  1. Can’t believe Milinkovic Savic went! What a disappointing decision. He’s in his peak Though, playing for Serbia means he’s guaranteed his spot. I think that’s how the European leagues will keep their power; limit international appearances for players who go and join a weak league and that should stop the players with ambition going I think that’s why Mbappe chose not to go
  2. Neymar is off to Saudi, in the latest global "superstar" to take a big payout Rumour is £2.5m a week over 2 years, of which he can have 50% up front if he goes The game is ruined
  3. You can see why Bobby Madeley is no longer a premier league ref That man is bloody awful. He lost total control of the game for a little while. Not seen that in professional football for a long while Overall we just weren’t good enough. First half it was slow and just no end quality. Turned it around in the second and honestly thought we’d go on to win Nevertheless, it’s a point gained from a losing position. Something that took us so long to do last year. These things will happen in the Championship and in a notoriously difficult place for us to go we walk away with a point Win at home, minimum draw away and you are in good stead
  4. From the goals conceded you can see why we went straight for another keeper Never seen Hilton play before. But his positioning was awful for the first and his effort to get down for the second was bad Think that could be the last we will see of him
  5. It was a good performance all round. I did fear the worse coming into it but in JDT you have a coach that can get the most out of any squad Pickering is the weak spot in that back line and he will be targeted. He tried to move in to midfield a lot today, and a couple of times the break came from that left side and we were nearly caught out. It’s not a priority spot but we need better. Overall he had a decent game but he could have cost us a goal Leonard getting into the right positions is a positive. The first miss was a sitter. The second was unfortunate - weaker foot and snatching at it. Confident he can carry on the good form for the season to be honest. He didn’t look out of place and worried some experienced defenders Tronstad had a shaky game and we looked a lot better when Wharton came on. Fuck me we need to keep hold of him. A serious player. How Phillips has gone and we have held on to him is anyone’s guess!! At times he looked careless but that calm nature of his is also his biggest strength. With experience he will cut those bad passes out Great start to the season. A lot of nerves have been settled today
  6. A big, big season for young Harry Leonard begins against a foe as old as the football league itself Founding fathers of league association football and both suffering the same ills of distant, careless owners On Saturday 22nd September 1888 the Baggies played the Rovers and it finished 6-2 to us. More of the same please with Harry bagging a sneaky brace to really kick the debate of "desperate for a striker or not?" off
  7. I have to admit I doubted Crawley going into the series as well He looked a walking wicket. Seems that spot was taken by Labuschagne this series! Crawley impressed. He looked assured and more patient. He looks spectacular when driving on the up, but unfortunately that will be his downfall more often than not. Like when Root got out with the drag-on when trying to play a really late cut - you have to accept them wickets because playing the shots they do scores them a lot of runs Whilst Crawley continues to average nearly 50 he earns the right to play how he wants
  8. Joe Root must be wondering what he has to do in here!!
  9. I was speaking to an old school friend and Baggies fan on Saturday Has a similar tale of woe to us. Talk of losing their exciting goalkeeper to Luton for cheap. I laughed at him at the time, saying it had probably saved us from losing Kaminski. I spoke too soon. But they have lost O'Shea to Burnley for cheap too. No real money to get in players that they desperately need. He doesn't fancy their chances this year The Baggies fans were pretty gobsmacked to hear of the players we have lost without replacing. I think I left them in a better place mentally. They were expecting a seriously tough game. Overall though, I think we edge this game. Home advantage will kick in Rovers 2-1
  10. I don’t think we will do too badly I’m still calm over the transfer situation. Don’t really know what to believe, though I do expect a couple more signings Personally think we will finish roundabouts where we did this season. Top half at a minimum, challenging play offs at times Feels like a missed opportunity. We may come to rue it in a years or so time. Yet I reckon we are only a good striker away from a decent side and so I hold out some hope
  11. You'd get the best out of Woakes using him solely at home. You'd also extend his career by a year or two It's good for nobody to be slogging out on poor wickets in India I don't think Jimmy will go there either, unless it is as some team role. Time to give some of the younger lads a chance Use Jimmy and Woakes in our Summer '24. Let Jimmy get his record, let Woakes carry on destroying teams on English pitches
  12. Let’s not fall out chaps Overall it has been a brilliant series. One for the memory bank, for sure The final Broad spell was just sensational. The way he manipulates the ball is a real rare talent. I think it makes sense for him to retire - he’s reached the milestones he can realistically achieve and to leave on such an incredible series for him is the perfect ending to a brilliant career. I will miss his antics. You get the feeling if Anderson had broke the 700 wicket mark he would have retired as well. Maybe he needs one more summer, and you’d bet his house he will get them against Windies or Sri Lanka next year We need to look to the future now. I thought Tongue was very good in his one game. Woakes will be our leading swing baller for the next 4 years imo. He bowled as well as he has ever done and is as fit as a fiddle We look forward to the ODI World Cup now
  13. I wouldn't be so brave to assume anything like that in this series As the last 30 minutes has shown us Fantastic cricket
  14. Rehan Ahmed is the future of English spin bowling I'd say James Rew is the future of our batting
  15. Well, you can tell it is raining Go brew up Mellor, it will do you better than fishing for reactions
  16. The Aussies have been pinned down. Showing the opposite: that too much defence in cricket can hurt you The issue now is Smith. He can really press on with Starc and Cummins left to come in Labuschagne had a stinking innings. One of the worst I have watched England on top again. Need to keep our foot on their necks here
  17. It was always the bowlers day Feel as though we have given some cheap wickets away. We have also gotten away with a few Wood & Woakes are dragging us out of it again. I'd agree with you ojf, 300 runs is a good score on this wicket
  18. No. But you can buy home and away shirts for those clubs. You can't at Rovers In fact, a lot of clubs now take this time to sell excess stock from last season. Meaning you could pick up a kit for about £25. A lot of lads who play 5 a side pick these up because they are decent cheap tops to play in Rovers don't have any in surplus because we ran out in October last year(?)
  19. The commercial operation at Rovers stinks. How can we be constantly out of shirts? I haven't bought one since the totally wicked logo. It looks shite. But it seems to be persistent. At no other club does this happen My younger brother is Villa obsessed and their shop is brilliant. It has all sorts. Ours in comparison is just dead...and it never used to be like that This club really does deserve better. Improving this side of things is not related to financial fair play. And, if done right, actually does pay for itself you know...............
  20. A lot of the "greats" in any sports - team or individual - have done it through pioneering a new style I don't really think "Bazball" is as out there as a lot are making out. It is just playing on the attack, which in cricket creates a spectacle. At Old Trafford we did not attack 24/7. There was some great cricket played, and then at times when the foot went on it stayed on I really think the big 'mistake' was the declaration in Birmingham. Yet, had our bowlers got either Khawaja or Warner in those few overs, it may have swung entirely the other way and we'd be calling it attacking and decisive captaining Obviously talk of sacking Stokes and McCullum is a bit over the top. We have broken record after record since they have been in charge. Think we now have the 3 fastest to 500 runs, all under Stokes' captaining
  21. It is the condition the cork ball gets in. The leather saturates and then the ball is just unplayable for the bowler In reality we need to be able to prepare the pitches quicker. The only way that will happen is either a major breakthrough in irrigation / drainage technology or all test approved cricket grounds installing roller roofs Although I do think the time taken to prepare the pitch is a joke. I wonder if it was always like that? Surely in the days of the 60s - 80s it still didn't take them 1+hrs to prepare the pitch after a bit of rain I think a 6th reserve day - which they have in the world test final - is the best route personally. Say you miss 70+ overs then it rolls in to the 6th day. £10 on for the fans if you attended Day 1 - 5 and then £30 thereafter or something.
