It is loaded on the club, I'm afraid. The most recent published set of accounts - as at 30 June 2021- showed an amount of £130m owed by the club to Venkys London Limited.

It's worth pointing out that in addition to the numbers you quote you have to add on Employers National Insurance - now 15.05% - plus any premiums for insurance that the club take out for players wages if they get injured. That takes the annual cost for the £10k per week over £600k.

Based on his CV Broughton looks like a good appointment - his approach should fit well with a club that has to rely on its academy for players.

I am several hundred miles from Blackburn so am out of the loop but given that next season starts in just over 3 months time I would have expected that if the various works that were mooted were to be carried out then contracts would have been signed by now - yet there has not been a word. I think it looks like people have been put away. More generally, over the years practically none of the claimed inside information scoops that have appeared on here have been borne out by events. I think the reason is simply that every decision of significance is taken thousands of mile away in India - and nobody at Ewood Park really knows what is going to happen - let alone the people they are supposedly leaking to.

Per their accounts Brentford's wage bill for last season was £41.44m. However that included costs of £11.95m in bonuses for achieving promotion to the Premier League. Take that away and they would be below the clubs you refer to.

To me it does need explaining so please could you do so. TV and media money for us was £8.91m and for Preston was £8.89m.

I think you are a bit harsh on the club's efforts regarding income from commercial sources. The accounts show commercial income of £4.79m; the most obviously comparable club to us for last year in terms of division, location and size of town would be Preston whose accounts show commercial income of just under £1.2m. Whilst no doubt there is always going to be room for improvement I would like someone to provide an example of a club whose accounts for last year show a demonstrably better performance in this area, taking in to account location and size of population. How does the club not have"proper sponsorship" ? We are in a time when corporate budgets are coming under considerable pressure from rising costs. Sadly that will lead to cutbacks in certain areas and I suspect that sponsorship and involvement with Championship level football clubs will be near the top of the list.

Tremendous win in the circumstances. Credit to Tony Mowbray for what was clearly an inspirational half time team talk which coupled with the astute substitutions turned it around. Also to Sam Gallagher who thoroughly deserved his goal after his performance - I think that moment when he closed the keeper down set the tone for what happened.

Probably only Ben Brereton is of interest to Premier League clubs. However this is an issue generally across the Championship with very few players likely to attract attention from the Premier League. I had a look at the moves in the January transfer window; a player moved from Derby to Crystal Palace but I think that is to their Under 23 squad. As far as I can tell there was not a single Championship player that moved to a Premier League squad which is a telling indication of the perceived gulf in standards.

But surely the player has the right to subsequently change their mind as anybody who has accepted a job offer from a potential future employer can ? To do a deal like this would mean agreeing with the player terms for playing in the Premier League when we have not had an opportunity to see if we like him - a deal to avoid for me.

How does an obligation to buy work ? The player is not a piece of meat and cannot be forced to sign for a new club if he doesn't want to.

First of all, apologies, you are absolutely right in that Bob Crompton is ahead of Mowbray with 116 wins from 255 games, albeit some of those wins will be in comparatively meaningless games in World War 2. Crompton died literally on the job, having a heart attack watching a win over Burnley in 1941. The only other manager with more games than Mowbray is Bobby Saxton with 93 wins from 257 games. My reference to Kendall was designed to emphasise his greatness as a manager; along with Dalglish,Middleton and Mitchell he is one of the four greatest managers in the history of the club - although I do recall you wanting Middleton fired for picking Bob Crompton at right back ahead of Ryan Nyambe..............

Dalglish had 103 wins from 196 games. Mowbray has 104 wins from 249 games. Managers ahead of Mowbray for wins are : Robert Middleton 238 wins from 605 games Thomas Mitchell 127 wins from 263 games Johnny Carey 124 wins from 266 games Jack Marshall 122 wins from 329 games Mowbray will not catch Middleton - who was manager for 18 years and won 2 league titles - but could become our second most winning manager. If we are promoted this season he will become the first manager in the club's history to win two promotions; Howard Kendall just missed on that.

That seems realistic. I can't see any reason for us to sell nor any reason for Rothwell to want to move now.
