Summer Transfer Window

If we're buyers you are correct. The question is : will we be in that position ? -
Summer Transfer Window

It's probably going to prove the case that with many clubs forced sellers transfer fees below the very top level will reduce. -

Another poster made a statement about the Bank of India. Nobody has queried that statement. I drew a conclusion based on that statement - fail to see how that is "hypocritical". Of course there will be a barrow load of applicants - most of them presently unemployed. You are living in hope that somehow one of them would be better than Tony Mowbray - who would be expensive to move on with 2 years left on his contract. I am afraid that I am not as optimistic as you. -

Noticeable that you don't address the actual point that was made. -

Elsewhere on this board posters are talking about the Bank of India calling in loans and the club having to engage in a fire sale of assets. They might not be so keen in those circumstances ! On the general point in a normal situation I think the Cowleys would be an excellent fit for us - but our situation is not normal. -

Based on the rumours they left Huddersfield after a disagreement regarding transfer policy. Do you really believe that they would want to work with our owners ? -

Do you have a name in mind ? -
Completely agree - it's a good day when we win and there is a particular reason to take pleasure from it.
-
No - expressed an opinion based on what I have read/seen.

I would have thought Benrahma/Watkins would be their player of the season
-
I think most supporters would take pleasure in a win in which young home produced players played a prominent part.

I'm afraid that for one Owen Coyle demonstrated very clearly that there are managers who would do a great deal worse than Tony Mowbray. -

Well, it would certainly be a challenge. -

I doubt he's a greedy man - he probably reckoned we were the best offer he was going to get. -

I think you probably underestimate the calibre of Chris Hughton - I doubt he needs the money and I don't think he would demean himself working at a club where there's probably very little money available and he's not allowed to have complete control over transfers. As for Johnson there's no evidence that he would be a significant upgrade on the present manager - people only put his name forward because he's a popular former player for the club. -

I've said I don't think we would get anybody better - and there is a significant likelihood of someone much worse. I have also pointed out that there is a cost in removing a management team with 2 years on their contracts - something the mob gloss over. As for my view of Mowbray I think he's got qualities and weaknesses - I haven't rated any manager at the club since Allardyce "highly". -

I don't see the logic of blowing £2m in payoffs to get someone of the same quality - always assuming that is what you got; some of the Venkys previous managerial appointments have been nowhere near as good as Mowbray. -

I think he's probably the best of what in reality will be on offer to our club - yes. -

The best available of those who wanted the job - but according to the mob has never been any good which shows what I mean. -

Indeed there would be a long queue - but not of anybody who is any good. Just the needy and the greedy would apply. -

If you think that people are not demanding millions to be splashed you can't read this board very often. Mercer and others want millions spent on sacking practically everybody above the grade of tea lady, others want a salary package to attract the likes of Chris Hughton coupled with demands for new goalkeepers , centre backs, left backs , strikers and wingers. -

Mowbray and Venus have nearly two years left on their contracts and I would be surprised if the joint cost of the pair of them was less than a million a year so that is two million straight up before you get on to the myriad of other individuals that you want to get shot of. Given what you have said about the finances of the club and the owners at the moment it looks like a tall order. -

But that desperation would have been there in 1990 as well. -

I don't think anybody on here was thinking that way in 1995 ! The Premier League has seen the general interest in football increase significantly as evidenced by much larger attendances. -

Yet you consistently call for firings of practically every member of senior management at the club for which the bill would run in to millions of pounds - why do you think that is affordable in the present circumstances ?
