Can only assume its a cheap squad filler due to lack of funds and the hope that his height will help in defending set pieces. Still find it very strange that he has obviously signed a new deal but the club haven't bothered to announce it.

In all fairness, that is because the first team, the U21s and the U18s all play today (so over 40 players in the starting 11s alone across 4 games in under 24 hours... and probably somewhere between 50 & 60 when we include those who get off the bench), and much more important to get everyone minutes than to fill the bench when not all would get on the pitch last night anyway

Yes Promotion clauses are written into contracts that cover EVERY permutation of what division the player may find themselves in during the length of the contract, Generally promotion clauses between League 1 & Championship, and again between the Championship and the Prem generally involve circa 100% wage increases. Their accounts show that even their final season in League 1, Ipswich's wage bill was roughly the same as Rovers wage bill in the Championship at the same time Walton for example was on over £10K/week in League 1, would have been on over £20K/week last season, and now probably £30K-£40K/week
