  1. Clips are my definition showing a small part of a game - just think - in 40 years time supporters will be looking at a two minute clip of today's exciting 3-2 win and complaining that the 2059 Rovers side is not producing entertainment of the same standard
  2. They must be different Evertonians from the ones who were sending out anti-Allardyce chants when he was their manager - a case of thinking the grass on the other side is always greener
  3. I don't need to watch clips - I was going to games in that era
  4. In my view it is because the modern game is in many respects vastly superior to what was going on 30 to 40 years ago
  5. The play offs were introduced for the end of the 1986-87 season so I don't think what you are saying is quite right. Nowhere do I say that I am happy with where we are. My original post today was in response to a supporter's claim that he was unmoved by us winning today's game with a late goal. I just find it hard to believe that a football supporter really thinks like that. Sitting down here in the South of England I was out of my chair for that winning goal.
  6. I would agree with you that nearly all of the 1980s teams were better than the present side. OK ?
  7. If football has changed for the worse why do more people go to games now ?
  8. The 1970-71, 1978-79 and 2016-17 seasons
  9. No - a fan of about 55 years standing trying to introduce a sense of perspective
  10. Clearly it isn't great but what we have seen in the last two home games with two late wins - one from a goal down - is not the hallmark of a relegation side
  11. I think he's more likely than another Venkys appointment. Why would a Rovers fan not be thrilled by another late winner ?
  12. We had the never say die spirit to again win a game with a late goal
  13. Hang on. How does the late goal mean nothing ? At the start of this month Mowbray was criticised because we never won games late on; now we are making a habit of it.
  14. Congrats to the players for digging deep to win another game late on
  15. Do you know where the son went to school ? A British school education might have left him with a better insight in to football.
  16. How about leaving the guy in the job but giving him the powers he needs to do the job in the way it is normally done- you know, that unfashionable idea of someone having a chance to prove themselves rather than throwing P45s around will nilly.
  17. I can't see why someone should be fired because they haven't done something they didn't have the power to do
  18. The problem is that as the club is presently run the chief exec just has that title and is really little more than an administrator - they are not given the authority or powers normally invested in that position
  19. Southgate is rightly praised for reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup having taken over an England team that had been consistently failing in tournaments for some years
  20. I am sure we all wish Dominic a full recovery from an operation to remove a brain tumour
  21. And Dack's ? The point is that some people have been suggesting that Chapman would improve the first team and the fact he hasn't is in some strange way down to Mowbray whereas those who actually watch Chapman play confirm that he doesn't look good enough
  22. But would the owners permit Mowbray to spend significant sums on a full back ?
