  1. I don't want to set up a Hyam v Wharton argument - both are excellent at this level - Hyam has a record of 24 points from 13 games which is also excellent.
  2. If the budget was , say, £500k , how likely do you think it is that the players you have described were out there ?
  3. And I said we should keep picking players who deliver results.
  4. It depends whether you think posts on this topic should be based around wishlists - regardless of budget- or reality, where the budget available to those making recruitment decisions drives those decisions.
  5. Given the open nature of the division, I suspect that will be true of the majority of teams.
  6. It's a results business and Scott Wharton has delivered the results. You are entitled to your opinion but dropping a guy who has proven to have such a positive effect on our results is, in my opinion, madness.
  7. We've got 27 points from the 12 Championship games that Wharton has played which means we've got 6 points from the 7 points that he hasn't - so I think his place should be secure.
  8. Szmodics didn't look absolutely awful when he scored on Saturday.
  9. One of the best posts ever on this forum.
  10. Another great win. In a league where there is not much between the teams, getting these wins by one goal margins is likely to be what counts at the end of the season.
  11. Yes.xG is the same for the environment for every player. Thus a penalty has an xG of 0.74 goals, regardless of whether it is Ivan Toney or Diana Ross taking it.
  12. The division is wide open and there will be a lot of clubs thinking that this could be their year. We are certainly entitled to believe that we have a decent shout at being in the top 2. Ultimately I suspect that having a reasonable degree of luck with injuries will determine what happens. I would say that the Big Four for us who would be difficult to replace are Kaminski, Hyam, Morton and Brereton Diaz, so let's hope they stay fit. If there is a club who will pull away from the others at the top I think it could be Burnley who have good squad depth.
  13. Irrelevant. It's a question of principle. The likes of Ferguson, Shankly, Dalglish, Clough demanded that players signed up to the principle that players subordinated their personal interests and ambitions to those of the team, regardless of whether there was some argument that the player could do something. If we are to succeed this season we have to proceed on that basis - which I sincerely hope Bradley Dack will do.
  14. Or maybe the manager and his team are working their arses off for the club, see the league table with us in a position that gets automatic promotion, and demand that every single player signs up to the way that things are being done, and don't accept those who think that their 15 mins is in some way important.
  15. So why the bust up with our manager then ? Pathetic
  16. I'd require every player to buy in to the principle that the team comes ahead of personal ambition.
  17. He gets the best results for the team by making sure that everyone buys in to the principle that the team comes first ahead of individual ambitions.
  18. What exactly do fans want from the matchday experience ?
  19. Alternatively the manager rightly regards football as a team game in which everybody pulls together with the attitude that you win and lose as a team and that prima donnas who want to put themselves first should knuckle down the same as everyone else. Something similar is going on at Manchester United.
  20. Nice payoff though, and he won't have any difficulty getting a Championship job, or one of the stronger Division 1 clubs
  21. Wishing injury on a player is disgusting.
  22. Unlike the fans, the man who counts gets to see and assess him in training before the game.
