I thought he was excellent. Popped up all over the place. -
Not quite, the train was stopped and delayed till after the kick off, which provided a lot clearer escort for the police from Burnley Barracks down to the turf, undoubtedly pre planned by the police. From memory I'd say the Rishton one was 2000/2001 the 5-0 game.

Got to be one of the best posters on this forum Tyrone, makes me feel as though I was there although some 20 years before I was born. -

What I don't get is the delay in announcing. Decision will already have been made, why wait till noon. -

Mowbray, the summer and beyond
Songman replied to TheRovers1994's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The man has a seriously low opinion of our supporters that much is evident. Doesn't even bother himself with a token clap to the away end, combine that with repeatedly insulting our intelligence and enough is enough. Mowbray out. -

Probably swings and roundabouts. Would have been a pen against us for North End for sure, handball by Nyambe I think it was. -

I was told by a member of the groundstaff at approx 1405 that a) Mowbray wanted the game off over concerns as to the long term damage of the pitch b) Unsurprisingly Rowett wanted it on c) The pitch was better than both the Preston and Hudds games and therefore well playable. -

Probably not the right place for the debate but wow that's harsh on Bradley Johnson. -
He was given a lesson in the dark arts of forward play by the slightly smaller (according to google) Tom Eaves.

The ref got plenty wrong, but the Buckley tackle was one of the clearer yellows you will see.
-
If it was the other way round and Barnsley had scored and goal been given this forum would have been in uproar. Just one of those rare incidents. Poor - yes. Wrong - no. As you say down to the referees interpretation of the seriousness of injury, which is hard to judge.
-
There's a lot of things from Rugby that football could benefit from in my opinion - none more so than refs mic'd up for everyone to hear.
-
-
Yeah mate very hard to judge barring the obvious but that's the guidance given at the moment to referees. Yes it's open to abuse as it looks like happened on this occasion.
-
Play should be stopped if the referee suspects a serious injury or a head injury. As you know yourself when you have a split second to decide if its a head injury or not it's best from a referees view to lean on the side of caution. Frustrating for fans but from the referees point of view it's better to disallow the goal than allow it and then the player is carried off with a head injury. Hope your well and had a good Xmas.
-
Im also a qualified referee, the latest guidance is to stop the game for a serious injury or a head injury (no matter how serious) however I agree with you it's about when he blew the whistle and how audible the whistle was, but he was perfectly within his rights to stop the game the second he suspected a head injury, no matter how serious.
-
If its a head injury you stop the game immediately as a referee, so I'm not sure he blew to quickly is an excuse. There's no advantage to be played from a head injury. I didn't see the actual incident due to a toilet trip with a nagging child, but the minute a player is holding his head the referee should stop the game.
