  1. You will probably know more than me on this subject but doesn't the forthcoming new Act require (1) the club meet on a regular basis with a representative group of supporters and (2) "explain" ( but not necessarily gain fan approval) of the club's organisation and strategy ?
  2. Yes - practically identical returns and from memory Bowyer and Lambert had very similar numbers too.
  3. Simply not true. Off the top of my head , a couple of years ago we had an FA Cup win at Leicester, a League Cup win at West Ham, not to mention an FA Cup win at Arsenal under Gary Bowyer.
  4. Wasn't there a report that he was asked to play a U21 game and refused ? If so the player is the issue.
  5. It's only February but this is the best post of the year.
  6. The £40m is clearly being used to cover operating costs rather than being reinvested. Is the supposed interest in Armstrong a loan deal or a purchase ?
  7. According to some websites his current wages are £60,000 a week. Do you really think we are going to match that ?
  8. It's not the club's fault if he can't be loaned out because he's injured.
  9. He was playing at a very low level of non league football - albeit scoring a lot of goals. He's got an unusual background - first came to this country aged 16 to represent the Ivory Coast in the Homeless World Cup, stating that he was homeless after being kicked out by his mother after coming out as gay. Subsequently he has fathered a child.
  10. Our decisions in recent years regarding managerial appointments have clearly been better than Hull's. That doesn't leave me rattled in the slightest - but thanks for your concern for my welfare.
  11. Asset stripping is where those responsible enrich themselves. Selling players to make sure the bills are paid is not the same thing.
  12. So we are better at decision making then.
  13. They've put in around £200m .How on earth are they "asset stripping" ?
  14. So why are Hull 19th in the table and we are 7th ?
  15. That is clearly not what I have said. What do you propose ?
  16. It's pre-planning. Get the concerned supporters ready to roll for when the fans group is put in place.
  17. The mechanics are yet to be disclosed so I would need to be a clairvoyant to have an idea what they are. Anarchy has not worked at Reading so why anybody would think it would work here puzzles me especially when a due process is being put in place.
  18. We don't yet know precisely how this is going to work. But it is part of a statutory process which may or may not allow access to the office of the Independent Regulator which in turn may lead to something. All rather vague at the moment I know but getting concerned supporters in the room cannot be a bad thing - with a statutory process in place the authorities will expect supporters to make use of it if they have concerns.
  19. 1. First I wouldn't make things worse. I can't see the owners divesting themselves of ownership because of a few tennis balls. Any criminal behaviour by supporters would reduce the likelihood of the authorities intervening on the supporters' side. The most concerted series of actions against an owner have taken place at Reading but the owner concerned is still there which does demonstrate the very limited likelihood of protests achieving anything. 2. The most likely source of moving the owners on is in India, by Indians instigated by Indians. Because of the UK's past colonial relationship with India a bunch of Englishmen trying to tell the Indians that they've got it all wrong will only lead to improving levels of support for Venky's in India. 3. The Football Governance Bill is currently passing through Parliament. It includes a requirement that the club meet on a regular basis with a representative group of fans. Precisely how the new Regulator will expect this to work is not yet clear but my one positive suggestion on this matter is that those supporters on this messageboard who want something done should put themselves forward to be in that representative group.
  20. You ought to be aware that the Oystons forfeited control at Blackpool as a consequence of losing a court case; it had nothing to do with the longstanding fans protests.
  21. If you think that people are going to put in significant outside capital and then settle for "the fans" to effectively decide how it is spent you are naive in the extreme. The German model developed as a result of the historic "sporting club" concept in Germany, usually attached to large companies and has not been adopted anywhere else.
  22. If that did happen obviously it was totally wrong and should have been reported to the police
  23. It's not an agenda to see that the club does not benefit if hotheads start doing stupid things.
  24. Hopefully they don't happen at Ewood Park anymore. On one of my rare visits to the ground in the 1970s I remember Laurie Cunningham being subjected to appalling abuse.
