  1. Just in time for his value to soar this season so that Rovers cant afford to offer him a wage reflective of his ability, take out the option on his contract next summer, and lose him at the end of his contract the year after
  2. Gestede makes communication vow to Blackburn Rovers fans Genuinely not heard anything from him since this quote a month ago, Waggot has taught him very well
  3. And after Park, they have 736 other "heads of....." ready to fall on their swords
  4. Not sure a 26 year old who got 5 goals in the SPL could be our saviour, but it shows what a sorry state the club is in that they cant even get these sort of deals done
  5. I assume you mean this rule about signing players who would not qualify for a work permit? Pretty sure Wahlstedt and Telalovic were brought in on this rule. Not sure about Sigurdsson, but Tronstad did qualify for a work permit as he had played enough games at a good enough level (Eredivisie). Which means we have either 3 or 4 of those spots left depending upon if Sigurdsson takes up a spot, IF Rovers are still looking abroad after the change of the guard in the scouting dept
  6. Yep Just Rovers and Swansea (from the Championship) yet to sign a player for their first team squads now
  7. I can only assume that someone is advising them that they are only one fluke season away from being able to sell a Premier League team for profit (given the money that is now involved at the top level) and be hailed as hero's for returning Rovers to the promised land. Its the only thing that makes even the slightest bit of sense as to why they keep hold of the club no matter how far fetched it may seem to any of us with any common sense Or maybe I am just trying to make sense of the senseless
  8. Are we now just waiting to see who 2024s versions of Wes Brown, Gordon Greer, Tommie Hoban, Jack Byrne and Martin Samuelson are? I can hardly contain my excitement
  9. All 3 were on the football scrapheap and signed for Rovers on free transfers No matter how well Graham did for Rovers (especially alongside Dack), he was a free transfer because Sunderland no longer wanted him
  10. Yes, Not saying this is a good idea, just that this is what seems to be happening. I think, in time, this might work, (Garrett to play attacking midfield) but alongside all the other downsizing, is not a good sign
  11. more and more sure that Garrett is seen by Rovers as the Szmodics replacement (hard working pressing attacking midfielder). Watching the replay of the Accrington game, this was were Garrett was playing, and he also played this role in several cup games and vs West Brom away last season. Fully agree that Fleck is a needless signing
  12. Agree, I don't understand how some can be positive in the face of all the evidence of the past 14 years, but they are more than welcome to those opinions
  13. I hope for the best regarding Rovers, but these days I have very little expectation that those hopes will be realised. At least in the short to medium term and with the current ownership *Just to be clear, I am not having a dig at Chaddy or anyone else here
  14. As he has been offered a contract, Dolan does not leave for free if he moves to another club in England next summer due to his age. If anything, his value will increase on the basis of him having played more games at this level. (The same applies to Gent, and Batty too if he kicks on which at this stage looks unlikely) Gallagher yes, will leave for nothing at the end of the season, As will Hyam, Sigurdsson & Hilton (only including Hilton as he is - as things stand - our 2nd choice GK) Elliott Jackson seems to have missed that Hedges does have a 1 year option (as do Gilsenan, Vale and Markanday) which will no doubt be activated as it is cheaper to do that than it is to get in replacements Personally I think that when a club has to trigger an option on a player who is a regular with the first team squad, it is a sign that the player in question will not be signing a new contract under any circumstances (barring possibly a fluke promotion etc).
  15. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/blackburn-rovers-enter-race-copenhagen-theo-sander-hibernian/ experienced keeper lol 19 years old just back from a big injury 1 senior appearance....in Denmark stiff competition from Hibs Sounds like nonsense... so possibly true with this circus
  16. Hutchinson, and going for Greaves, Delap, Philogene, all similar profiles of player, all done very well in the Championship, all have potential to step up. Might be expensive, but they are owed by a hedge fund, and have Prem money coming to them Walton (yes him) was their reserve keeper last season and on a bigger wage than anyone in Rovers squad
  17. Ipswich look to me like they are doing a Luton but on a much bigger budget. Buy proven Championship players who may be able to step up Probably go down Players who stepped up are sold at a profit, others are kept for a promotion push
  18. can only think its because Delap is bigger, faster and stronger than Cannon

  21. Yes August 20th is the court hearing, it is obviously either a/the barrier to Venkys funding the club, or at the very least a very useful excuse for them (with the next excuse IF the court case does go in Rovers/Venkys favour being "difficulty manoeuvring so late in the window" Maybe the penny is starting to drop with Elliott Jackson, that someone at the club might not have told him the while truth?
  22. You only have to look at Eustaces comments directly relating to McFadzean and Fleck "I think they are still in talks with the club about coming in," To me this translates as a deal was agreed (at least with McFadzean), and then Rovers tried to offer less late in the day resulting in the contract remaining unsigned "I believe John is fit again now. I'm sure he could come and train with us if the boy wants to." Translates as he doesn't want to - Hopefully this is the case enough money has already been wasted on Fleck "Hopefully, we'll have some positive news with them over the next couple of weeks." Translates as Eustace has no idea what is happening and his crossing his fingers and wishing for the best but it seems Eustace would be just as amazed if we signed someone in the next couple of weeks as Mercer would be
