  1. He put that same 'embarrassed' emoji he used about Rodwell - hate that Nixon prick. Probably chuckling to himself over all this Brereton stuff that he has helped to fuel with lies and BS about chickens and millions to spend and now rubbing it in our faces when our 'true' level of targets are being revealed.
  2. Think they will see how they are going by January - they know they can get 20-30 mil for Grealish if they need to. If they are looking good in the top two in Jan they will keep him, if not they might just sell him off just in case.
  3. Third season now https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Aston_Villa_F.C._seasons
  4. I would take Chapman - even if it was only as an impact sub.
  5. Pretty sure there will be meltdown with that one one here - especially after talk of spending huge amounts on a striker recently.
  6. They have bounced between the Championship and League 1 for a few seasons but I am still amazed they have not broken the million barrier in their history, 900k is their record and that was almost 30-years ago.
  7. Its quite clear you do not need to sell the kid despite throwing millions around lately - despite the Nixon talk of you guys hiring an agent to shop him around the day before deadline day. I'm all for buying potential but our current situation really means we need someone that can either step up now to be a main number 9 or somebody that after a season working with Graham and sharing the workload - will be ready to take it on the following season. Plenty of short-term young loans that can be made from the PL or Brereton as a stop-gap but that leaves us with far too much work to do next season as the new striker really WOULD have to be of the quality to hit the ground running.
  8. Please no. 5th choice striker at a rock bottom QPR - jeezuz. From one extreme to another on here today. 14 million strikers to this guy!
  9. Danny Graham is in the last year of his contract and can barely play more than 60 minutes each week as it is - so a permanent striker to compete/learn/share the load with this season and then replace him possibly next season is what we ideally need. In fact it has been the biggest priority for most of us fans this window. We have Armstrong but he is a different kind of striker and mainly plays in the three behind the big man. A loan only would just show that we have failed in this transfer window to address a very important area. Brereton would go back home next season and we would have to find a striker all over again (two now in fact).
  10. Wasnt his brother - was another player who he called brother or something like that. It was James Maddison (the expensive one) who is not Marcus Maddissons brother. Think he was congratulating a team mate who had gone to FT on loan - calling him brother.
  11. Will cost more than 10 million if they rejected that from a PL club. I would also rather spend the money than not spend it too but the question is do we even really have it?
  12. We are back to having no idea if we really have much money now if any at all after the statement from the Nottingham reporter. Talks of no bids coming from us at all on deadline day. Im confused with it all tbh - dunno what the hell is going on but if we do have money, this deal is not one we should be pursing now as 10/12/14 million or whatever next is bandied around is criminal for 'potential'.
  13. if its true they rejected a PL bid of 10+ on deadline day, our interest should have ended there and then.
  14. A million will be Millwalls record transfer? Wow - they seriously have done very well over the years then.
  15. Yeah, then the Venkies have injected more due to killing more chickens or words to that effect. Probably needed a cover story for our supposed big bid. I dont know what to believe anymore. One thing is certain, I highly doubt we have the 8/10/12 million that keeps getting thrown around. 5 mil tops i would imagine.
  16. Thanks for the posts, we know very little about him - most of us hadnt even heard of him until deadline day. This potential signing is causing some debate here for various reasons. Our owners have spent little to nothing in the final two years we were in the Championship - in fact selling up 30 million in talent and not reinvesting which led to the drop. We spent 1.5 million in league 1 and now suddenly we apparently have 8/12/14 million to spend on top of the transfers we have already brought in Armstrong for 1.75, Davenport 500k, Rothwell a few hundred k. While it sounds great that they are seemingly funding us for some kind of push nearer the better half of the division, many are worried about using such a large chunk of it on an unproven teenager who seems to have a fairly poor goalscoring record - especially when the likes of Bamford went for a similar sum of money despite having banged goals for fun in this division previously. If what you say that his finishing, hold-up play and composure are his biggest weaknesses, this adds a bit of concern as those are exactly what we need as whoever comes in would be direct competition (and eventual replacement) for Danny Graham who excels at most of those areas of the game. Many have argued that the money would be best spent spread around the squad as we could do with a winger, creative midfielder as well as a striker (or two). You say young English youth international strikers cost a premium - Adam Armstrong didnt.
  17. Think this is more likely than your first selection. he might stick with Smallwood though - which i wouldnt agree with.
  18. In fairness, they were all pretty bad in that first half.
  19. We have cover but I would not say that it is adequate cover. Nuttal, then we could be starting with Conway if Dack is out with Palmer in the middle.
  20. Not only been us willing to take a punt on him either. Was about to sign for Watford, had the medical done and everything and it was only an outgoing player that decided to stay and signed a new contract that prevented the move.
  21. At the same time though - if he just said nothing people would be up in arms about that too. Didnt listen to it myself but others have said that Rodwell hinted at Reed and Brereton coming in today.
  22. I was waiting for someone to say that haha
