Hi again, Its like groundhog day, another former Rover joining you guys, We still have Jack Vale Stokes available (seeing as you still look a striker light). He scored a cracker against Stockport in the cup the other week (click play below, it should be in the right place) but is firmly behind Gueye and Ohashi (both bought with the Gallagher money with enough change to get Weimann in for free too) in the pecking order here. RE Phillips. He is a centre back, Spurs will probably have it written into the loan agreement that is where he will have to feature Whilst he is fairly mobile, he is a big guy and would likely be exposed at full back (has the pace but maybe not the agility to play full back) but he would not look out of place at centre back at this level alongside an experienced partner/s. Definitely your best former Rovers pick up so far, even if we don't like him for jumping ship last summer

Yes, very aware that JRC moving inside is deliberate, however, whilst I think this can work (once JRC is fully fit) when you have someone to go outside him (Brittain), my comment was in reply to a suggestion that JRC and Weimann played together down the right, which I think would leave us too narrow as I do not think that either of them have the tools to provide the necessary pace/width on the right that Brittain (for his faults) can offer Until JRC is fully fit, I would replace him with Weimann on the right side -

Good! He is not worth 20 odd grand a week, If he was, Rangers would not want rid If Rovers were paying even half of that, they have got a bad deal, about time we took advantage of a "desperate situation" at another club -

I am not sure that in the current tactical set up, that would give enough width, JRC has a tendency to drift inside (to very good effect) rather than stay wide (as does Weimann), which is why I think Brittain will be preferred at right back. -
Tom Atcheson called up for Northern Ireland U21s, (he is still only 17) Bold claim time - Barring injuries (to either himself or other Rovers players necessitating that he is brought back as cover), I think that there is every chance that he goes on loan to a League club in the second half of the season and gets a call up to the full Northern Ireland squad by the end of the season. https://www.irishfa.com/news/2024/august/u21s-squad-for-euro-qualifier-against-england-revealed

Surely the Dingles player of the season last year was the "least bad", rather than "good" 😉 -

Fits the profile of "fast wide player" (dubious decision making/final ball in my opinion, but if he didn't have this "quality" then a Championship move would not be on the cards), But if the reports of £2M and/or Leeds being interested, have any weight to them, then its unlikely at best -

Waggott brings Coyle and Kean back as joint head coaches, with Bradley Orr, Leon Best & Danny Murphy as their coaching team, whilst Anderson replaces Gestede as director of football? -

If that is the case, and with the rather large caveat that Rovers can spend more money on wages/signing fees etc after the court date postponement yesterday, then agreeing an end of contract move on a free (a price even Rovers can afford) is the way to go., His contract expires in January https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryo-germain/profil/spieler/511448 -

Rumours of an attitude problem and crashing his car at high speed whilst off his face on nitrous oxide last Christmas. hence why he didn't play for Ipswich in the second half of last season - allegedly https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/man-utd-brandon-williams-claims-inhaled-laughing-gas-high-speed-car-crash/blt1c94cae5d3c3faa3 -

A couple/few years ago, someone suggested Luke Shaw, which may be one of, if not, the most out there suggestion I have seen on here. -

Elliott - arrived deadline day Reed - arrived couple of day before deadline day Harwood Bellis - arrived deadline day Van Hecke - arrived a couple of days before deadline day Tosin was signed early, but that seems to be very much the exception for good premier league loans -

https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-looking-repeat-transfer-29774243 Iling-Junior could be a great pick up on loan for whoever gets him. Fast young, left footed wide player. I would assume that Villa would ideally want to send him to a higher level than the Championship, and the wages/loan fees would probably rule Rovers out, but if the aim is to get him as much game time as possible.... -

I think the change in how Rovers set up defensively (Brittain playing as a wing back and Pickering staying back to essentially form the left centre back in a back 3) is purposefully being implemented so that your point that I have marked in bold is not an issue (or that is at least the hope/theory of Eustace). And is also likely the reason that a full back (which I think means competition/understudy to Pickering's hybrid LB/LCB position rather than a more attacking LB) has been mentioned as a potential signing rather than center backs. -

Atcheson taken off with a head injury with the game at 0-0. fingers crossed its just a precaution. This seemed to coincide with Marine forgetting how to defend, and they are now 3-0 down (still not half time) -

Tonight's Loanee games Starts for Garrett (Britsol Rovers) Gamble (Fylde) Atcheson & Montgomery (Marine) Honor (Clitheroe) Michalski (Bamber Bridge) Mullarkey-Matthews (Bamber Bridge) & Boggan (Macclesfield) not selected in squads. Markanday rested for Chesterfield with them concentrating on the league apparently. -

Southampton, Hull City, Anderlecht and Celtic have all been touted as potential suitors during this close season. Think that list of suitors would rule us out, but great young player -

Wigan still managed to get "an initial £3.5M + add ons" from Hull for Hughes. so not sure quite how small any fee would be. Plymouth also apparently interested after selling Cooper to Sheff Utd https://the72.co.uk/2024/08/16/hull-city-fee-wigan-athletic-charlie-hughes/ HullLive journalist Baz Cooper has posted on X: “Yes, I’m told that’s correct (the fee). No doubt it will include add-ons etc, but the release clause was in the region of £3.5m. The delay has not been anything to do with the fee.” -
