  1. A simple 'Decent shout but I would rather go for xxx or spent the money on a keeper' would have sufficed. We move on. Better than going to such great lengths to discredit this one random suggestion - which is all it was. Anyway, dont want to start the whole thing up again.
  2. Whiteman has been interesting half the Championship. Hull failed in a bid to get him, was linked to us, Derby, Barnsley, Huddersfield in January and now Forest have allegedly put in a bid.
  3. Not against the signing in isolation - the first sentence was tongue in cheek. 2 million on a midfielder when we need other positions is my issue. If it means we have a decent budget remaining to fill our main priorities then fine...if its this guy and then feebie/loan defenders and a goalie, dont like it. Better than our entire midfield is some statement. Not sure I can believe it but hope you are right (if we finally put a bid in and convince him to join).
  4. Why spend 2 million on a L1 midfieder when we have championship midfielders with more experience at the club? Not to mention we have 300 midfieders already and many more pressing concerns that need addressing in the team.
  5. Doesnt score enough for me, so will fit right in on the wing. Something like 1 in 15 he gets
  6. Seems the opposite. Trying to shut down the discussion by dismissing it so condecendingly.
  7. Why you upped it to 3 mil. I said a couple mil will probably get him.
  8. We dont know the budget. But i would want all of it spent on the defence/gk. I literally said in my first post, IF we have a bit of money to spend. Then gave the suggestion of a player. Obviously, it all changes depending on the budget. Just giving an opinion on a kid who i believe will become a very solid defender at this level. As for changing formations, no thanks. Just get defenders in.
  9. No but you are championing Wharton, a player with no international recognition that has mainly played league 2 level over this kid who has half a season experince in the Championship.
  10. No you said why buy a defender for a couple mil when we have defenders here with more champs experience. I asked who and you said Del. The kid has experience at this level. Captained England up to under 17 level, when they won the world cup. Is Wharton a youth international?
  11. And is shite, has no resale value, is shite and should be nowhere near the starting 11. So just one then? Seriously, we should avoid buying anyone that has played less Champs games than DW? Better not promote from the academy then, till Del retires at least.
  12. Again, he played 21 times in their defence in the first half of the season. Hardly 'not getting a game in their defence is it? Then went on loan. He has their big money signing Kalas in front of him. So he has to be better than him for him ti be a viable target for us? I have never claimed him to be a world beater. Merely put forward a suggestion on who we could sign to improve our defence that has potential to increase in value with us. Thats what this thread is about after all? Not quite sure why it has warranted such a prickly and downright rude response from you but heyho.
  13. Sigh, said player was playing reguarly at the start of the season. Was then loaned out for the second half....where he played regularly (also in the same division we picked Dack up from). In short, your whole post is incorrect bar the slight drop in form.
  14. Yes, Irvine was told a week before the restart that he contract was not being renewed. With no future security, he refused to play for fear of injury and not being being fit and able to attract another club/contract.
  15. The logic has me baffled too. Imagine if we didnt snap up Samba from Div 2 in Germany or signed Friedal on a free using that logic.
  16. Exactly, 10 years since our last opening day win. Makes you wonder what we are doing preseason to prepare for the new season with a record lie that.
  17. So, you have not listened and still have not done a bit of research for yourself. I have never said whether or not he is as good as Tosin. He is certainly an upgrade on our other options at CB aside from Lenihan though. Which is the whole point right? We need to strengthen on what we have at the back with some permanent incomings. 23 years old and has the potential to be an excellent CB at this level and possibly even the PL (considering WBA being heavily linked to him). He is in the last year of his contract presumably because he has let in run down due to a lack of playing time. I have read various interviews and he is highly ambitious and wants to play. I just do not understand your logic. We should not sign a player who is available with a year-left on his contract because he is available with a year left on his contract? Makes zero sense. You are just throwing out any transfer suggestions at CB so that you can continue with your suggestion of changing to a back 3 or 5 (both pointless ideas if you ask me). Besides we would need 'defenders' for that any way so not sure why you are being so dismissive of potential signings we could go for.
  18. How Arma and Dack work is a concern of mine too. If we could somehow get both of them scoring 15+ goals each season, we are onto a winner.
  19. Can we just win the first game of the season - for once!
  20. Yeah its acoss the board. We do noticably have a problem breaking down teams that come to play for a draw or nick a point. We probably look better on the eye against top half teams as the games are ore open and we do create a few chances/score goals. The problem is, we often concede more as they are generally just as good in an open game, dont have misfiring strikers/wingers and actual goalkeepers and left backs.
  21. Again do some research. In last year of his contract.
  22. As for the thought of messing around with formations (yet again), it fills me with dread. Tired of the constant changing of systems and it must confuse the hell out of the players.
  23. Think you should do a bit of research on the lad before labeling him as average and a Lenihan type. Pacey, tall, brings the ball out from the back and has good passing ability. In fact, the only negative is that this sometimes leads him to making mistakes. Sounds as close to Tosin as we are likely to find in the league that is a realistic target that could be ours to own instead of loan. Bristol fans think he should be a starter and were shocked when he was loaned out. Blackpool fans loved him and claimed he was a class above the other CB they loaned in (a certain Henerghen who we will probably get in on a free lazy transfer instead). Began his career at Lens, has played against the likes of Mbappe and attracted 10 million euro bids from other French clubs. They wanted 15 mil for him at the time so nothing materialised. Also was attracting prem interest before he eventually signed for Bristol City, He is behind the likes of Kalas but obviously wants to play.
