  1. Lewis Dunk isn't the best on the ball is he!! I would bring Ben White back in when Southgate goes. Trippier hasn't gone long left and Kyle Walker is 33 so probably both of their last tournaments. White can play right back very well.
  2. You'd imagine that Brainthwaite and Trafford are sure fire to not go. I don't think he will take Jarrod Bowen either. One of Quansah, Guehi or Dunk will go. Up top I'd say Ivan Toney will be dropped. Unfortunately, I think the last one to go will be Wharton I think it is surprising he has named Guehi and Dunk over Tomori. He does not rate him whatsoever or can't be arsed to go to Italy
  3. Maguire has been anything but a calamity for England
  4. How can the budget require a further 25% cut? It doesn't make any sense. Everything else is going up except what we spend. There is something really amiss at Rovers.
  5. Wharton, Eze and Brainthwaite in Henderson left out There is a real touch of class about Wharton. What a crying shame we will never see the best of him. Here's hoping his career lasts longer than the Venkys do here and we get to see him in our colours again. If he makes the full Euros squad it is going to be a real joy watching one of our own in an England shirt
  6. I honestly didn’t think it was a matter for debate that Mowbray left this club better than he found it It was time to go, for sure. He showed his limitations and you felt we had reached that glass ceiling. But he did well for Rovers and I’ll always remember him fondly
  7. I never said he would
  8. Okay but you’ve just beaten it with this Tony Mowbray did a brilliant job as Rovers manager. We were very close to capitalising on that by bringing in a better more ambitious younger coach. I don’t think it can be denied that Mowbray set the foundations for that season under JDT Anyway, football is obviously a game of opinions. You are allowed yours I suppose
  9. None of that speaks for the experience they brought to the team Ayala was a very experienced head. Twice the player McFadzean is. We lost that influence in the dressing room and never replaced him Same with Dack. It was clear he was a big player in the dressing room and is sorely missed Within a quick space of time we went from having a nice balanced team with youth and experience in equal measure, to a team sorely lacking in leadership. Nevertheless, JDT made that team purr at times. Mowbray left this club in a good state. Within two years that lot let it go to waste whilst also driving out the best manager we’ve had in an awful long time
  10. The team that JDT inherited came from Tony Mowbray. We had the experience of Kaminski, Dack and Ayala to all call on. Carter had come on leaps and bounds under Mowbray and JDT really felt the benefit of that Plus Brereton, who Mowbray stuck with and nurtured despite all of the criticism he was getting It's in no doubt that Mowbray left this club in a much better state than when he found it. When JDT came it was like a breath of fresh air, but the foundations on which that season was built on were laid by Mowbray. That is all gone now. We lost what we had and never replaced them properly. The level of experience we have managed to lose since those days is frightening
  11. There are a lot of ready-made excuses for Broughton. Yet, it all boils down to one thing for me - the team is in a worse place than when he found it. Everything that Tony Mowbray had achieved has gone to wreck and ruin. The only positive is that in doing so it has generated a lot of income for Rovers. It isn't Broughton's fault that he wasn't allowed to spend it The Lewis O'Brien fiasco probably cost the man his career as a Director of Football. I don't believe for one instance that was his fault. I really do believe he had conspiring forces against him. None more so than Steve Waggott. The behaviour towards the end of JDT and Broughton was quite spectacular - pulling the fans in to meet the players. It really was a show of force from Waggott. For me, it was the end of a promising spell for the club The players he has brought in has been a real mixed bag. Some of the better players include Tronstad, Szmodics, Hyam. He brought in some astute loans in Morton and James Hill. Then the flip sides: Mola and Koumetio spring to mind. I don't judge Broughton quite as badly as others for Hirst, as he has gone on to show he can cut in the league. I liked how he acted quickly to move Ennis on. It was probably a gamble worth taking. He never cut the mustard and GB recognised that early on. We never replaced him though and that for me was a mistake. As I started this post with - before I rambled - Broughton's tenure here has been a real mixed bag but for me will be judged on how he has left us. We have "cash to burn", or so you should think owing the revenue he brought in on player trading, but the squad itself is now down to the bare bones. We have lost all the experience and nous that Mowbray's Rovers squad had. To underline all of that, it is clear Broughton never truly understood how things work at Rovers. Mowbray did. He knew that if you sold a player, you were unlikely to get the money back to reinvest. He never lived by "the model". Broughton tried to. His biggest mistake was ever believing that the Venkys were sincere in their approach and that cost him his job
  12. It is probably the first time you are right on this one To be honest, a lot of this will depend on how friendly they are with Modi’s government. If they are allies with him and more important his henchman Shah then they will probably ride it out If they have any enemies inside the BJP then expect them to be punished. Although, them being Hindu already helps them in that regard I really do hope the August case goes against them. It is probably our best chance to get rid of them. The BJP don’t play by the normal rules, and neither do Venkys, so here’s hoping there’s a silver lining for the town of Blackburn in all of the crap going on over there
  13. I would have to see the deal before passing judgement on Fleck In a normal club, you’d expect a pay as you play type arrangement, with him coaching as a “day job” We will wait and see. His injuries are a real worry. But he was some midfielder in his day and lads like Garrett and Buckley could do a lot worse than watch and learn from him in training
  14. I think it’s crap A childhood memory is being woken up at silly o’clock to see Mayweather v Hatton. None of this crazy production beforehand from what I can remember. Nothing wrong with Michael Buffer stood in the middle calling out the boxers. They are out America-ing the Americans here……
  15. Tell me about it Came back up to Blackburn to watch this with my old man. After a day in the sun he couldn’t be arsed to stay out. Now the old git has gone to bed….could have stayed at home and saved him £25 At least I got to see a good days cricket down Cherry Tree 🍺
  16. Do you think the sucker punch helped Silas? 👀👀
  17. Yeah seeing that on social media myself. I always thought Cordina’s trainer was Joe Gallagher. Can’t say I follow boxing as much as I used to. One of the most corrupt sports in the world for a reason….. 😂
  18. Cordina got found out tonight. No clue why he stayed on the inside. It will be interesting to see if he had an injury - didn’t use his jab much at all and legs looked like he had gone
  19. Behave yourself. Parsonblue can speak for himself, but it is clear he has been supporting this club for many a year through thick and thin. He’s been posting on this site for years and is contributions have been excellent To be fairly honest you are quite a terrible poster. I am not against a swear word, but your posts are both ladened with expletives and clearly lacking the awareness that not everybody will agree with you. Wind your neck in and understand that we are all supporters of Rovers here
  20. Really bloody annoying how frequently we make mistakes in our club correspondence Have we ever had a player called Jay Haddock? Steve Wagott oversees such as an amateur operation. Have some respect. He does not deserve his wage
  21. It is still Rangers and the Rangers of old Anything else is just hand wringing nonsense for me. It is not the clubs fault their owners fell foul of the law. The fans are forever entitled to celebrate the history of Rangers and continue in the tradition of Rangers
  22. Yes. All footballers go for money. We all do. Go on any construction site and everybody is bragging about being on a quid more than the next man. It is no different for footballers If a team had come in for Szmodics in January and offered him £10k a week more, he'd have been gone
  23. I think Southgate will take Henderson and some will be sorely disappointed. I don't think he has actually played much for Ajax but still, he's a leader of that England team and obviously someone Southgate trusts Had I been manager, I would have perhaps asked him if he'd come along in the non-playing staff, if only to offer support to Wharton and Mainoo who I would be taking, with a view to playing Wharton alongside Rice and Bellingham. Call it bias if you will, but Wharton has not looked out of place in any of the games I have watched, especially against Chelsea and Liverpool We have some crap kick off times this year. 8pm on a Sunday night for the first game is not what the doctor ordered
  24. You can't blame McGuire. That happens in every walk of life. You mess somebody around, the next time they deal with you there is a premium expected or else they won't bother Good luck to him. He's obviously a talented player but unfortunately I doubt we will see him in Rovers' colours. Given he is American and young, I only hope he doesn't conflate that lot at board level with Rovers. They are a blight on our club at the moment and not a representation
  25. Yeah the "Old Firm" are great games to watch whilst nursing that Sunday morning hangover but that's about it, really I will always be more on the side of Rangers for obvious reasons, but the result won't make me lose any sleep for sure
