  1. They look good in defence, very hard to break down but haven’t been as good going forward, last night being a good example, they don’t concede many but aren’t the best goal scoring side in the league. I’m hoping our defensive form can continue, I find over the course of a season at times goals can sometimes be hard to get and forwards can have quiet periods where something doesn’t quite click but if we keep it solid in the back it can make it easier to pick up 1-0 wins along the way when we aren’t firing on all cylinders. I feel that a solid back 3/5 that we have could be the back bone to our promotion push.
  2. It would be very difficult to say that they aren’t playing for him at the moment. I always believed giving him time was the right way to go. At the halfway way marker he’s doing fantastic this season.
  3. It seems solid out, I thought it would effect our goal scoring but he’s really given the wing backs the freedom to push up and the lads in midfield are happy to run with the ball in the midfield n we transition up the pitch quickly which is great. last 5 games 11 goals scored, 0 conceded (as long as we keep the clean sheet today)
  4. I would be surprised if TM doesn’t make some changes now, job is done
  5. Fantastic, who would have thought after that Fulham game that we would get 19 out of 21 points, unbelievable run
  6. I came over from Ireland for the Coventry game, was surprised how expensive the ticket was. Now I sat in the JWU with my father who is a season ticket holder. But I remember paying less for tickets when we were in the prem. To be fair I do think that being a season ticket holder is a big commitment. your committing to 23 games a year, my old man is retired so he has the time to go every weekend and hasn’t got any other commitments. But you might find that over the pandemic people with families have taken on new hobbies or activities that they have committed to or just prefer to do and have decide we will occasionally attend games rather than committing to a ST. Also some may have been financially affected by the pandemic n paying out for an ST just isn’t financially viable at the moment. Football is entertainment at the end of the day n is one of the first thing sacrificed when times are tough.
  7. What constitutes a decent replacement tho? like what’s the point of selling a player who has the ability and confidence to score for fun in this division and replacing him with someone who might fill the gap with a few goals but not enough to give us a chance in the top 6. the reason goal scorers go for so much is that it’s incredibly hard to find them. I would say go ahead at the end of the season but no way mid season, the idea that we can sell him for 20 million and replace with 3 good players and finish in the top 6 isn’t a strategy we should go with in my opinion because one really good player can bring on average players and turn them into good players because they believe that with that really good player on the pitch he will find the net or make something happen, which BBD is doing. I honestly think the squad has a good bit of depth at the moment I don’t think we need more players we can only play 11 at one time, we just need to keep going till the end of the season and keep our key players here (lenihan rothwell n BBD) n then look to cash in in the summer and rebuild again if we don’t go up. I would just be so pissed if we throw away our chance to get promoted to cash in and what rebuild again n spend another couple of season trying to get the new players to gel. This team is gelling why mess with it. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. if we get to the end of January n it’s gone to sh*t I will probably change my opinion tho 🤣
  8. Without BBD they haven’t a hope of selling home tickets for £30 a pop 🤣🤣🤣
  9. If he’s sold you do have to think what will that do to the rest of the squad, like as a player you need to have something to chase n be motivate by, this team is surely saying to one another “come on lads we can make top 6”. if you take Diaz out what does that do to the mind set of the team. surely doubt has to start setting in and if someone can’t quickly step in and bang the goals in like BBD is then I think we’ll go backwards very quickly
  10. Surely tho as a football clubs who’s main focus should be to as well as it can on the pitch and has the ambition of reaching the prem would be willing to risk the drop in a transfer fee for the reward of promotion. If the club sells Diaz then surely it’s a sign of a club with no ambition and the at that point what is the point of all of this? the club are going with the policy of keeping ticket prices high while the form is good and trying to capitalise on us being in form n playing well and having a promotion push, surely if we sell him excitement will go down like a lead ballon, players will lose motivation as we are basically saying we have no intension of trying to get promoted and the club will go backwards again. by keeping Diaz and pushing for promotion surely the excitement that it will stir and the increased numbers it will attract will reduce the loss we may have by waiting till the summer to sell him?
  11. Is Lenihan suspended for this game? He picked up his 5th yellow up last weekend.
  12. I agree we should be setting targets where we want to be etc etc 8 wins outa 10 a bit over the top. But it all depends on what TM is given to spend, no point setting targets when there unwilling to giv him the tools to achieve those targets. Also agree it's a little early to renew his contract just yet.
  13. Yeah but that wasn't down to him he hadn't dismantled the squad and hired Coyle. He came in he resigned Emnes and signed Joao both on loan. I'm presuming he had no money to spend, he managed to get 2m for Marshal who was expected to only get 1m as the limited time was left on his contract and then he got rid of Coyle who yes should have gone before xmas but for any new DOF it was going to be difficult to walk in day 1 and send Coyle on his way as a certain amount of assessment is needed. And to be fair his appointment of TM almost payed off in what could be argued was very unlucky when u consider the amount of points we accumulated (51pts). Im not arguing he was the amazing by any means but in a limited time and with a very limited budget he almost kept us up.
  14. To be fair what can a director of football do when your budget is 0 and there is no money even to draw loans in cus we can't afford their wages ( or a proportion of their wage), he hire TM which wasn't a bad call. I think I would have left that position if that's all I had to work with and the other director was in charge of cutting everything.
  15. Yeah the big problem I see is that there is arguably 11 players out the door (5 loanees and 6 contracts up) and if we want to do anything next season we need to start recruiting straight away. But with what we will probably offer players they will wait for a better opportunity and we will be stuck trying to sign players late into August which makes a balls of preseason and we'll be forced to start the season with youth in the side which I don't think is a great option in L1. I think TM will have a hard time getting anything out of the board and his ability to recruit and prepare for next season will be a sham. I can see anyone worth anything will be sold to try pay wages and anything brought in will be a loanee or someone willing to come on a low wage. It's going to be very difficult for any manager. i want TM to stay but can't see him getting the backing. I think he will do a good job with the @#/? hand he is presented with again but I don't think we will have the players to get back up again. I think we will have a very thin squad and at best we will manage a playoff place
  16. Iv been very pro TM since he's come in, iv liked his honesty and he cuts the BS out n says it fairly straight. We are definitely hard to beat he's got the back more organised and he's given us a chance of staying up so credit to that but, I felt he was too slow to go for it on Saturday. I accepted the plan for the first half stay compact go in level but that's when he should have thrown the kitchen sink at it. It felt like he was giving 15 mins of pressure at the end hoping that we would score and then there wasn't enough time to concede late on, but really he didn't allocated enough time to get the goal and we fizzled out with a draw. With 3 games left and we need 3 pointers to survive it was a poor decision and I think we should have thrown caution out the window after half time and the instructions should have been go for it lads.
  17. I would be surprised if he was on much especially after his performance at Coventry but I could be wrong of course. I agree that he might not have a winning mentality but he does have this resilience about him and work ethic that I do like. It's hard to tell really, personally I like him and I won't be pointing the finger at him if we go down. I just appreciate he's taken the job on, he's doing his very best and he's being very straight up with us. Whether that is good enough to keep us up I don't know. Obviously our recruiting plan is the problem at hand
  18. How did I miss read you comment? If you want a winner ( Warnock ) it's going to cost you and we obviously don't have it.
  19. Let's be honest though "winners" cost money and for the limited budget that we have he's done well and hasn't made excuses. He's been upfront. I think a lot of managers would struggle to get these clowns to play well our only signing in January was Joao on loan like come on where is the ambition. Im keeping the faith I think we could just scrape out
  20. I agree I think he is doing the very best he can with the players he's been given, we would definitely be in a different position if we had him at the start of the season, theres been a couple of games where he was to blame but he's human and he can't get it spot on every time, I think for the majority he's got things right and then there's a certain amount of responsibility that the players need to be accountable for. Hes come in a short period of time where there hasn't been much room for error and the fact that we are still in with a good chance of staying up with 3 games to play with such a week squad is credit to him. Most would have written us off with Coyle as manager but he's brought belief into the camp and now he's got a full squad to pick from with mulgrew and Lenihan coming back in we need to through the kitchen sink at it now. i think a small amount will rely on the tactics for the remaining all about heart at this stage, if he can't get them to fight for it we are at nothing. 2-1 win COYB
  21. I can't watch the PL anymore watching over paid majority foreign players who couldn't care less about the teams they play for, all about money it's a disgrace. I enjoy the six nations and the odd Irish international qualifiers because they actually want to play for Ireland and alway punch above their weight, the rest is wasted on me at the moment.
  22. That stat is incorrect we had a couple of 1 nil home wins this year
  23. I just did the math n before TM took over we average 0.9 points per game and since he's taken over we are averaging 1.2 points per game which isn't a huge difference but would have been easily enough to keep us up if it was sustained for the entire season. A lot recently questioning TM and whether he's any good and some of his selections have been questionable. However I really like him, he cuts out the BS he gives a straight answer and shows passion and drive which has been missing for a long time at the club. I feel a little sorry for him that he came in after the winter window where he could have maybe tried bring in a few that would have had a bit more character that could have helped get us out of this predicament. So he's basically had to work with what he's got which is really limited. I genuinely believe that if we can stay up we will have a better season next year. Nothing amazing but I reckon mid table could be in sights. but it all comes down to whether this set of players have enough in them to keep us up and if they can pull it together for 3 final games.
  24. I don't understand why people presume we are gone, we have 3 games left n just a point off 4th bottom. looking at the forest and brums remaining fixtures they could win lose or draw any of them. I think it's impossible to call. I believe the Bristol game was the hardest of the last 5 fixtures as they were on a bit of form and they knew that if they went and got a win against us they would definitely be safe so they had as much to play for as we did. Forest lost to us at home and then away to Cardiff who have absolutely nothing to play for and Birmingham are in complete free fall and Harry isn't garenteed anything. I know we didn't play well but we got a result, we are still in the mix n have a chance if we can grind out a few more results. It's going right down to the wire and I don't think you can call it until the nail is actually in the coffin. In the space of 1min we got a goal and forest conceded throwing the whole thing up in the air again. For a team that didn't turn up for 70 mins we ended up nearly pinching the game. All 3 teams are so inconsistent and poor that anything could happen and I'm not prepared to write us off yet.
