[Archived] Hughes Demands Video Technology
USABlue replied to Mr. E's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I am not in favour of replay technology at the match. What I am in favour of, and I think we need it big time, is video technology to punish these cheaters and floppers. Use the video and have a panel to reveiw incidents from games and start dishing out some HEFTY suspensions. I think with this in place a lot of these "difficult" decisions will go away, quite frankly a lot of them are being generated by unsportsmanlike play from flopping players. Stomp that out first and then see where we sit. -

Look at the Penalty given against OOyah the other week and Mido's "handball" and tell me if you were a ref which would YOU give as a penalty. This is the inconsistancy in the game. People throw their arms up at the "conspiracy theory" but there is something perhaps it's not intentional but something happens to these refs when we get 'em. For some reason they decide it is OK for every 50-50 decision should be given against us. Another good example, Bert and Mido wrestling a bit for the ball Bert starts to win Mido knows it so flops to the ground (he's way bigger and stronger) but Bert had positoin and won the right. What happens free kick Spurs. They score from the free kick, which thankully was disallowed but it is the smaller things like this that happen week in and week out that ticks me off. Ref's are going to miss decisions but when there is a pattern in a game one has to question why. It's almost like the ref's are thinking no one cares if I make a few decisions against lil ol Blackburn but if I upset one of the big dogs I'll get berated in the media. Because he plays for us. If he played for any one of the three Red shirted or Blue shirted "big four" they'd be drooling week in and week out, just like they do now. -

You are kidding right, no theatrics bull pucky. Having watched the two incidents again the Spurs fella made a meal of it and I am still not conviced there was ACTUAL contact, one angle seems to suggest there was not, almost looking like he went ove on his toe as he tried to INITIATE contact with toogs. But if we are not sure with replay after replay then what's a Ref to do. The bloke made a meal of it if it is your opinion he did not then fair enough but I feel he did. As for the handball I am not convined he did handball it. Bottom line here, to me anyway, is he should not have even been there anyway. The two footed lunge he made just prior to that should have seen him gone. I find an intersting pattern with these disputed calls, the same people take the stance that whatever went against Rovers is the right thing, in many cases. Can these people be the only ones that are right. -
Yes Lee I shot them an e-mail before I mentioned it in here. Have not heard anything yet.
-
Oh good, not good he's ill, good it's the reason he was not there.

It COULD have changed the game. Peter done him and was off to the races, Zokora went down clutched his head knowing the game would be stopped. Cheatin cheating cheating and for want of another word it is cheating. Did anyone see the smug grin as he looked back just aftr the incident. It this the same player that totally flopped for a spurs penalty, twice I beleive but one was 100 % con. This is the kind of thing we need to stamp on. this is the kind of player that has no place on our game. The officials always seem to hav eoptions when it is other teams Quick note on Mido, someone on here made metion of him being cult hero. I did not want to sign this fella when some were going all gaga over his signature. I am more relieved now than ever that we did not sign that fella. Did not like him then did nto like him today and he's not that good of a player either. -

Surprise surprise, not given. I am sick to death of getting screwed by official. Sick sick sick Very slight contact for the pen, not intentional, a theatric dive it was more the way Toogs went in I think than the actual foul that swayed them. -

Wait a minute, that's not the whole story now is it. They may be doing well now but look at the years and years (decades) of struggling in the lower echelons since their fall from grace. -
Gally is not even on the bench today again. Signs are looking ominous for him, is he gonna be off in January.

I find myself ageeing with you TND, in regards to relegation. Having been isolated from the success, for the most part, in the Walker period I apreciate every moment we spend in the prem, even if we are struggling. I too fear that our next relegation will lead to a rapid decline in our clubs fortunes, A la Forest, Leeds, Coventry, Derby etc etc. -
What's DRM? What do you mean clock set wrong. Time not exact?, could the fact we dont use daylight savings in Arizona be an issue? COuld you expand a little Lee? If the issue is IE7 will this be addressed and by who, would it be you folks or Microsoft that has the "issue" Duh, I'm so confused. I wish I had noticed before I renewed

Well I'm in a quandry now, I have become fond of the tabbed browsing. Firefox won't work for RW and I don't like, no effin hate, the video clips as they are. Perhaps I'll wait to see if Guru Grooby can shed a little light on this technical darkness.

Nowt wrong with the phrase Rev really. It's quite true, if ti is put in terms of size of the town, fan base and potential for support it's very true. Look at some of the heavy hitters or more "fashionable" teams we finished above. We should be stronger than most promoted sides but we perhaps are fortunate to be stronger than some of the more established sides. It's a good phrase, sorry you don't like it, not being sarcy either. Let's do Spurs tomorrow, have my doubts though. -
Well put Rev but you sort of hit the nail on the head with your defence, the Trust is not The Walker Family and Vinjay is always having a go at the Wlakers, bit wide of th emark if that's the case don't you think. I'm sure when things aren't going well we'll find out who JW is accountable to. Bloody good questions though Rev and ones most Rovers fans would like to have answered. I'm done on this Vinjay thing. Can this thread.

Ah! but that is you, with my luck there will be nothing. Is there a way to back up favourites so at least I don't lose that. As for doubling the band width, great but not if it puts things so high end that the non geeks amongst us with our year and a half old goodies can not run it. My last computer I kept for 7 years, I hope to keep this one not that long but at least a coulpe more a couple more yet.
-
Holy moly, poor poor vinjay, I know a good shrink.
-
Tried it again this morning, it's still bad even without tab browsing.

Please explain, x1xxx- xXxx not sure what you mean, how do I roll back to IE6? I have one game on my 'puter, Call of Duty the card handles that game very well. Like I said the issue seems to be exclusively Rovers World, I spent 2 hours tonight playing streaming video's from youtube, played some of the clip I have links to, watched all kinds of news videos at Yahoo and my home page, no problems with any of those. BTW I'm not using a laptop. Well I did a little more playing around and here is what I found. I got the video to run much much better, still not as good as when I had IE6 but far better than it was. Only a few stutter rathr than the buffering every 5 seconds. What I did was to disable the tabbed browsing feature in IE7, unfortunate since that was the only reason I downloaded it. For the time being if you have IE 6 and you are ok with the performance I'd stick with it. I'd still like to know how to roll back to IE6. I had already tried restore and it did not want to know. It's almost midnight thirty so I will try again when volume is likely to be higher.
-
Not for me anymore, I'm miffed. I just re-upped my subscription and for some reason the Video Highlights have gone bunk. The whole site now takes forever to load and the video on high setting buffers about every 5 seconds. Whats happened everything worked fine a few week ago video delivery was smooth as silk, no buffering in high, fast loading. It's as bad (almost) as my old 233mhz. I have a cable connection, 7.5Mbps download, 128mb radeon 300se video, 512mb RAM 2.8Ghz processor. It should handle everything fine. The only other thing I have changed is to download IE7 but I can't put my finger on whether that is when things went to crap or not. All other video downloads fine, just Rovers World. Like I said it ain't worth a penny Any ideas/input from fellow members would be welcome, or even the great guru LEE could shed a little, it's very frustrating.

GAV, please clarify "leathered" I have this awful image of you trawling the red light district in Amsterdam wearing.... well you get the picture.

I have just read his e-mail and it has just confirmed my original thought it's a complete plonker, possibly borderline for some serious help in the mental health dept.

I think you are missing the point a bit my friend, I think what we have here is an extreme case of absence making the heart grow fonder. The Mods are 100% correct the person hijacked almost every bloody thread with the same anti Walker sentiment. That, I for one got well and truly sick of. Let's spare a minute to think of the mods situation. If the person had stuck to a thread or even a couple perhaps he/she could not have been banned. I too doubt he/she has any fondness in it's heart for Rovers. In fact given the fact that most dingles despise Jack because he made us bigger, better and won us stuff It would not surprise me in the least if it was one of them as others have suggested
