  1. Without seeing the contracts for the deals we can never be sure what the club are liable for. As Joe Harvey pointed out there is likely to be a trigger for payments in the case of promotion to the Premier League ( and also appearances for England) and those potential liabilities can be included in the fees for players that are quoted in the media. But it wouldn't be fair to say that we have "spent" those sums
  2. I doubt if Brighton would have wanted to loan Walton to us unless they were confident he was going to be playing regularly as first choice. To know how much money clubs were spending last season we will need to see accounts to the end of June this year - I don't think ours are yet available ?
  3. Pretty well. Last season after 8 games Norwich had 11 points; we have 13
  4. Those "poor signings". Didn't they sign 5 players in one day in the summer ? Then people came on here saying how well they had done !
  5. But aren't those two both better suited to playing on the right side of central defence whereas Williams provides balance by being suited to the left side ?
  6. Alternatively it might be best in the long run for Brereton to go on loan to a Division One club for the second half of the season and get a run of games where he could start scoring goals and re-discover his confidence - unfortunately I suspect that the reaction of the owners to my suggestion would be strongly negative
  7. Yes, I think he is a striker suited to playing in the centre but he was played out wide for a while in Division One and consequently lost confidence in front of goal. It's good news that he is on the way back.
  8. Thanks, I didn't know that - not always the easiest situation to be in for any walk of life and there is the risk that he is an easy target.
  9. Is the Number 15 for Spurs for real ?
  10. My views exactly
  11. Bring him to the game against Luton
  12. I think this puts it very well indeed
  13. I was very unhappy with what happened that season which I think was principally down to Owen Coyle failing to organise the team in a way to give us sufficient defensive solidity .- I don't put that at Gallagher's door - as I recall he seemed to be putting in 100% in the way the manager was playing him
  14. Gallagher scored 11 goals from 43 appearances in an inferior side when he was last with us so he is capable of a reasonable return - and the manager is clearly happy with much of his present contribution. Ultimately any successful side wins and loses as a team and if he is part of a team that has begun to deliver the results I think we should be happy
  15. Completely agree
  16. You could say the same about Guardiola
  17. This is the division where everyone can beat everyone else. I will take a 1-0 win courtesy of a last minute deflected shot
  18. No -we'll be in the FA Cup semi final that day
  19. Sam Gallagher is now 24 so is hardly still a "young player" - Raheem Sterling is the same age and now the best English footballer so it is reasonable to expect Gallagher to be the finished article
  20. Had a quick look and there was a hold up so the deal went through in early July
  21. Didn't Hoyle sell the club in May to Phil Hodgkinson ?
  22. 5-1 now. Brilliant stuff but credit to Kosovo who at least are not parking the bus
  23. Based on his transfers at Stoke waste it on Berahino
