defending is shambolic. Absolute idiots.
  2. Keep it up boys. Let's hammer this lot and crank up the GD. Superb strike from Lingard.
  3. Fantastic penalty.
  4. OK. Allow me to rephrase. Good thing Panama aren't in England or Belgium's class. That was shocking defending by England.
  5. Exactly what we needed! Brilliant header. Could and should have had a penalty for Panama's grappling in the box anyway but judging by the way it's being officiated in this tournament I assume it's legal now.
  6. Good thing Panama are rubbish. That was shocking defending from England.
  7. I think the bigger countries will step up a bit in the knockout stages, it's almost like they've been happy to play in first gear during the groups knowing they have enough to get through. I expect we'll see a different Germany and Brazil especially in the knockout rounds. Not sure about France or Argentina, neither have shown they have much more than we've seen so far and Argentina in particular may not even get through. With all of that said I don't think we have anything to fear. Every team has weaknesses, it's just up to us to attack theirs and keep ours at a minimum. I'm hoping we can score today in the first half, if so I think it could end 3 or 4-0. If it gets to HT at 0-0 then I'll be a bit worried. I can't fathom Panama winning this one or even managing to score tbh. If they do then that's obviously a huge concern.
  8. I see the Serbian FA are lodging an official complaint with FIFA regarding their match with Switzerland. VAR is in many ways FIFA making a rod for their own back. Before VAR they could always use the excuse of "none of the officials saw it", but with VAR replaying every incident from multiple angles mistakes like Kane and Mitrovic's penalties not being given either come down to sheer incompetence or purposeful ignoring of the rules by the officials to benefit one side over another.
  9. I don't know if I'd call it luck. Sweden were giving Germany every possible chance to equalise. They were giving away silly, dangerous fouls, constantly losing possession, screwing up counter attacks... it was like watching a team of amateurs try to play professionally. They couldn't even do simple things like run a ball into the corner and run down the clock. I was a bit embarrassed for them. They somehow got even worse when Germany went down to ten. If England had given that second half performance they would be crucified, and rightly so.
  10. Shameful second half performance from Sweden. They just didn't deserve a point out of this.
  11. Wow. As it stands Germany are going out!
  12. Tbf this is the same system that decided Kane being speared to the ground and Mitrovic being tag team slammed into the floor weren't penalties, so this was pretty tame in comparison.
  13. Another blatant foul missed by VAR. I like the idea of the system but these inconsistencies will kill it.
  14. Great match, one of the best of the tournament so far. The Swiss had a poor first half but took control in the second half and deserved to win in the end.
  15. Incredible strike from Xhaka. Been a good game this.
  16. Argentina will be happy with this, but they'll have to improve to beat Nigeria and get through. Croatia will be resting players for their final group game too, so Iceland could get a result there. Will be a very interesting finale for this group.
  17. The 0-0 Vs Algeria was one of the most soul-crushing ninety minutes in recent memory. Capped off by Rooney having a pop at the fans at the end.
  18. Not to mention his inability to pick a proper formation. Apparently the 3-4-3 (ended up being more like a 3-5-2) they used last night was the same formation that they used when Spain beat them 6-1 in March. Although Sampaoli has used it successfully in the past with Chile, it's a system the Argentina players aren't comfortable or particularly familiar with. Messi apparently doesn't like that formation as he doesn't think it affords him enough space. It's easy to forget that Argentina had some top players out there, though. Sergio Aguero is supposed to be one of the best forwards in the world and I've barely seen his name mentioned.
  19. England, Algeria, USA, Slovenia must be up there. And we barely made it out of that.
  20. Wouldn't fancy them against Nigeria after this tbh. They look broken.
  21. You'd expect no less from them. They're an embarrassment. So bad that even Messi looks average playing in that team.
  22. Wow. I do not want to come up against Croatia.
  23. This has to be up there with some of the worst Argentina sides of all time? Ironic that it comes during a period when they have one of if not the best player in the world at their disposal.
  24. Is he really the best they have in goal? Deary me. What a plonker.
  25. I meant for all groups tbf, but at the very least this one has been quite entertaining. Croatia would be happy with a draw I think. Argentina would obviously much prefer a win, although even if they draw they should still qualify.
