That’s a fair article and as close to the truth of yesterday’s performance and overall goings on at ewood as you can write . I do worry that Pickerings lack of attacking ability is going to give us the same problems left side Ryan gave us on the right. Until he gets both full back positions sorted , and by sorted I mean with adequate cover, then I struggle to see how his system is going to work. The worrying thing for me is I don’t see another way of playing with the young, relatively weak personnel we have at our disposal so the only option I see is to stick with the system , help the players grow and learn and absolutely get the next two transfer windows bang on. Adequate cover for the wing backs, a tough cm, a bowler/dembele type and an out and out Adam Armstrong goalscorer. It’s no good bringing through all these good young footballers if they aren’t supported with some men around them. There is simply two many young , slight, boys on the pitch playing in a man’s league and JDT needs to get the balance and blend right That’s why I said I will give him a seasons grace because there is so much potential but so many problems that need working on or completely fixing. Ultimately getting the right personnel and system to come together is what we are all hoping JDT will do and I think it will be pretty clear within 12 months if he is the right man for the job or not but for now he has my faith and I look forward to seeing it all come together but make no mistake this is going to be a tough, long season which requires patience.

I still think left back is one of the weaker areas that needs upgrading but Pickering played well at Blackpool and was no where near our worst player yesterday. Sometimes it seems like once people have made there mind up it can’t be unchanged

The problem we have is if we don’t play out from the back we will lose the ball anyway because we do t have anyone big and strong to win it. Gallagher and brereton are our only hopes and compared to most cb on this league we won’t win much. We need some proper men in the team
