  1. Batty has only just turned 20, so fancy he will get an extension and another loan Has by all accounts played well when fit, but has had 3 separate spells out injured, so maybe a loan to a team at the top end of League 2? with an eye to maybe trying him out in League 1 in the 2nd half of next season? It doesn't seem a difficult contract to get signed in my eyes
  2. Purely looking at transfer fees, we spent around £3M in the summer, and a further £1M in January. There may well have been loan fees also, so possibly a further £0.5-£1M depending upon how well/badly they negotiated for the likes of Dennis, Baker etc To my recollection Gueye was just over £1M Toth was just under £1M Cantwell was circa £0.5M Ohashi was circa £0.25M (going by Elliott Jacksons quote that his fee was low 6 figures) Aiden Doherty was also signed for the U21s for circa £0.1M Kargbo was circa £1M So £4M - £5M over the course of the season sounds about right to me Edit - given the money brought in over the past 12/18 months. it should obviously have been a substantially higher amount. The sales of Wahlstedt & Gallagher effectively funded Ohashi, Gueye & Toth before we even consider the Wharton & Szmodics fees, & Raya sell on.
  3. Higgins & Eze both started for the U18s today as they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 away at Nottingham Forest. Leatherbarrow with both goals for Rovers Hopefully that means good news on their contracts?
  4. I want to see what happens when we still refuse to renew contracts and still do a rebuild despite fluking a promotion. Because as Gestede said, income has no bearing on our budget.
  5. yep, could do with Boro getting something against Norwich today to keep them interested next week, whilst Millwall hopefully fail to win against Swansea today which sees them drop out of the race
  6. Starts this weekend for O'Riordan - lost 2-0 - result ends play off hopes Olson - lost 6-1 - scored an own goal - leaves their play off hopes hanging by a thread Eastham - lost 5-1 - final game of league season, had already finished 6th & qualified for playoffs Wood - drew 1-1 - final game of league season - finished 11th Honor - won 3-1 - final game of league season - finished 15th (I think they were in the relegation spots when he signed for them) On the bench Markanday - won 1-0 - result keeps them 6th with 1 game to go Batty - won 1-0 - on the bench after returning from injury - result confirms they will not be relegated Garrett - won 2-0 - result confirms they will not be relegated Goddard - lost 2-0 - already confirmed as relegated in March Saadi - lost 2-1 - game played on Monday, 5pm kick off Not involved in matchday squad Vale - won 3-2 - currently injured Duru - drew 3-3 - currently injured Powell - lost 6-1 - leaves their play off hopes hanging by a thread Barrett - won 5-1 - final game of league season - finished 12th No game this weekend Mafoumbi - season looks to have finished Play on Tuesday - I am away on Tuesday, so will not update this one until Wednesday Eastham - score/update - play off semi final (as far as I can tell, this is decided on the day rather than being over 2 legs)
  7. A site which rates Dolan at £6M with 2 months left on his contract
  8. Off the top of my head, teenagers that Spurs signed for similar or more In the past 12 months Archie Gray Wilson Odaoert Lucas Bergvall Mason Melia Yang A quick google shows that large amounts were also spent on Veliz, Sarr, Udogie, Sessegnon, Jack Clarke, , all within the past 5 years, and limiting it to teenagers only
  9. The extra £4M was the add on's (these would be based on club & ,international appearances etc) Not to be confused with the sell on clause. Which will be a predetermined % of any profit made when Palace sell him
  10. He also stated that how much money was brought in (specifically from the Wharton & Szmodics deals) had no impact on the seasonal budget. So if you were to take him at face value, why would he bother asking? Even if we had a 50% sell on and Wharton is sold this summer for a world record fee (hyperbolic numbers to indicate how ludicrous this is), it still wouldn't impact transfer budgets or wage budgets according to Gestede . Mental if true! if he was a credible appointment, then that would have sent warning bells ringing for him straight away
  11. If he isn't doing charity work, his wages will be out of our price range If he is doing charity work at basket case clubs with no money, he is a Sheff Wed fan
  12. I suppose that 1 - there is competition for his signature 2 - because of 1, it would require a significant wage increase rather than the same/similar terms 3 - because of 2, he is off in the summer unless a miracle occurs and promotion is achieved 4 - for those about to type, "but he isn't Premier League quality!" Do you really think that we will start spending huge amounts of cash if we are promoted?
  13. Nothing close, & no contract talks until the end of the season (I am assuming this relates only to first team players rather than U21s etc) https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25111940.blackburn-contract-latest-summer-transfer-power-dynamic/ Ah well, at least they will know what division they will be in by then 😉
  14. Different rules in League 1, which Birmingham are operating under this season (based on income rather than profit/loss) & taking full advantage. Gambling on promotion to the Prem next season before Championship profit & sustainability rules catch up with them, & if they fail, then they have some expensive young talent on long contracts to sell to balance the books
  15. It is crazy money, but players who are good Championship performers (Travis, Tronstad, Brittan) or have high potential/sell on possibilities (such as Poku, and you could even argue Dolan to the extent that they are similar ages and Dolan has been around for longer at a higher level) can command over £20K/week from Championship clubs (at least the ones with the funds and ambition to do so)
  16. I think we are safe in this case, the model of half a squad full of cheap academy lads doesn't leave space for aging players on high wages. The only older players we will get are those still scratching around for a club in August (and therefore with no pre season behind them), and willing to accept wages of under £10K/week
  17. The video I linked should start at that particular question & answer Obviously its worth watching the whole thing to get your expectations fixed nice and low for next season
  18. How many from the academy will be in the 25 man squad next season? 7 or 8 apparently, which includes 2 that have played in the past couple of weeks (Tyjon & Montgomery) So that would imply that the 7 or 8 includes only those who are currently part of the academy (ie not including Travis, Carter, Buckley, JRC, Wharton) Also 1 in each position, so by a process of deduction, the following players will be in the first team squad next season unless we are also counting Leonard, Garrett etc as "academy players"?) GK - Michalski CB - Atcheson or Litherland LB - Batty or Powell RB - Duru CM - Montgomery or Dunn W - Gilsenan maybe? S - Tyjon
  19. U18s got demolished 7-2 by Sunderland this afternoon
  20. The likelihood is that Markanday will be talked up as his replacement, being like a new signing etc. At least until Chesterfield make an "unbelievable" offer for him that they couldn't turn down in the final hours of the summer window, leaving no time to source a replacement
  21. Ajayi, Swift & Diangana will be leaving West Brom on frees in the summer Before anyone gets excited, this is because West Brom cannot afford to pay them what they want, so Rovers certainly will not be signing any of them
  22. If this is correct (I have no idea if it is), then the same agency also represents Weimann and Forshaw, so if the agents visit had anything to do with a contract, it could have just as easily been one of the others Also according to the same source, Brereton-Diaz also has the same agent, so Dolan quite possibly may be operating from the same playbook. Brereton never said he was definitely not signing, until he left, same as Dolan looks to be doing
  23. It doesn't. The terms of the option are set in stone when the original contract is signed. I believe what you may be referencing was someone stating that a player in the past got a pay rise when his option was triggered. If this was true, it would have been a a case of either the player having an annual pay rise of x% stated in his contract, or having a pay rise of £X when he hit Y appearances. Again, all of which would have been set in stone with the signing of the contract, no negotiation necessary
