[Archived] Liverpool 1-0 Rovers
USABlue replied to roversWASmylife's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I'd agree with that Philip, Start with Bellers (if fit) and Dickov, pressure the defence, keep 'em busy and wear them out a bit. Then bring in Kuqi when they are a little leg weary, he can really take advantage of that, much faster than he seems. -
Dingle moment, heh heh. Good one. Where do you get this stuff Abbs.
-
Add me too. It keeps me awake at work. Lose the flasher.
-
Come on, you have all been following Rovers for long ehough now to know that they must let us down big time.
-
Just to mess with you.
-
That's standard isn't it Abster, and it is helping to kill the game. the likes if us have a hard enough time with the big boys without the favouritism. All we need now is for th Broncos to lose, Cards to win and me and Abbey to get laid and it's been a good weekend.

I thought our yellows were very lame today. Is not persistant fouling a yellow. Silvestre's deliberate knee in the back on Bellers warranted yellow. I simply hate watching Man U at the Bucanners place, even when it is not us. I am also convinced this impartial reffing is part of the reason the game is slipping in popularity. The only saving grace is, in injury time I found myself very surprised that the ref actually let a few things go that in the past have gone against us and cost us points against Utd. Prhaps he had a heart after all and figured we desreved it. All worked out well in the end but I was a bit miffed when Hughes changed it at half time. I personally would have gone for 10-15 mins with the side from the first half and then changed. But what a great win, massive and we deserved it I think.

Doing OK so far, 7 shots on target could be 2 or 3 up but for Van Der Sar. Ref is going to gift the game to United, I already don't like the double standards. United are allowed to hold down our players for every headed ball, arms on shoulders, both arms holding our players. Silvestre on Bellers was a deliberate knee. Pedersen gets called for a perfectly good sliding tackle. You watch a ref's decision will either change or gift the game to the Glazers.
-
I'd swap Dickov for Kuqi. Remember we must try to get around Utd's back 4 we won't have any joy trying to go through them. Play wide, get at em and whip the crosses in behind 'em for Kuqi and Bellers. We can beat 'em that way they are always shaky when teams do that. With Dickov we'll try to go through 'em Dickov will not get the foul calls, even less than normal, and will spend all the game whining at the ref.

Since Paul Scholes has been saying Utd must win their next two games or the Premiership race is over I would like to be able to think we put paid to their title hopes.

Who's effin reffin this one.

[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
USABlue replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
The criticism is justified in his tactics for the Newcastle game. All around I think he has done a ggod job. Remember Hughes is learning also, he just does not have the knowledge that us fans do I know what you mean about the rainbow, I think we will get over a hump and do well. Problem is the paying public of Blackburn will have long since been lost and as I have said before it will take something special to get them back. BTW, I did not see the game but how did we manage to be boring with over 20 shots at goal? -

You won't hear any I told you so's from me. Let's all be realistic here. I think we are all over reacting a bit. It's 6 games in, our main striker is still not match fit, our big man is still adjusting give it a bit more time. We have showed we can play some decent stuff. I have no clue thought why Hughes decided to go 4-5-1 on Sunday. I was stunned when I heard the line up. That game is gone, a few tough games coming up, we are only 3 points off 8th if we can string a few results together things will look a lot better. -

I'm not even going to read the posts on here cos I think I pretty much know how they are going to go. I have a few words, gutted, sadenned, disappointed, hurt, not surprised. It beggars belief, sounds like we have not yets fixed our inability to make the most of our chances. Man U up next L'pool not far behind that it looks like we are back to square one when Hughesy came. Sidenote, I watched the Fulham and W. Ham game this weekend and I noticed Mr Poll let go way more than he did in the Rovers Bolton game. Further proof that it is in fact the media (or the FA) that is influencing the outcome of some games. Another reason the bums aren't going in the seats. Really, looking at the way things have been for us, we have a knack of ending teams negative stats. It was almost written in the stars, Shearer to score (again from a disputed free kick) Owen would grab his FIRST for Newcastle. Newcastle would record their FIRST win and their goal drought would end. It is just all too much to bear, I've had enough of footy for a bit. Well till about Tuesday. -
[Archived] Poll - Falling Attendances.

Perhaps your best post ever Sam. -
I thought that was a disgraceful challenge by Stelios. Stelios himself went on to whine at the ref on plenty of occasions, as did Campo, as did Davies not stop.
-
That's funny cos I was thinking if this is a top English Ref then our officiating is in worse shape that I thought. I don't think he did us any favours, whilst managing to do a few for Bolton. I thought he was inconsistent both ways, I was not impressed with his all round game. Add to that the disgraceful booking of Matteo and it sums up his poor performance IMHO. Two more yellows for us just cos Poll had a bad un, does not seem right.
-
I don't disagree about the touch bit, not at all, neither was I referring to you. The criticism in general is harsh. I think if you think back to the early games and take in his performance at Bolton you may notice his touch and control actually have improved a bit. I think the blokes gonna be a good un.
-
All of which was about 100 times more than Matt "can do no wrong in some folks eyes" Jansen did in twice the amount of time. I find it bewildering how people on here can defend Jansen yet criticise Kuqi. He had a definate impact. As for the game, I thought we did well, I was not expecting to come away with anything. More teams will come away from the Reebox empty handed than not. The game plan was well executed to suit a stifling Bolton team. As for entertainment well I don't recall seeing an entertaining game with Bolton featuring for quite sometime. We did what we had to do IMHO and we did try to snatch the game, but let's not forget Bolton close you down quickly, it's not easy to play against them, ALL the top teams had trouble with Bolton last year, why not us?
-
A point I raised on another thread. Seems it is not the carthorse that has the blinkers on. Never mind last season he clearly scared the bejeebers out of the Bolton defence. He put them in bother on several occasions, if he had a strike partner we could have been looking at a comfortable victory. I think it is out of order to call him a carthorse anyway, he has very deceptive speed, thats why Notlob almost got caught out, they thought he was slow too. Obviously some of our fans will not take to him until he's bagged 30 goals even then they'll moan I'm sure.
