  1. Might be a bit longer than the 12/1 odds of yesterday around 2pm. Currently 16/1 on William Hill.
  2. Recently heard someone suggest the home shirt be changed to black/white halves for one season as a "inter racial" marketing move. Thought my ideas were radical...
  3. Bolton 12/1 to win tomorrow. Too short?
  4. More wrestling events at football stadiums recently (and upcoming) with Norwich getting an outdoor crowd of over 4,000 a few months ago. Mainly because of Grant Holt's new career direction. Sheffield United hosted an evening with Mick Foley and now ROH have booked a show at the Bolton Whites hotel. I believe that has also hosted Darts events and maybe boxing. One of the UK independent companies (Defiant formerly WCPW) announced it's closure earlier today.
  5. Some people have even referred to the "Republic of Liverpool". Not sure they are in the topic debate either!
  6. Matthews made more appearances for Blackpool. Can remember asking on another forum some time back why Douglas didn't get as much attention as Matthews/Finney... "Regarding Matthews and Finney and why they gained more publicity. Matthews was possibly the best one position footballer England has produced and probably the first footballer to endorse various products. Yes he did have a final named after him when Stan Mortenson scored a hat trick. Now to Finney, if there was only one player in the world who I could sign it would be him. He played in every forward position for PNE and several for England. He could dribble, head, shoot tackle and it took years to work out which was his natural foot. He was simply the best and was rightly acclaimed."
  7. Not to mention he had a decent effort near the end of extra time. Bizarre really for someone of his reputation but even Pele missed an open goal once. Look at what he does to this goalkeeper though so he still manages to look great and miss an open goal at the same time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UzRsvCsC4c
  8. Christian Eriksen's penalty for Tottenham just now...awful!
  9. ...and I'm sure you're aware he's also an ex Blackburn Rovers player.
  10. How on earth can anyone forget that Wolves game. Most ridiculous decision was keeping Lowe one while needing a goal and then he takes him off 1-0 up v Villa! He does not hide his weaknesses and his strengths won't outweigh them. Not for a serious promotion challenge.
  11. This idiot Bassini can't have helped with his distractions and threats of legal action. He was also claiming West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan had lent him 25 million recently.
  12. Well Kidd was a disaster but I can't remember him dropping Duff. Maybe you're right. There's no "maybe" about Dunn's transfer request though it was under Parkes.
  13. Well yes Jones was on my mind. If Buckley is as good as Duff how long do you expect him to stay? Club got 6 years out of Duff because Jack was around and then Abramovich showed up. If Buckley is as good there's little point getting excited if he's sold to the first bidder after 5 mins. That's the point being made.
  14. Depends how much his bint wife has spent. Are you sure? He was player of the season that year and that includes the 3 months Kidd was around. Dunn handed in a transfer request (while Parkes was caretaker) can't ever recall Duff handing in one.
  15. There were 6 minutes of added time (first half) during the CSKA Moscow v Lokomotiv Moscow game on Monday. That's because it took so long to make a penalty decision. I don't agree with anything technological perhaps aside from an earpiece (for communication with assistants only) in football. It's just another way of watering things down. Are people that weak minded that they can't take an incorrect decision at a football game anymore? I said there would be a backlash to the use of VAR and that's exactly what's happened. Where's the Unabomber when you need him? ?
  16. Possible difference is Duff wasn't sold after 5 minutes.
  17. Considering Leslie's last few years in management not much of a loss.
  18. ...and then the trust went to the family who said no.
  19. Some of the badges seem to have different palettes, etc. Like this one due to expire in 2026. https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00002108303
  20. There's quite a few results containing the word Rovers from "Roy of the Rovers" to a dentist with a Netherlands address. Presumably it would have to be trademarked under category of football products and services. "One Rovers" is still trademarked with renewal in 2028. "Blackburn Rovers FC" says EXPIRED. https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/4/EU007239437 Also what appears to be the badge trademark...EXPIRED. https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/4/EU007240096 EDIT- Another here with an image of the badge says due for renewal in 2025. https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00002013394
  21. Asked Alan Myers if he ever heard anyone bring it up. Answer was no but there were 2,404 issues to worry about which I have interpreted as typical day working for the Raos lol. Did point out will be easier than trademarking Liverpool would be.
  22. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/liverpool-fc-trademark-klopp-sporting-lisbon-new-york-a9020656.html Back on the subject of trademarks Liverpool FC have attempted to trademark the word Liverpool. At least in the context of football products and services. This sounds silly perhaps but the same article says Southampton and Chelsea did the same thing. What is the trademark status of the word Rovers? Something to ask at the next fans forum or sooner perhaps?
  23. ...and probably his best quote "there is nothing more infinite than human stupidity". How do you think Einstein would handle the current situation then? I see Nuno Santo was saying football in the EPL would change hugely within a couple of years. Would Einstein come up with some new theoretical formation that bamboozles opponents or a genius new strategy? It's all very hypothetical of course but...
  24. He's another dolt who called Jack Walker a racist. Back on Accrington's Dolt. Rovers should encourage Nuttall to play as badly as possible as revenge for the Jack insult. As Jacob Rees Mogg put it "the man of the people act is the height of condescension". Do have to point out that being on Twitter gets his club more attention. More chairmen should be on Twitter. If it's good enough for Presidents and Prime Ministers it's good enough for football club owners and chairmen, etc. Of course at this club Alan Myers did it for a while and he's one of the better administrators, PR, etc hired by the Raos.
