  1. Feels like it's really starting to click with JDT now. More of the same next half please!
  2. "We were talking before the game about watching All or Nothing and Arsenal two years into Mikel's [Arteta] reign, he is close to getting the sack, people are wanting him out and it is a disaster," Potter added. "Obviously now things have changed a little bit, but that is just the way it is. You look at Jurgen's [Klopp] situation. He hasn't got the results and all of a sudden people want him out. That is just the nature of football." I find these comments from Potter a little disingenuous. Arteta won an FA Cup in his first six months as Arsenal manager and they've never finished lower than 8th with Arteta in charge. Chelsea meanwhile got knocked out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round when City smashed them 4-0 and are on course to finish a lot lower than 8th based on current form. Can't imagine Arteta had hundreds of millions to spend on players either. In regards to Klopp, do "people" want him out? Most Liverpool fans I've spoken to think he has enough credit in the bank to deserve time in the summer to put it right. Again, disingenuous to compare these scenarios as Klopp has more credit in the bank at Liverpool than Potter is ever likely to have at Chelsea. I find the Arteta comparisons a bit lazy when used in defence of Potter, personally. I don't think the situations are especially comparable. Definitely not comparable as far as Klopp is concerned.
  3. Doesn't necessarily account for the multiple other miserable post-January runs Mowbray embarked on with us and other teams. Think it's something systemic in how he prepares and motivates his teams. The pattern is too consistent for it to be coincidence.
  4. Tbf as far as Burnley being better you could say that for practically every team in the division. They've made this league look like a bit of a joke. Only two losses and 19 points clear of 3rd already, lol. I'd say it puts the other relegated clubs with parachute payments to shame more than us.
  5. Quite rightly too. JDT is working some crazy black magic.
  6. I can remember on FM18 Nyambe having very good physical stats, but quite poor technical stats, and I'd say that's about right. Lad is a great athlete when fit and didn't often lose physical battles, but he also contributed zilch in terms of goals, assists or anything useful from a creative standpoint. He has a skillset which would work in the right system, but I don't think it would suit what JDT is trying to do.
  7. I'll leave it because I think you made a fair point without resorting to personal attacks.
  8. If the baiting continues people will be taking a break. Fair warning.
  9. Somebody literally posted "that'll shut up the haters" when Gallagher scored, lol. Typically hater implies unfair stick.
  10. Don't really follow this logic that a player has one good game in a dozen and suddenly everyone else was wrong about them. It can entirely true that a player has been rubbish but happened to play well in a given game.
  11. Fantastic win. Well done JDT and the team.
  12. Otherwise known as having his usual game.
  13. At least he was in the right position. Small things.
  14. All bets are off and the form table can be thrown out the window when it comes to the playoffs. Ridiculous really that we haven't even managed to get into them once since the 2012 relegation, despite having multiple seasons with goalscorers in the 20+ range. Even worse when you consider during that time the likes of Hull, Cardiff, Burnley, QPR, Wigan, Ipswich, Reading, Huddersfield, Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Luton have all finished top six - a lot of them more than once. Just a further indictment of Venky's utterly inept ownership.
  15. I genuinely think I was being too harsh. Lad has been good since he came back so it wasn't the right thing to say. Sometimes you type something quickly post-match and it doesn't come out how you intend, so it's my mistake. I'd agree on JDT's man management, he's taken some stick at times for it, but it's gotten results more than once this season so far.
  16. Will note that it was probably too harsh of me to say Travis was "still struggling", more like he was solid but I think there's much more to come from him. Just an incorrect post-match comment on my part.
  17. Two issues there - a poor player but clearly also very low on confidence, having not scored or really contributed in any noticable way in a very long time now. With a bit of confidence Gally can put himself about somewhat and scab the odd goal here and there... without confidence, though, he really does offer absolutely nothing. We really have to hope something bounces off any part of his body and into the net at some point, just to give him that slight boost he desperately needs.
  18. What I like about Dolan is that he's actually got a bit of the dark arts in him, too. Enjoyed watching him wind up a number of Norwich players when we beat them at Carrow Road a couple of months back. Earned a few free kicks from their frustration towards him. You don't want every player behaving that way, but you need one or two that know how to do it.
  19. Leapfrogged Sunderland in the table tonight, lovely to see I'm sure you'll agree 👍 also confident that their current manager means they won't be a threat to our top six hopes, based on what we saw in previous seasons here, which I'd say is relevent. I would imagine for the majority of Rovers' fans it's a great feeling not to be dreading the inevitable February slide down the table. Long may that continue.
  20. Feels like he's getting back to his best in terms of his off the ball work, which is really good to see after a difficult few months for the lad. If he can get his confidence back on the ball as well he'll be crucial to our run-in, especially with Buckley and Morton being completely ineffectual at the moment. Win our appeal and a midfield duo of O'Brien and Travis could be very solid as a unit, although I appreciate that winning the appeal is highly unlikely. Just pointing out a fact Gav, about a manager who's done nothing but belittle our club since he left. Can't see why that would be a problem... just glad that statue wasn't built...
  21. Had forgotten Sharpe is the authority on performance, thanks for the reminder in large text, presumably because you assume I can't see very well based on my assessment of Travis. Appreciated. I'm one of Trav's biggest (and in past months pretty much only) supporters on here, so don't worry, not a case of scapegoating. I just felt he could have done better going forward, and Trav of past seasons would have driven us to another goal. As it stands he did okay but I still think he has plenty more to offer.
  22. Certainly one nice change from the Mowbray years. We'd be neck deep in a death spiral right now if he was still around.
  23. Pretty comfortable in the end. Very few goals in this team, and in Gallagher & Vale we have two of the worst forwards in the division, so we'll need to rely on scraping the odd goal here and there whilst keeping clean sheets. Got to take the three points and be happy considering we barely have a functioning midfield at times. Buckley well below expectations as usual, Travis still struggling, Morton a waste of time. On the plus side, Brittain looked good. as did JRC. Solid defensively although there wasn't too much to worry about. Thomas gets an assist which is nice. Dolan adding another goal to his tally shows he can be relied upon to chip in, whilst Szmodics was busy and works hard, even if he's not hugely influential. Bypassing Sunderland and old Tone is satisfying as well 🙂
  24. Proper Mandela Effect moment for me, as I swear I'd already read about him being sacked at least a week ago.
  25. Glad they got their first win since October (I think?) today, as otherwise we all know it would have been us gifting them the result on Tuesday.
