  1. A Premier League club will always be able to outbid a club in the Championship.
  2. The club would like to but unfortunately it seems that money is talking(Leeds and Brighton)
  3. I have only returned to this board in the last couple of days but who isn't aware of the problems they face ? But it won't just be the lower leagues. I think the Championship will be vulnerable as well , and those looking for a large number of incomings to Rovers before next season I think are doomed to be disappointed.
  4. Unfortunately very injury prone so no surprise that the club could not take the risk.
  5. That's a very good question as a number of people have suggested that the greatest pressure on football below the top 2 divisions will come August/September time if there are no revenues incoming . I would support a loan from the government to keep clubs going, repayable from say 2 to 3 years time provided various conditions were met ; 1. Loan to be backed by a guarantee from the Premier League so no public money at risk. 2. Implementation of a salary cap. 3. No club permitted to pay transfer fees, signing on fees or agents fees until they have repaid all of any part of the loan they have accessed.
  6. I think the EFL are still working on the logistics which is why you have not yet received a communication with the detil.
  7. I think they get their wages in full - but an insurance company makes up part of the balance.
  8. According to a report in the newspapers 2 days ago season ticket holders at all clubs in the Championship will be able to see all remaining home and away on iFollow for free- that strikes me as a very fair compromise.
  9. Of the 3 bookmakers who quote odds for teams getting in to the playoffs the longest price for us is 5/1 - 1 chance in 6 - which after taking account of the percentage in the bookmakers' favour means they assess our chances as around 1 in 7 . The poor old dodo would love to have a chance as good as that !
  10. So what purpose is served by firing them ?
  11. A change is not necessarily going to result in improvement. Going from Allardyce to Kean, for example. But the point was more about the decision makers - who is left to actually make decisions if everyone gets the bullet from India ?
  12. Yes; something that the people who want everyone in sight sacked never seem to address is who then is left to appoint their replacements ? Mrs Desai ?
  13. No club in the Championship can hope to compete with Premier League clubs on the wages front.
  14. Young men make mistakes - always have, always will. Main thing is he learns from it.
  15. I know what you mean, mate, but just have a look at the post below yours - I ask you ?
  16. If true, good work by Mowbray.
  17. Thanks. Must be a very difficult conversation for those at the club who have to tell a young man of 18 that unfortunately he's not going to make it. Even harder for him if he's the only one of his year who isn't going to go on.
  18. I have never seen the player in question so am not in a position to express an opinion on this decision, if it has been correctly reported. But to be fair to those at the club who have to decide who goes on from youth level to the pro ranks, I can't offhand think of a single mistake in the last 10 years in failing to hold on to someone who proved to be any good.
  19. Great spot by Mowbray to bring him in on loan
  20. See above - but even so money etc does not guarantee happiness
  21. I feel sorry for Lambert who I think has "gone" as a manager. As noted before on this thread the decision to give him that new contract looks like madness - unless there is some kind of break clause.
