  1. 'In Chaddy style' Spot on Blue Bruce, i totally agree with your post.
  2. Tbf, the former Shrewsbury boss was responsible for most of that. Sold of a lot of experienced Championship players and bought a shit ton of L1 players (including 2 or 3 from Shrewsbury) thinking they could all step up at once. Jon Nolan anyone? has he pulled up any trees? i think with a proper structure in place Lambert could have been a decent option for us to proress with.
  3. Yup, i was really excited to see if he could carry that form on this season - only for TM to put a stop to that immediately. I agree with the rest of your post that the excitement has gone a little and I am not sure if he will ever become that player that we all hoped. Whether it is confidence, the need for consistent selection or whatever, we only seem to get a burst of good games from him each season.
  4. Smallwood seems to be top end L1 and bottom end Championship level, so an ideal move for him to go to a side that will be looking to challenge for automatic promotion. Was great for us in L1. Travis emerged and we that pretty much signaled the end for him here which was compounded when we signed the likes of Downing and Bradly Johnson. He was completely frozen out though this season, which suggests some kind of fallout. Refusing to play in the reserve team for the Lancs Cup and then also refusing to go out on loan is likely to have had something to do with that.
  5. He would be told to fight for his place ahead of Bell and Williams...will then sign on the dotted line for Milan.
  6. Was one of the signings Brentford made that didnt come off. Just come off his best season however. 17 goals in 33 games is not too shabby at all.
  7. "What would you be if you wasnt a footballer?" "A virgin" Peter Crouch
  8. Wonder if Charlton would like an aging CB with great set piece ability as part of a deal for their keeper? I know pompey have shown interest in Mulgrew.
  9. We were told last summer we were going to get in an experienced keeper and a young understudy. We got a kid in on loan. I would like to believe that we are still trying to do that original plan but i will not hold my breath. Dont think we will be getting two keepers and will probably end up with another kid in on loan.
  10. Especially when you consider the players he didnt mention. I can think of at least 10 worst signings than either.
  11. He would be bonkers not to, his stock is on the rise, he is young and would likely have aspirations of the PL. Football careers are short, what 15 years on average? And we expect AA to sign for close to half of what he has left in the game without anyway out if a top club comes calling?
  12. Recall reading that - he texted someone to sign Rhodes or something. Or was it he texted the manager to tell him which subs to bring on?
  13. I thought Gomes was was very good but wasnt given as much time as he deserved. You could tell he was a proper footballer and not coming here for a final paycheck.
  14. Ah come on - how sexy is this? Still, he would be an upgrade on TM, no doubt and knows how to get the best out of what he has.
  15. lol at Chaddy saying a 4-year contract with no release clause. You act like you know about football and then come out with nonsense like that. Contracts work both ways you know! Why would any footballer that aspires to increase his standing, wage and level of football, tie himself into a 4-year deal with no release clause? Aside from the fact that AA's agent would be well against it, what do we have that AA cannot find elsewhere? We could offer that and it would be rejected hands down by both player and agent. AA will know if there is interest in him and he could refuse the contract, wind it down and then leave for nothing. A release clause is a meet in the middle for both club and player - we will sign you up for a few years, increase your wages but will let you talk to any club that matches the release clause. That's how modern football works. This isnt Footbal Manager (whereby I always either have no release fee or set in it incredibly high) - the real world is totally different.
  16. It really is the only solution for them if they want a chance at getting their money back...there is no other way they. So it is mindboggling that they are trying to do it on the cheap (which actually just costs them more in the long run anyway). Start by getting in the best manager that money can buy ala Beisla at Leeds and back him (perhaps after the 3-year cycle of FFP has finished for us). Get a proper CEO and a proper structure set up at the club. Throw a nice chunk of money in for good signings and we might just have a chance. Take a bit of a gamble. All of it is being done on the cheap and it will never get us to where we and THEY need us to be for this to have a chance of ending. At our current rate of progression it will take 5 years to make the playoffs - it is far too slow.
  17. It was a loan so not sure how it could have been a better offer. He gets his wage anyway. Probably was just told he would play CM and a be a regular starter whereas TM probably told him he would have to watch Smallwood in training and fight for his place in the team and in no guaranteed position.
  18. Might have gone to a few of Walker's lockdown home parties.
  19. Bruh (think thats what they say these days), get down with the kids man.
  20. At WBA he played RB if i remember correctly with the odd appearance at CB. I remember WBA fans thinking he would make a better DM considering his ability on the ball. You can kinda see the logic in that I suppose. I think where he stands out as a CB is the way he can pick a pass through the midfield into the feet of the attackers - that is a good quality to have. At the same time, I am not overly convinced by his defensive ability although it is easily Championship standard. Him coming back on load would be nice but at the same time, all we would be doing was once again helping to develop another player for another team. I would love him here permanently but that is unlikely to happen. Edit: Why did the composer of the video leave off his curler?
  21. Brad Smith was highly rated at one point. So much so that Liverpool put a buy back clause in when they sold him to Bournemouth. Not sure why it has not worked out there and he only played 3 games for Cardiff when on loan for second half of season. Think I would prefer Cunningham back.
  22. Slow build and all that. Probably still be after a goalie and lb in 4-5 years too,
