  1. A season when we with Marcus Bent got promoted and Warnock's Sheffield United finished 10th.
  2. Cellino is a convicted criminal. He was convicted in 1996 for deceiving the Italian Ministry of Agriculture out of £7.5m and in 2001 for false accounting. Paul Mani was not defending me but rather the right of all posters to express opinions - and quite right too.
  3. Rubbish. Go on to the Champions League thread as evidence.
  4. Yes I am qualified to discuss grounds. Why do you want Venkys thrown out of football ?
  5. Cellino had criminal convictions and was facing more serious charges so that the EFL could hold that he failed the owners' test; in contrast Venkys are holding back on putting in the money to buy a new goalkeeper. I think most of us will be able to appreciate the distinction. I repeat my original question : what grounds are there for throwing Venkys out of football ?
  6. I would say pretty much everybody who posts here would be. What you seemed to be saying was that because the owners required the club to sell players before buying any the EFL could make up a reason for "throwing the owners out " (which begs the questions of what happens when they demand repayment of the debt owed to them and who succeeds them)
  7. Because what you said made me laugh because it was so ridiculous.
  8. Pique has won the World Cup, the European Championship and 3 Champions Leagues so is hardly overrated. He has had an outstanding career.
  9. It was a good job to take over - they had just missed out on the playoffs the previous season. But when I wrote about relegation he had not made the greatest start. Overall his record was almost exactly the same as Mowbray when he started with us.
  10. I think he is an old man who is at risk of going on for too long. As I noted above I understand why people think highly of him. I haven't changed my opinion.
  11. Hardly against the odds, mate. One club had a points deduction and Hull committed suicide. He got 12 points from 8 games almost exactly the same rate of return as Mowbray's return of 22 from 15 in 2016-17. Warnock is a good manager but the job at Middlesbrough was a good one to take over as Jonathan Woodgate seems like a nice guy but never a manager.
  12. Yet Warnock's greatness was not sufficient to tempt Friend ?
  13. Friend is a player that the great Warnock has let go - imagine the howls of protest if we signed him - eg Pears
  14. I'm not in the anti-Mowbray camp but for those like you who are I think this is a very fair summary of the situation that the manager has to deal with. It does of course mean that those who believe that in the event of a managerial vacancy there will be a long line of proven in-demand managers wanting to come to Ewood Park will be disappointed.
  15. A club with serious ambition has a plan and a budget calculated to enable that plan to be implemented. That does not mean a blank cheque.
  16. No - but I recognise an honest, decent man when I see one.
  17. Apart from deciding when Mowbray can take his holiday why don't you choose where he goes , as well ?
  18. The Sheffield Wednesday decision underlines that FFP can bite despite the claims of those who tell us that there are ways around it, the EFL will never enforce it, "all you need is a good lawyer " etc etc.
  19. Blackpool did not receive a deduction after the High Court put them in to receivership because the EFL ruled that it did not materially affect the club's ability to meet its obligations - with staff not being paid full wages at Wigan I can't see that applying here.
  20. The rules are clear - go in to administration you get docked 12 points.
  21. They haven't chosen Brown - yet.......
