  1. Isn't there enough hatred in the world without absurdly feeling it for a football manager who clearly has not earned it.
  2. I've no intention of insulting you because you are capable of very sensible posts - but you need to put this insane hatred of Tony Mowbray to one side as it is affecting your judgement. Evidence ? Well, only the last 10 and a half years.
  3. Garbage. If you think that the situation now bears any resemblance to the way the club was run before Venkys turned up then you are deluded.
  4. This is nonsense. The reason we don't get deals over the line is because everything has to be referred back to India and either they move at a snail's pace or start interfering. Nothing to do with Venus. All roads lead back to Venkys sadly.
  5. Rovers XI come from 4-1 down to win 5-4 at AFC Darwen
  6. You can get an idea of how things are going by looking at the share issues by Venkys London as historically that is how the club has been funded. Interestingly the increase in the share capital between January 2020 and May 2021 has been "only" in the region of £22m whereas I would have expected more given the loss of income. Either there has been some reduction in the cost base or an increase in external borrowing or some bills have not been paid.
  7. Thanks. Yes there is , although of course those accounts show the position of just over a year ago. The government did provide for deferrals for businesses in paying taxes like VAT as a result of COVID so presumably the considerable increase in the number reflects that. I would like to think that Venkys would make sure that the club does meet its tax liabilities rather than make it conditional on transfer sale receipts.
  8. The deferral of wages - as opposed to a waiver- would not be reflected in the charge to profit and loss account as the liability for the wages still exists and so is required to be charged to the accounts in the period in which it arises rather than when it is eventually paid.
  9. I would like to know what tax liability will be cleared as a consequence of a receipt on the sale of Armstrong.
  10. How much money will the manager - whoever it is - have to spend? Who do you get if it is a nugatory amount ?
  11. If Barnsley are so efficient why did they let the contract of their best player Mowatt run down so that he has left without a fee ?
  12. A rewriting of history there. The overwhelming view on this board on his signing was that it was a good one.
  13. I think this is not new money. The money comes from India via a share issue by Venkys London and then put in the club as a loan. What has happened today is that part of the loan has been converted to share capital. This last happened in December 2015. No idea why they have done it but at least the balance sheet of the club will look better.
  14. It seems a bit silly to say we don't give our youngsters a chance when we have just won an award for playing more home grown players than any other club in the division.
  15. I was all ready to post my report on the manager until I read what you said regarding his departure so thought it best to wait. Obviously, trusting your good self is not a mistake I should make again. Regarding the season just finished clearly a big disappointment. Despite what some have said, there was improvement on the defensive side of things - 54 conceded compared with 63 and 69 in the previous seasons. Problems arose though with scoring when the opposition set themselves up to be difficult to play against - either when the game was goal less or they were a goal ahead. Whilst we had a superb record when scoring the first goal - almost always going on to win the game - if we didn't get it we found it difficult and that happened far too often. I put that down to the possession style of play that was adopted. The manager clearly does have responsibilty for that decision and the often poor execution of that style - endlessly passing the ball in short and backward passes is not what it is supposed to be. Mowbray is one of the older breed of managers and I am not sure he and his staff really understand how to implement this style. It reminds me of the middle aged dad trying to dance to hip hop music at his teenage daughter's party - he thinks he knows all the moves but doesn't quite get it right. What to do now ? My answer depends on the budget that will be available. If there is a significant budget then I would want Mowbray moved on and "someone else" brought in. However even if Armstrong is sold I suspect the budget will be limited and in those circumstances I can't see any point spending money getting rid of the manager and his team; I can't see the likes of Wilder etc being attracted to a club with limited resources in the transfer market, and that's before we get on to the idiotic owners.
  16. We are going to see them all back in the Championship next season where they belong. The days of "Warnock gets you in the playoffs at least " are over.
  17. Hang on. Wasn't it you and one or two other "experts" who told us that you had been told that would have happened by now ?
  18. I have consistently said that posters on here significantly overestimate the appeal of the Rovers job to in demand managers like Cowley as long as the present owners are in situ.
