  1. Unfortunately these "frees" are usually not what it says on the label; players and agents allow contracts to run down so that there will be significant agent and signing on fees when they are out of contract.
  2. I would agree with you Leeds would be attractive and with the parachute payments they could afford to buy out JDT's contract. However Leeds are difficult to read because the US influence on the club could mean just about any kind of manager will be appointed. I think Norwich will give Wagner time; they did give Farke time when he arrived and it took Wagner a while to get things going at Huddersfield.
  3. To be fair to Robins he wasn't given Gyokeres, he signed him.
  4. I will continue to hold the opinion that JDT will not yet be seen to have done well enough to attract Prem interest.
  5. 2 of those are interim managers. Garcia had some record in the Prem as of course did Dyche.
  6. Yes ! And I think what happened afterwards will be fresh in the minds of owners of Prem clubs.
  7. Increasingly the owners take short term views and will judge on recent results.
  8. I think the sort of people who own Prem clubs these days are looking for something better than 7th in the Championship.
  9. Villa weren't in the Prem when they hired Smith. Lampard was hired because he was a chelsea legend.
  10. He could quit - he could not be forced to work - but I doubt he could walk in to another job without compensation.
  11. Do Prem clubs approach managers who have finished 7th in the Championship ?
  12. Alternatively you could say we fell away when it mattered whereas Mark Robins' team did not. I like JDT and want him to stay - I don't think the clubs who can afford millions in hiring the manager are necessarily looking at 7th in the table compared with 8th last season as a convincing reason to hire him.
  13. We've finished seventh in the league. Do clubs with ambition go for that manager over , say, Mark Robins who has finished higher ? (if Coventry don't win the play offs)
  14. Off where, though ? As I wrote above, any new club is probably going to have to compensate us, probably for a couple of million or so.
  15. None of us are admirers of the owners but I suspect that if the manager did want to "walk" to another club they would demand full compensation of his outstanding contract plus those of any staff members who left with him - that is likely to run in to millions.
  16. I think they will know the position from Millwall's desperation.
  17. Before the days of floodlights I think games often kicked off at 2pm on Saturdays, timed to coincide with workers leaving work after working Saturday mornings.
  18. Brighton seem to think he is the better player , and their judgement on players over the last few years has been just about the best around.
  19. The report states that it is a 50% uplift in income for the EFL. If the distribution of funds is retained in its present proportions that would suggest an increase in income of approx £4.5m for the club.
  20. The website whoscored.com has Pedro as comfortably the best player this season in the Championship. Brighton are not noted for getting it wrong in the transfer market.
