I suppose so. I never thought it would make much of a difference really as I'd always assumed these lot drank from the same watering hole. You'd have to imagine that if we were in for a player today, and no media outlet knew about it, that a large circle of the football bods would. Agent talks to club - knows another club is interested so alerts them - they alert another agent of another player they are after that someone else is available and so goes the merry go round.
 -
I see what you are getting at. I thought you meant it may hinder our chances of signing a player as it attracts rivals. You'd have to imagine a football club talks to 30-40 players (or at least their agents/clubs) a window to determine availability before making their move. We'd be bitterly disappointed if we heard about every enquiry we'd have made this summer. My gripe is probably more due to the fact that the media has to have something to write up. We are served up a fresh number wanted or fresh set of positions we are looking to fill on a weekly basis and it almost always has turned out to be a load of shite.

The football world is a small world and if club x are in for a player than it won't take long for club y to find out, particularly if they have an interest in said player. I'm with JHRover on this. I'd be happy with this transfer window if we didn't keep getting told a figure of players we want in and when by and constantly let down. Bored of hearing we are "in for 4", "have talks with 3", "want so and so over the line by..", "looking for a centre back, forward, winger", "wants a striker, centre mid, goalkeeper" etc etc etc.

Burnley is in Yorkshire. -
Sometimes I think you just agree on things based on what you believe is going to happen. At one point you were saying Armstrong is the striker we need. No other option needed. Now we have him you'd honestly prefer it if we spent circa £8m on another striker when you could have Maddison out wide? I know which one I'd prefer. 20+ goals spanning across 3 seasons + double figures assists for 2.5m or a 19 year old lad who has all the potential in the world but hasn't scored 10 goals yet for £8m. Sorry and within that question you'd rather have Brereton than a defender like Baeur + Maddison despite championing the need for Beaur all summer. My God It's a no brainer.
 -
Brereton's goal scoring record for England youth is far better than his for Nottingham. Some players are better around better players. I'd like him. I wouldn't like spending £5m+ on him though. Unless, of course, parts of that fee are for achievement, ie goals scored, promotion etc etc

Williams wasn't good enough for the majority of last season. Some will claim he never had any "glaring errors" a la Mulgrew at Fleetwood but the fact of the matter is wingers get a run on him all too often. If he is a centre back then we should sign a proper left back and relegate him to backing up Mulgrew & Lenihan. The match was a poor one really. I'm quite happy to know there's Davenport + Armstrong to add to that squad otherwise you're scratching your head where more creativity comes from once Dack is withdrawn. Our subs were poor. It's worrying that, unless more business is done in the next week, we'd be down to Nuttall/Samuel as back up up front and, should Palmer & Bennett get injured we'd be left with Samuel as a winger too. He isn't comfortable there, clearly. I only hope he improves in that position as the season goes on. I will take the point. Win the games at home, ensure you take at least a point on the road and you're in for a successful season. Does feel like 2 points dropped though. A sickening goal to concede! -

WHat was alarming was the differences ipswichs subs made in comparison to ours. Further highlights our lack of depth. We looked a far worse side after changes made. -
Armstrong is a good signing, no doubt about it. He made runs that allowed Dack and Graham to play their way. It was a great trio at the back end of last season. I hope he didn't take our budget as I think Armstrong is a more off the striker type player than someone leading the line. Nontheless happy he's ours. Good player, young Northern lad and the potential for big money if he scores a bit
 -
Makes you wonder whether Mowbray was playing the game a bit I'll celebrate when he signs on the dotted line and it's announced. Until then nothing is certain in this game
 -
It was tongue in cheek but I didn't expect you to get that with your Must-Defend-BRFC v.15 power shield on.
 -
Mine came a long time ago so I'm not overly fussed. I can understand the frustration of not being delivered something that you have paid for though. Kind of like Armstrong. If we have spent this £3m like it's claimed...why isn't he a Rovers player yet ??
 -
Villa bidding 10m plus 10m add ons for Yerry Mina makes a mockery of them being skint. FFP is a lie
 -
Thought he was was the d list...
 -
Because Samuel shown in his handful of appearances out wide in League 1 that he wasn't comfortable there.
 -
Said the same at the beginning of this transfer window JH. 7/8 is the minimum really to become a truly competitive Championship team.
 -
Will Hughes won the FL Young player of the year in 2014. Keep looking. Lookman won the Championship young player of the year award in his year, also known as apprentice award, but for players 18 or under - still player of the year though. Keep looking through wiki BDS. You'll find all you need soon pal.
 -
Hughes won it in 2014. Palmer wasn't within the three I mentioned. Keep up BDS. Zaha and Lookman the other 2. Although he did have an exceptional season - helping to guide Huddersfield to promotion
 -
You don't think they had exceptional seasons? All three got young player of the year/player of the year in their respected seasons....do you even know what you are talking about?
 -
The lads I named were all teenagers. Another one was Wilfired Zaha. Lookman was great at Charlton. Will Hughes at Derby. As I said, the list is endless of teenagers that have had success at this level.
 -
Tammy Abraham. Kasey Palmer Lewis Cook In fact, the list is endless at how many young lads have had exceptional seasons in the Championship..............lol
 -
No sidestepping. Bennett and Palmer are more experienced in this league. But that's 2 men for 2 positions. If one of them gets injured that leaves Samuel - Woodburn is 100% better and more experienced at a higher level. Palmer is an excellent player, no doubt. He's a great signing. He's also better than anything we have here permanently. If you believe Palmer and Bennett alone are good enough for this division and we wouldn't be better off by bringing in players like Woodburn out on them wings then you're either delusional or lying. Besides, is Bennett even an out and out winger anymore? I preferred him in centre midfield personally.
 -
If Dominic Samuel was as good Ben Woodburn he'd be playing for his country at every level since he was 15 and be coveted by great managers such as Klopp. Take the Rovers goggles off please. Irrelevant anyway as he's off to Sheff Utd. Good luck to the lad. As a side note, Samuel has only played roughly 20 games in this division spread over 6 years. Let's not bark about experience and then start using him as an example.
 -
He's a better option than we have now. Rated highly by one of the best coaches in the world. Has half a dozen international appearances + a dozen PL appearances to his name combined with a few cup appearances here and there. More experience at a higher level than Rothwell. Definitely would have been an excellent option on the left. He's also Liverpool's youngest every goalscorer and Wales' second youngest goalscorer - only Bale beats him. I'd take him here any day of the week.
 -
Ben Woodburn is closing in on a Sheffield United loan deal. Would have been an excellent option for us in the attacking third. Plays left wing or up front - just what we need. Have to assume Mowbray doesn't fancy him as much as Klopp or we'd have surely gone in for him.
