  1. The last 11 games: Three wins. 11 points. 9 goals scored, 11 allowed. We were 8th on the table, just a win away from playoff place. Now, we’re 12th, but playoffs is a distant dream, 10 points away now. I refuse to feel sorry for Tony. Since December 19, 4 players have returned to the lineup after long term injuries. Three other players have come into the first team that he hand-picked. He’s been paid well to manage Rovers to win games. Its not working. We’re frustrated, hes frustrated, too. But he’s paid to do the job. It’s not getting done. Time to move on, and give someone else a try.
  2. Managers ALWAYS think they can figure things out. Mowbray is as much of a Mr Fixit as anybody.
  3. It’s just a mess. Mowbray cannot figure it out, God bless him, he’s got to be frustrated. But, the fact he can’t figure it out, means it’s time to move on. Anybody could go 0 for 4. it’s (past) time for a change.
  4. Fourth lost in a row, to teams all below us on the table. terrible
  5. I’m afraid that’s it...we’ve had 60% possession, 4 shots on target, a missed ok, etc One only get so many opportunities to make good...
  6. I appreciate Dolan coming on... nothing from 60% poss so far
  7. Taylor will give them more pace; but I was hoping for a 2nd yellow from Murray
  8. Cardiff solves nobbers defence quite early, no surprise there
  9. Alrighty we’re all ready for this... let the fun begin!
  10. I can hear it now...H-B and JB, chasing shadows to yakety sax/Benny Hill theme. Script: Rovers concede a breakaway at 5’, score on a phantom penalty just before halftime, then lose on a counter at 90+2. But, we have 60% possession. take that, Forest!!
  11. I said it earlier in the week, I will say it again... what a weird lineup. I suppose eventually, we will win with one of these concoctions/mad scientist delusions of grandeur, and some will marvel at TM’s sagacity. However, I’m not seeing it today.
  12. The cumulative evidence of 3 losses demonstrates incompetence, when he’s got his main players back from injury, and his transfers/loaners aren’t difference-makers. I'm not expecting much today- other than good effort from the players selected. I always expect that. But I anticipate whatever effort is put forth, won’t be enough.
  13. Trybull, Johnson, Holtby, JR-C, Ayala, Wharton, Williams all out.
  14. Meanwhile, U23’s properly dispatch WHU, 4-1. McBride with a brace. We have to feel good about Barr, his players, & the job he’s done!
  15. absolutely, he must start Elliott.
  16. The shame of it is, at their age Lyle Taylor & Lewis Grabban probably couldn’t make our 11, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see either player get the game-winner. I’d like to see us get an early goal, scrap & hustle on defense, and see some energy going forward, in lieu of hoof ball and loads of backwards passes. 2-1.
  17. I always hope for a Rovers win, alas, I’m not expecting one at Forest. As with our last three opponents, we could & should beat them. They are sitting 18th on the table, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see them catch up to us in a couple of weeks. Things to get worse, before they get better, I’m afraid. Cant wait to see the 11 Mowbray throws out on the pitch... Moe, Larry & Curly could be announced as forwards, and I wouldn’t be surprised.
  18. I want to believe what you say here. I fervently hope this is true.
  19. Not mathematically; we’re 10 points out. it could happen, we all know it won’t.
  20. I came into Rovers fandom when Bowyer was hired full-time. I looked up Appleton’s record, he was 2-4-5 at Rovers... not bad, but everyone was scared to death of dropping to League 1. All this is guesswork of course; Mowbray won’t last forever, but I expect him to survive the season. I fully expect us to get “hot” when playoff spot is out the question, and the season is for all intents over, and he’s safe for the offseason.
  21. I know he’s probably hated here, but Appleton doing a fantastic job at Lincoln City. In all likelihood, they will be promoted to Championship. Another former Rovers’ coach, Darren Moore, has Doncaster in the playoff places. I still think if the owners want promotion, they need to make Benitez an offer. He wasn’t afraid to manage Newcastle when they were in the Championship. I would prefer any of these three over the usual cast of characters who surface when any job is mentioned.
  22. Yes, & I understand your reasons well. And, if things go wrong under him, we never want to fire the “golden boy”. But if he has the desire & the quality to return to his club, it still might be advantageous to look at him. I like what I’m reading about Paul Cook. he would surely make the short list.
  23. I haven’t seen his name (& do not desire to read the whole thread), but how about Tugay? He has coaching/managerial experience at Galatasaray.
  24. I’ve also defended him all along. I’m not going to try to talk you into anything, just look at our squad, those who have returned to fitness, and the wacky selection of the starting 11 after our two previous defeats. Omitting Nyambe was shocking; but starting Bennett, & subbing Evans, unfortunate. No doubt this team is underperforming, and have been huge underachievers about a year and a half. I don’t blame Mowbray for everything, but I can blame him for selection, formation, and his lack of passion. He just appears disinterested & sullen. Someone new might motivate our better players to perform better.
