At what point do we stop seeing a player as a midfielder Mulgrew has played the vast chunk of his career as a center back and plays there at international level. Lenihan was a defencive midfielder coming through our youth team but since he broke into the team has been playing at cb I'd argue that's his position now if you don't agree the Rodwell was a cb coming through Evertons youth and moved into midfield in the first team so does that make him a cb?

I think in some cases the loan fee increases if they don't play as well say you pay 25% of his wages/fee if he plays x amount compared to 50% if he does not play at all making it sensible to let him be recalled if the opposition so desire.

To be fair we will only know if a player is a dud when he leaves the club sometimes bringing a player along slowly when he's ready to play helps in the long run.

Not saying we should looking to sell but you never know what could happen if we where to it could force a change in shape where we buy two actual wingers and move say a Brereton or an Armstrong up top with Graham perhaps getting the best from one of those. I think what vinjay is hunting at is under the ffp rules as they stand Jack would have not been allowed to invest in Rovers the way he did. Its a tough issue but I'm not a fan of the system myself Under FFP an owner like Jack would be curtailed in his ambitious but owners like the Oystons are fine.

We keep going on about pacy wingers but it would seem to me TM likes to play strikers out wide cutting in to give goal threats.

We play with one striker and have Armstrong Graham Nuttall possibly Dack would work as a false 9 and Brereton looks like he's on the way. Where as smallwood does not look up to it and Reed is an upgrade on him so it's a good one.

Not really Reed improves our starting 11 as he's better than we currently have so it's in no way questionable.

Not if you structure the loan to be permanent in Jan often a club has a number they accept for players it's about meeting it.

Thats just not true if you meet the valuation of a player they will accept payment which ever way it comes it's often taken out of the hands of managers if a club meets the valuation of a player.

So far until the loan window closes he could sign anyone.

If we are arguing you could say that Davenport played well at a higher level than Nolan ever has whilst he is 19 and Nolan is 26.

But it would not just be a loan would it you would pay a loan fee of what ever price and then the rest of the first part of the fee in Jan to make it permanent
