TM has always made a big thing of making sure players of the right attitude are brought in - so like you say, his attitude might not be a problem. I doubt he would bring someone in who he feels could disrupt the dressing room. Perhaps Rodwell wants to resurrect some kind of career, needs a fresh move and a manager like TM to get him back on track. As long as its short term, low-cost deal with a carrot on a string for a better deal down the road, so that he really puts in the effort its a low-risk gamble for me.

We have all been saying this for quite a while now, well, last season it was mainly as a replacement for Evans rather than Smallwood. TM for whatever reason doesnt really like EB in the middle unless he has no other choice which to me is a little odd. Seems to prefer him as a bit of balance to the three behind. Rothwell is the one that I think might cause him a few headaches now after last nights performance. He was fantastic in the middle in the second half and I think in home games at the very least, he should have that spot alongside Evans.

I didnt see that about Dack for next game? I was actually surprised not to at least see him on the bench last night as just a few days ago TM said he was confident Dack would start against Reading. Is the knock worse than first thought?

TM has gone to great lengths to discuss Rodwell and as he seems to know it wont necessarily be a universally popular signing. As long as he doesnt bring him on a 3+ year contract or something and instead gives him a year to earn a better contract - then it wouldnt be the worst signing. Still only 27 and obviously was pretty good earlier in his career. Perhaps TM can get something close to that back from him.

In all fairness, Evans has previously only looked good on the odd occasion and that was picked up by many. Most, myself included are happy to see that he is finally starting to put in consistently good performances since the backend of last season and credit where credits due he gets the plaudits for those performances. I had him as MOM against Hull and very close to it again last night but just shaded by Rothwell in my opinion.

Many penned this as a match to be wary of and so it proved. Dack and Palmer out was obviously a massive factor as with both or even one of those playing, I could not see anything other than a victory for us. Dreadful in the first half it has to be said despite a nice flurry in the first ten minutes but being so thin squad-wise was always going to affect team morale especially with your best player out. Us without Dack is like Barca without Messi albeit on a lower scale and you could tell it affected the players mentally int he first half not knowing what to do without having that man they could rely on to produce something. TM obviously gave them a rocket and we did show some fabulous character in the second half. Rothwell, now has to be pushing for a starting position and I would suggest he takes up Smallwoods role in CM or takes Bennetts place with Bennett slotting next to Evans. Bennett showed some real grit, as did Evans and Nyambe (JAL are you there?), I said last week just gets better and this week he has shown that again. People comment he doesnt get forward as much as they would like but I can see that confidence coming into him now. When he first started out he was a little raw but his game is developing extremely fast. Lenihan was below par but so were many in the first half and Raya showd some of his weaknesses again. Graham when he came on showed the intelligence he has as a player but I worry for his legs now - we seriously need somebody else to be a direct alternative for him. Nuttall and Samuel were improved from when I last saw them but really they are not ready for this level yet. End of day - we need bodies of quality in.

To be fair, for me, he has played well since the end of last season and so far this one. The cynic in me says that is mainly because his, what is it? 15k a week contract is coming to an end. Suits us for this season though - then I would just give him 1-year extensions if thats what it takes to make him play.

Think being unbeaten is key - how long now? Losing could have been a massive dent to confidence so this I think will add to it considering the players we lost.

I admit - You called it on McShane. Surreal game really - i was about to turn off at half-time too. TM muist have given a rocket at half-time though. We need bodies in, so many knocks and injuries - whether its an 8 million striker or some quality additions spread out at that value I dont care. We are threadbare right now.
