  1. Another attacking midfielder. Heard he was signing for AEK Athens however,
  2. Didnt somebody say Hoffman would cost 4 or 5 million? Another huge gamble at that price IMO. 27 now so not so much resale value and previously failed in the Championship with Brentford.
  3. I think there will be some last chance saloons for a few players this coming season. Rothwell, is not young anymore and should be close to the finished article of what we can expect from him, Chapman needs to force his way into contention and Holtby really has to consistently show us what he is all about as on the whole, he has not lived up to his reputation. With a lot of deadwood gone, you would imagine that they would all feature more prominently however they could fall further down the pecking order should some of the newer kids start to really kick on (Buckley, JRC, Vale, Butterworth and Dolan).
  4. I'd be happy with that. The CB really should be of starting standard though, big hole to replace with Tosin gone and with just Williams and kids as backup, we need someone with experience of this league if possible. Then look at some euro freebies as backup/competition.
  5. 2 of each ideally yes, especially when you consider how injury prone our backline is. Nyambe, Lenihan and Williams usually miss quite a few games each season. Could get away without a backup keeper i would imagine for now (watch Kaplinki go and get injured now I said that).Bell could do as a backup for now too. So LB and two CB's at a minimum for me.
  6. Yup, still need a CB and LB as priority. Possibly 2x CB is Mulgrew and Williams leave.
  7. On the two showings so far, Dolan must already be pushing to be involved in and around the first team. How on earth did he not get a new contract at PNE?
  8. It wont be as a starter though, he is a useful squad player that can fill a couple of positions on the backline. I am not adverse to keeping him here as a backup either.
  9. Batty was the in your face, tough tackling midfielder that every successful team needs. He was not short of ability either and could play. Obviously not in Keane's league but about as good as we could get as a second option at the time. Travis reminds me very much of Batty - which does excite me. Sherwood was the more cultured midfielder, so cultured in fact that we did not need Zidane lol. He would get you a few goals and assists, something that you would not get too much from Batty.
  10. Dont like to list them in order as it seems unfair to put any above another but the greats in my time were Shearer, Duff Tugay and Friedal.
  11. Has to be about wages. They do not want to sign players on PL wages so just bring in signings in the Championship on Championship wages in order to hopefully bounce back up and stand a chance of staying up the following season. Cannot think of any other reason they do things how they do.
  12. Tuugh start for sure but we tend to be slow starters anyway. The good thing about this is that we should have an easier run in for when we are challenging for the playoffs ?
  13. The question is, was this guy somebody we were scouting? He was only just recently dropped I believe and then told he could leave by his new manager. Perhaps we just moved quicker than anyone else on what seems to be a good deal on paper? Bought for 2 mil 18 months ago and then sold for 500k either means we are getting a bargain as they need a quick sale or his value has dropped considerably for one reason or another.
  14. In other news, that Wigan LB has signed for Fulham. Bargain at 1.5 million.
  15. People are just pleased to be (hopefully) getting a permanent keeper with a bit of experience and also still of a decent age. Being foreign helps too considering our supposed foreign scouting department. Sure, the reports of his errors and cock kicking are a little worrying but think its best we judge him in our colours. Sometimes players need a fresh start, his history does not suggest he always had a clanger in him - seems to be more this season only.
  16. Been making a lot of errors and loses concentration according to https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/blackburn-rovers-gent-kaminski-insight-18808308
  17. Gonna be a nervy weekend, far too much time for something to go wrong or minds to change.
  18. When we signed Flowers, it was the world record for a keeper I believe - cannot remember the fee exactly though. Edit: 2.4 million according to wiki. I was also wrong on the record, it was the British record at the time.
  19. Actually from here - https://www.archyde.com/aa-gent-goalkeeper-thomas-kaminski-on-his-way-to-blackburn-rovers/
  20. Seriously seems like the kick in the dick is what started this all off End of story for Thomas Kaminski in the Ghelamco Arena. The 27-year-old goalkeeper of the Buffalos lost his starting place to Davy Roef last week after the defeat at Sint-Truiden, when he unluckily collided with teammate Plastun during the second Truien goal. Today he says goodbye to his colleagues at Ghent and on Monday he would take his medical tests at Blackburn, which plays in the Championship, the English second division. There is already an agreement at club level, between Blackburn and Kaminski some details still need to be clarified. The transfer from Kaminski to Blackburn would cost approximately 500,000 euros. Basel also showed interest in the Ghent goalkeeper, but would end up fishing behind the net. Perhaps the Buffalos in turn are also looking for an additional goalkeeper. In principle, Colin Coosemans will be visiting Antwerp tomorrow evening on the couch as a duplication of Roef.
  21. Would have to assume so as we are paying a fee. Westwood as number one with this guy pushing him (and eventually taking his place) would be pretty epic though.
  22. Gotta say i am liking this. Finally our scouting network bearing some fruit? Good age, recent European experience played for a top club in a decent European league and most importantly - will be ours. Sharpe says we after two keepers, like that too but I would want a CB and LB over another one first. One of our kids can be number two if all else fails.
  23. Would be a massive boost if he was back in training - enough time to get fit for the start of the season?
