  1. Coventry must have had a touch of the " hairdryer " at half time, I fancy ...
  2. There's a case to be made for all results on the last day .... will all 3 relegation threatened Clubs fight like dogs and grind out wins ? Which Spurs will turn up at Elland Road ? Are AFC Bournemouth already " on the beach " ? Will West Ham have half an eye on their Euro final on 7th June ? I'd personally like to see Leeds and Everton drop, it'd only probably be for one season, assuming Everton get their financial house in order ? If they do go and get rid of Dyche, they need " sectioning ", with his track record of getting promoted from the Championship. A great chance also to clear the dead wood out of that squad, I suspect there's quite a few who're not Dyche's sort of player ..
  3. Hmm, he's been linked by that notable sage and wise man, Stan Collymore .... He's rumoured to be on £350k a week, which might just be a tad above our wage cap, methinks !
  4. From memory, I think I stuck it out until the 3rd went in and then went to do something more enjoyable, like cutting the back lawn with a pair of nail scissors ...... I don't think so, my Rovers friend is in much more need of it than me, he needs a lift and a reminder of happier times. Rovers scored as many goals in those 67 fateful minutes, as they have done in the last 10 fixtures against us ... 😉
  5. Here's the gift for my Rovers supporting friend for his 40th, and a bottle of Glenfiddich, luckily the offending item will be out of my house within a few days, it's been here too long already ... 😁
  6. I am, thank you, but might keep quiet about from which League they'd sunk to !
  7. Well that put me through the wringer .... I think we'd all agree as a fan, you'd be less than impressed if 107 points in a 46 game season, only 3 defeats and a goal difference of +75 did not see your Club promoted .... 😉
  8. I'll be watching this later on this afternoon ... My Dad, now 87 is in a Clitheroe residential home and lives with that b****rd of a condition that is Vascular Dementia. He grew up in Nottingham, lost his Dad during the war, and his Uncles would take him to Meadow Lane just after the war to watch County. I remember him telling me of the crowds going from 6,000 to 35,000 when they signed Tommy Lawton, when Notts were in the old 3rd Division North. When he was a bit older, he'd get the admission to both Meadow Lane & Trent Bridge, by collecting discarded beer bottles at the ground and getting the deposits back on them. By doing that, he saw the 1948 Australian " Invincibles ", led by Don Bradman on his last tour ... I've nothing against Chesterfield, but I'm visiting him with Mrs " Sympathetic Claret " tomorrow with his 2 year old Great-Granddaughter, and I'd love to be able to tell him " Notts " have been promoted ... 😎
  9. I certainly wouldn't be paying an annual Golf Club Membership if I were him ...
  10. I have just seen a Tweet entitled " News of Blackburn's season reaches Mexico ", but if I shared it on here, I fear even the most generously spirited Moderators, sorry, " Dictators ", may see fit to cut me adrift ...
  11. Me, in full Blackburn kit, October 1986 .... OK, wrong code of Football but still .... I also have several friends of the Rovers persuasion, one of who's son recently played in Rovers U14's 2-0 win over Burnley. I warmly congratulated both Son & Father on this, on a personal basis, naturally. Finally, to mark his 40th birthday, Mrs " Sympathetic Claret " and I have ordered a Retro Classico bespoke Ceefax T-Shirt for another friend, commemorating 1st April 2001 ..... Can I still play, please ? 😉
  12. If you must know, " Longsiders " and I joined Vinny, Little Al, JJ Watt, Ashley Barnes and our respective wives for a Five course meal with matching wines in the Burnley Boardroom last Friday. Alan and his wife drank Harrogate water, whilst we swapped tales of our various Burnley experiences together ... Alan then made a touching speech which brought a tear to the eye of both " Longsiders " and myself, after which we were presented with specially minted medals, to mark our gallant undercover services to the Club, " behind enemy lines " ! The highlight of the day was when " our Ashley " pulled up his shirt to reveal his new tattoo, on his left arm, in the exact place where the ball hit him in the 89th minute at Ewood .... it simply reads " Gotcha ! " At the end of the meal, we were both carried shoulder high from the building by members of the Championship winning squad to a chorus of " For he's a jolly good fellow " to awaiting Rolls Royces, to join our wives for a Spa-Weekend at the Crow Wood Hotel. The only downside was that Manual Benson suffered a back spasm trying to loft my ample frame skywards, which forced him to miss Monday's fixture ..... 😎😎
  13. Hardly embarrassing, I'd say, just a difference of opinion ... time will tell !
  14. If you go with the generally accepted premise that VK would eventually like to manage Manchester City, where they have built a statue of him, then there are many downsides to accepting the posts at Chelsea & Tottenham ... He would be Chelsea's 9th and Spur's 8th manager in the last 10 years. The one thing you don't get at those Clubs is time, owners and fans demand virtually instant success. I think we'd agree that Chelsea are in a mess at the moment, too many surplus players, squad are unfit, unhappy and underperforming ... Spurs may lose Kane in the summer and their defending is quite , what's the word " Spursey ? " I suspect money is not really an issue for him, he completed an MBA whilst still a player at City, for example. Why take on a Spurs/Chelsea where if he falls short, he lowers his stock markedly ? Even if Burnley struggle next season, it'll hardly be a surprise given our resources, if we're mid-table or slightly below, VK's still doing great ! Hmm ... how many managers have departed Ewood since Sean Dyche was appointed ? I believe it's 7, not including the 3 spells of caretaker managers. With Paul Lambert, I believe it was a rare case of the Club being fired by the Manager .....
  15. True, I suppose .... we might get Adam Wharton for £3m to replace Josh Cullen for the £15m we've been offered by Leeds/Nottm Forest/Everton, according to Alan Nixon ..
  16. Not entirely sure how a lad born and brought up in Burnley, who attended St Theodores RC High School a few years behind both my son and Jimmy Anderson, would feel about pulling on the Blue and White halves ...
  17. I'd like to say enjoys this afternoon, people, but you and I both know that's the wrong word for these occasions ... In 2001-02, we finished 7th ... we needed to beat Coventry by two clear goals to make the play-offs. We led one nil, but in the last 5 minutes, Magnus Hedman pulled off two " worldies " from Gazza's free kicks ( the only thing of note he did for us ) ... This left us on +11, and Norwich on +12. We'd scored 10 more goals than them ... Endure as best you can ...
  18. One big factor is that he lives in the North West, his wife is a Mancunian, and his children are all settled at School. He never took the road to London as a player, so I'm not sure that Chelsea/Spurs would be to his liking ... I'm fairly sure the contract would allow him to speak to City if the job becomes vacant, probably along the lines of, " We would want fair compensation, but we wouldn't stand in your way " ...
  19. Not particularly my bag, I quite agree ... However, it appears that the Social Media stuff, and the recent investment from JJ Hall, the recently retired NFL " legend " is the new way forward. BFC has 777k followers on Twitter, JJ Hall has 5.6m .... his task is apparently to make the plucky under-dog heroes from England's " Rust-Belt " forgotten Town the team to follow in the States ... We shall see ...
  20. I don't think SKY are expecting a massive " audience share " in the BB1,BB2 postcode areas, to be fair !
  21. Breaking news .... Blackburn magistrates and Club Officials will have a new sanction available to them from early September for any home supporters misbehaving at Ewood Park . Rather than issuing a Stadium ban or Community Service, offenders will be forced to watch all four episodes of the below on repeat for 48 hours ...
  22. I must admit a wry smile when I saw McAlister Pen ( 90+9 ) , thinking " Fergie-time !!
  23. For all we know, they may have " discovered " each other ! I've heard they're now sharing a small cottage just outside Invermoriston, where they spend their days cataloguing their extensive Programme collection, drinking White Zinfandel and walking their two Cockapoos, Elton & David !! Good for them .... 😉
