  1. Eze and Olise both gone off injured for Palace, there is no point them buying Wharton if he has no one in the forward positions who he can pass to, deal off 😉
  2. He could "pause" (not the best term as the end date of his contract didn't change, just the enforcement of any terms that were paused) his contract with his Russian club (hence the prior loan moves), and once he got into the last 6 months of that contract, like any player he was free to negotiate a Bosman free. As his contract was paused (so in legality no longer existed), he then moved 6 months earlier to Rovers on a permanent deal for free
  3. Harrison Burrows is a number 10 or wide attacking player, he gets away with playing left back in League 1 in the same way that Siggy and Dolan got away with playing as wing backs last night Ronnie Edwards, is linked with numerous Prem teams Calvin Ramsay is on loan from Liverpool, hardly got a look in on loan at PNE earlier this season Max Bird 23, Derby, will give you that one
  4. and in the one transfer window that he was allowed to spend decent money... Szmodics, Hyam & Brittain
  5. We get it when the permeant deal goes through, which looks like being the summer
  6. Only chance of doing so is being a recently relegated Prem (and therefore moneyed up) team who is geared up for automatic promotion (ie Leicester with Dewsberry-Hall)
  7. It all depends on if and how the money is reinvested. Brentford showed how this should be done, Its now a case of seeing if Broughton can (and is allowed to) follow the blueprint https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-brentford/rekordabgaenge/verein/1148
  8. Whichever one it is, he is terrible Chair (more a 10 than a CM) and Willock (wide player) are QPRs better players. They certainly do not have any CMs worth having
  9. Could depend on how the deal is structured. How much up front, how much in add ons (and when are they triggered etc) sell on fees etc. Would we take £25M for Adam Wharton? Probably. Would we take £25M spread over 25 years? Probably not
  10. I think if we are honest with ourselves, most of us (even those who were willing to give Szmodics time) thought that he was a strange signing when we had Dack, and that the money may have been better spent elsewhere. Delighted to have been proven wrong on that
  11. 4-5 weeks https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/january/25/boss-gives-injury-update-on-carter-and-pickering/
  12. They should already be in the automatic positions with the squad they have. But they have Russell Martin as manager, its like starting off the season with a 20 point penalty
  13. Their wage bill was £16.4M in League 1 https://swissramble.substack.com/p/ipswich-town-finances-202122 so you can probably safely add 50-100% onto that for promotion increases and the wages of the new players they brought in this season (Hirst is on something like £15-20K/week for example) For reference, Rovers wage bill in the Championship was only £5M/year higher for the same period, and was also around £16M when we spent the season in League 1 (keep in mind the Rovers only spent 1 season in League one so still had players on higher contracts from their time in League 1, whilst Ipswich built a relatively high wage squad for the division they were in)
  14. Owned by a hedge fund and apparently sell 50,000 shirts due to a sponsorship with Ed Sheeran (which sounds ridiculous) https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12114391/Wrexham-star-riles-Ipswich-fans-comparing-Ed-Sheeran-Rob-McElhenney-Ryan-Reynolds.html Apparently they posted a loss of £12.6M in their last accounts and you would suspect a much bigger amount this season (promotion wage increases, transfers etc), so I suspect they are just going for it and it they do not get promoted this season, they will have to cut their cloth for FFP
  15. Albecete were in the Spanish 2nd division when he signed for them https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/enzo-boyomo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/541555/plus/0?saison=2020&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id= I am assuming you got the 3rd division thing from his wiki bio which states he was originally assigned to their 2nd team (who do play in the Spanish 4th tier). Although he was promoted to the first team very shortly afterwards (similarly to how we originally signed Dolan for the U21s and then promoted him to the first team squad about a month later) and was a first team regular for them (played 30 off games as they were relegated to the 3rd tier) Who knows why he turned down our contract offer? Maybe its because Albecete offered him an easier route to the first team, maybe he just liked the weather better in Spain?
  16. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18538162.seven-rovers-prospects-agree-new-deals---four-offers-unsigned/ Apparently we did and Boyomo declined it , preferring to move to the south of Spain Mental 😉
  17. Polish U20 International. He has not replaced Lewandowski quite yet. And "keeps scoring" may also be a slight exaggeration. 3 goals in 13 games for the U21s (granted he has been more prolific in the U18s) https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/junior-nsangou/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/936903/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB21&pos=&trainer_id=
  18. Fair comment, I blame a lack of coffee for me not thinking of that lol
  19. Spot on The truth is, we do not want Adam Wharton to move to a "destination club" where he will stay and play for the rest of his career. We may be able to ask for more than 25M if that is the case, but probably not that much more at this stage or in the summer. The ideal scenario is Dortmund, Brighton or similar (Palace will do at a stretch) for £25M and a healthy sell on fee, and then for him to move to a European giant in 2-3 years time for circa £100M
  20. Correct Phillips kept Ben Davies out of the Liverpool team at the time
  21. Pretty sure I remember reading that JDT wasn't even in the running until Broughton was brought in. If that is true then JDT seems to be very much a GB appointment/choice
  22. 5 days Window closes at 11pm on Thursday 1st Feb
